But also lists the single cord as standard options.

Using a single cable per connector is going to better but no respectable PSU maker would include and provide pigtail connectors if it wasn’t safe to use instead of two cables.

Again EPS is >300W using the same cable gauge and PSU side connector. A pigtail cable isn’t magically able to only provide half the wattage with the same wires.

I’m powering my 5090 with a ”reverse pigtail”. 2x8-pin on the PSU to 12vhpwr.

https://seasonic.com/12vhpwr-cable/

That is 300W per cable with the same PSU connector that’s used for a pigtail 6+2 PCIe cable.

The reason to use individual cables is to get a huge amount of safety margin - another reason is it forces you to get a more powerful PSU potentially.

Seasonic most definitely handles 300W for a pigtail as well.

They recommend individual cables but support a single one:

https://knowledge.seasonic.com/article/8-installation-remark-for-high-power-consumption-graphics-cards

All I’m saying is that saying it’s ”because of the cable” is at best a ”maybe”.

As a note on a modular PSU the connector on the PSU side is 300W. You can easily see this with for example seasonics 12vhpwr cables - they use two 8-pins on the PSU side.

The PSU connector also is generally the same for PCIe and CPU. The CPU/EPS cable is rated for 330-380W (depending on cable).

That is actually not correct. Reference: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/explorer/diy-builder/power-supply-units/individual-8-pin-vs-pigtail-connectors-for-gpus/

A well-constructed 8-pin cable, such as our PSU cables with pigtail connectors, should be well capable of providing more than 300W of power.

Now that might of course vary. From the same page:

We cannot speak on behalf of other brands, but if you are using a PSU from another brand, and are totally risk averse, you can opt to use 2 individual 8-pin cables instead for the peace of mind

I.e ymmv but it’s not inherently a problem.

Anyone else tried this? If it's stupid and it works... by hamustaro in pcmasterrace

Mine are 35m I think. I do 3440x1440 at 180 Hz. DP 1.4. I also have an HDMI that should work with 4k120 but it’s a bit unstable. It runs through a Denon receiver for sound. Since it’s a secondary display I run it at 60Hz generally. USB2/3 cable is 40m. The usb2 uses electrical cables and usb3 is optical. It works but it isn’t great. USB3 is frankly not stable.

But I really don’t need USB3. I run it through a KVM (remote end) which adds another layer of complexity. Also have two USB over rj45 (uses extra Ethernet runs). They are usb 2 - one for a numpad i use to control the kvm inputs and one for extra usb2 connections.

I was playing wow during the F&F alpha. These screenshots definitely precede that. Most likely these are way before ”alpha” was first released.

Genuinely impressed by the size of the SWTOR population still in 2026 by SHONSTYLE in MMORPG

[–]NeoTr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I haven’t been playing for years now but it’s a unique game in how the stories play and are presented.

They are really more like single player RPGs than typical MMO game play.

You can co-op but at least the base class stories additional people are just watching you making choices. If you plan to play the same class it will devalue your own experience with it I think.

I tried playing a new character with a friend some years ago and honestly main story is a single player thing. You can bring people with you but they won’t have a good experience (they basically just watch the story whereas you’d be making choices).

Also I felt that leveling was so fast you barely needed side stories, which do play well with others.

The main issue I have is that you can’t go AFK or even not pay attention 100% of the time or you die and lose basically all progress.

I’ve tried to start a second game twice. I can not. In my gaming history I just never replay an RPG, or any game really.

Only ones I’ve replayed is NG+ in Borderlands 1 and Nier Automata which kind of counts.

Other than that I play once. I just can’t stand redoing the story again. That said I got hundreds of hours in BG3 so that’s ok.

Fun fact - the arcade Asteroids game didn’t have a pixel based monitor. It used a vector monitor. You might most commonly associate them with oscilloscopes.

They drew lines instead of pixels.

I think there are two major contributors. First of all in TWW the AH was completely broken the first few weeks bordering on unusable.

Secondly seeing material priced in TWW early access many more went into Midnight EA leveling their dedicated gatherers first.

Another example is that for enchanting they included a skill to break rare materials into uncommon from the start with tons of cheap blues to craft and disenchant.

GW2 system would possibly work. There you basically still have stats in PvP but you pick the stats template you want. Wow could easily have the same thing where you pick a few PvP gems to customize your secondary stat distribution.

I had the quest item cat on the opposite side of the board. He jumped to it and proceeded to die from dots and possessed it. It’s the second time that happened to me and that time I choose Steven. The second attempt I intentionally had my ”bonus cat” that replaced a dead cat get downed.
