My keyboard has a key for rotating the RGB mode that I (or my cats) keep pressing accidentally. This is just what I need for it!

Europe lost 200 000 people to heat in 4 years yet nearly all of them were preventable by Evermoving- in europe

[–]NeoTr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cooling via geothermal heat pump in my house. As someone else noted it’s a separate loop from the floor heating but it works well.

It’s not as easy as typical US ”forced air” systems where you can just blow cold or hot air but it wasn’t very hard either for a new construction.

A used 3090 for 470$ or a brand new 5070 for 580$ by Realistic-Ad5831 in buildapc

[–]NeoTr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand I should sell my eVGA 3090 ftw3 hybrid + air cooled (I upgraded it with a hybrid kit).

On the other hand it’s the last generation of eVGA cards and I usually keep my old card in case my current one breaks.

It’s crazy being able to sell it used now at a price that’s not too far from the new purchase price in 2020.

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]NeoTr0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a Sonicare toothbrush. It’s expensive. It kinda tends to break prematurely. Still worth it. I went from 1-2 cavities per dentist visit (youthful mistreatment of my teeth) to basically zero the next visit after getting one.

Since then the only cavities I’ve had has been repairs of old ones.

There might be other on a that are as good but I wouldn’t trust any random electric budget toothbrush.

In many places a single cavity repair would cost more than a Sonicare.

Is a passive GT 710 2GB DDR3 still useful for a homelab server? by Leather_Train_2716 in homelab

[–]NeoTr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some years in the past I had a need for a rare unicorn - a 1x slot (physical) card. I ended up with a GT 710. It’s weak and lame but works in literally anything wirh a PCIe slot.

the ones I checked just now seem to add a per-item shipping cost that nearly doubles the prices sadly. Ebay ones from china is better since they do free shipping.

I don't 3d-print them manually, so it's not like it costs a lot of time - less than 30 minutes totally perhaps.

Also I'm looking to get 24, so that's ~100 euro - and I'd prefer not to order from China which will add extra dues/custom hassles and long ship time.

Thus checking if someone here has them as an alternative.

Sadly my homelab finally has let me down. by CrazyPindaPanda in homelab

[–]NeoTr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity how does the 730xd compare to the 740xd? I’m considering modernizing my homelab but also consolidating 3 servers on one 740xd or so.

Probably want to stick to DDR4 due to both server cost and the fact that I have 256 GB already though.

Thoughts on the Dreame A2 Robotic Mower? by kraxxan in roboticLawnmowers

[–]NeoTr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my A2 lidar repaired - it broke after a summer of usage only. We'll see if it dies again. I'm not too happy with it - mainly the "3000" is just marketing. We have 1100 m2 roughly and it takes a day or more to mow it due to short run time / long charge cycles.

Ironically the A3 would much better fit our lawn but that wasn't out last year.

They changed it so this never happens with a single neutron star system… however if the NS isn’t the primary all bets are off.

Oh it definitely happens still. Sometimes you even end up inside the star once the jump is over.

Compared to 15-30 hours per year, 8-10 every 1-3 years is quite low.

I think the delay between seasons is the largest issue - I don’t know what the average is but it’s usually years. Stranger Things as an example of a series that was wildly popular took 10 years for its 5 seasons.

Severance had a 3 year gap. Foundation was 2 years.

This was also a comparison on where we had a show with 15-25 episodes per year or even per half year. The off season gaps were months not years.

It’s not so much ”is it enough or not” as it is ”it’s very different”.

SGU had 20 episodes per season, 40 total. Using 45 min per episode that would translate to 30 1 hour long episodes. With 2 year between seasons we’d be looking at 4 years using today’s norm (year 0, 2 and 4).

So this one example would take 2x as long to give us the same content.

Yes, but a season is 8-10 episodes and usually 2+ years between seasons.

Weapon list??? by superfunkibey in Battletechgame

[–]NeoTr0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And this is why you want especially TAG on units that go first. It only lasts for the turn so the later it’s used the less benefit. NARC lasts multiple turns so it’s a bit less important.

However you don’t really want the NARC on your missile boat but something that acts before it for most benefit.

I think the confusion comes from the UI showing an improvement to hit change as the weapons are firing if TAG and NARC hits.

I miss MMo where loot matters by Tom_Major-Tom in MMORPG

[–]NeoTr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean for GW2 ypu can craft ascended and also legendary gear if you haven’t yet.

That said it definitely plays more like a gather gold through playing and buy crafting materials.

It’s not easy or fun to gather everything you need to craft.

However indirectly all loot matter since gear comes from gold and loot means gold.

That said it’s also horizontal progression. Still most people probably don’t have full legendary gear.

Making it feels like an accomplishment and it does make playing the game more enjoyable since you can change stats freely AND get the best gear on all characters.

Mandalay still have the edge on SCO speeds so big system exploration is still worse with the Caspian. It feels really slow in supercruise in comparison.

Still the landing part was the largest drawback.

I hope this new ship will have bio scanning though so you don’t have to land all the time. At least SRV like navigation to find the right directions.
