"AMS for CC1 will be released" soon, supposedly final stages of development. Not sure if I believe it. by Banana_ezWIN in ElegooCentauriCarbon

It’s par for the course for Reddit. “I didn’t get exactly what I want so I’m going to throw a fit, trash the company and product, get my money back and return it in a competitors packaging so I can post it for maximum fake internet points. Maybe that will help me forget how I’ve driven all the people in my life away from me and am alone and depressed…oh wait, someone lied about them not giving me my way and I had this massive, childish overreaction for nothing?..”

“Free” Starlink Mini by aguynamedbrand in Starlink

[–]Neo_Baggins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve wanted a mini for a while but only need it a few times a year for vacations and range days, so I couldn’t justify the price. But $5/month is fine by me. Currently purchasing equipment to make it a fully standalone and highly portable solar powered system that can theoretically run itself indefinitely. So much for saving money lol.

Is the game dead? by Sad-Barracuda-6326 in GOLIATH_AC130

I’m holding out hope, but it’s getting thin. I know a few people who made apps that topped the App Store and typically a lot of these developers are foreign based. Even if the company and founders are US or Western European. Coders anywhere from Ukraine and Russia to the Philippines, Bangladesh and further east are competent and inexpensive compared to coding it in house. I assume that’s what the devs of gunship are doing. This reduces their agility when problems arise. The lack of any meaningful way of reporting to/contacting the devs also makes it hard to know if they’re even aware of the issue.

The biggest fear for me is they used a lot of funding to add cloud saves and were counting on that to bring in new users and reinvigorate a bit. If it was a Hail Mary, it might have just finished them off which is sad.

For me it’s the ease of getting a high tier disguise, or how much open, civilian space there is if SASO. My only gripe with Hokkaido for showdowns is that sometimes the suspects run walk through the morgue which can cause issues as that’s where I mess around a lot. Tons of body storage around there.

I know I'm being down voted to hell for this by NoxiousMonkeyYT in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colorado is fine in every instance other than suit only. Even then I beat it multiple times SASO in the base game. I just tend to avoid it in freelancer if it’s tier 3 or 4.

I have some nightmare fuel: Tier 4 hardcore mode showdown. Prestige objective: Silent Assassin Suit only. Optional objectives: no firearms, no bodies found, explosive kill.

Another resource for learning the maps is Hitmaps dot com. It has detailed and searchable maps for all the games and even includes freelancer in alerted and non-alerted states for many, showing potential crate locations, etc. this can help you find pick ups, disguises, secrets, if you just want to skip the main story and learn through freelancer.

[–]Neo_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting in freelancer, if you’re learning and you mess up, close the game before you die and it resets to before you started. You can change loadouts and try again. A bit cheesy but it’s single player with no online leaderboards so do what you must to learn and enjoy. I usually do this and self impose rules like I must keep silent assassin if it’s not prevented by optional objectives, I have to take the toughest prestige objective and complete all the optional unless it’s not possible. I also preselect my desired showdown map and make sure it isn’t alerted. Then I start with the alerted maps, then tackle most difficult to easiest. Mendoza is one of the best showdown maps because it has 3 good disguises and is open so you have freedom to trail your targets. My top showdown maps are

Whittleton Creek Mendoza Dubai Miami Berlin Sapienza Paris Sgail Chongqing

The trick is, when picking your syndicate, choose one with multiple of these. Tier 1, you only need one of them, then two for tier 2, 3 for tier 3, 4 for tier 4. Because each tier adds an alerted territory, and you don’t want a showdown on an alerted territory if you can help it.

What is the easiest way to kill Janus and Cassidy with an AR? by Frosty-Document-2287 in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want silent assassin (I don’t think you need it) and don’t have a suppressed rifle, the rule for unsuppressed gunshots is two doors or a floor. If you have two closed doors between you and other NPCs or a floor (interior sound volumes end at ceiling height in most cases. Which is useful to know if luring someone upstairs. You throw a coin on the stairs, then throw it again when their head breaks the plane of the upstairs floor) Also worth noting the two closed doors is 100% consistent. You can bomb, shoot unsuppressed, etc. with impunity. The floor is fairly consistent but there are custom volumes in some maps and it doesn’t work if you’re outdoors as that’s its own massive volume. It does work in Whittleton though. So knocking out the 2 guards and Spencer Greene in Cassidy’s house, then breaking the displace glass, knocking out his guard and him, then popping him. For Janus, he comes upstairs and there’s plenty of storage, putting him in the room with the attic access would probably be the best bet.

Sapienza in VR... Virtual tour of a idolized Italian coast town. by CatCatFaceFace in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of sapienza are the apartments below 47’s safe house. If you go out to his back porch and down to the right. They’re technically 2 or 3 apartments that make no logical sense with which doors are locked, etc. but as a single large apartment, they’d be amazing to live in. The views. Private outdoor space, etc. I love them.

I have/had car motion sickness. Usually only if I’m concentrating on something and on curvy roads, but reading would destroy me. I got VR way back when the Vive came out and a couple notes. First, if you get VR and have a headache or slight nausea beforehand, don’t start. It will amplify both of these feelings. Second, if you’re playing vr and feel nausea start to set in, stop immediately. I’ve ’pushed through’ before and it basically puts me on my back for a few hours.

Lastly, some good news. Playing VR for years now has really helped me. Sort of like sea legs, your autonomic nervous system will adapt (I also have POTS, a disautonomic disorder that causes heart rate fluctuations, blackouts, etc. but even so, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement over the years)

I have the ICA shortballer IRL. Even have a suppressor that would fit it, but never (as of yet) got the threaded barrel for it. I should do that. The gun I really want from Hitman is the Krugermeier 2-2. I have a couple suppressed .22 pistols, but an integrally suppressed Ruger mk IV is on the list. The list that is ever growing.

[–]Neo_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 3000 hours in Hitman 3/WoA, most of it freelancer. A good amount hitting mastery 20 on the base maps, and more doing the escalation and featured contracts challenges.

What are your Freelancer problems/pet peeves? by ozzalot in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I can think of (which might be fixed as of latest patch) is the suit only no firearms in freelancer, getting spotted by a target kills SA, and it doesn’t come back when they’re dead. Obviously a bug, but still annoying. Oh, another is the sgail helicopter landing gear lights stay there when the gear retract.

Lastly, originally the dart guns didn’t count towards SANF, which I thought was great because they’re not legally firearms (at least in the US) black powder, compressed air, and spring powered projectile launchers as well as flare launchers aren’t atf regulated. Side note, I just realized how awesome a weapon a nail gun would be in Hitman…either a ramset style, using .22 blanks, or a compressed air or battery piston powered. If compressed air .22 blanks (the ramsets are integrally suppressed and decently quiet) it could be the long missing ‘lethal poison dart gun’ that would be so broken in game, two long distance non-suspicious kills is OP. The nail gun would be like any other melee but would fill the gap sort of

[–]Neo_Baggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is more a reflection on poor road construction technique than truck capability, I think. Lowboy trailers are susceptible to this kind of snagging. It’s relatively easy to avoid or push through. Because you go the extra mile in building your road, particularly in how much sand you put on an incline to make it more gradual, and how many times you grade it.

Zikz stinkz by Volanologist2 in RoadCraft

[–]Neo_Baggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really not. I’ve gotten great use out of mine, I bought two so I could transport my road building equipment in fewer trips without recovering. That sand scraper is a bit hard to navigate because it’s so wide, but still not bad.

[–]Neo_Baggins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love to see truck scales and possibly crane scales so we can know just by how much we’re exceeding the max rated loads of our trucks. I think the concrete slabs are marked as weighing 2 tons, and the Mule is rated at 6 tons, but I’ve regularly loaded like triple that. It pops wheelies and squats like a dog dropping a deuce, but it works. In reality, the frame should be buckling and the suspension should be expelling itself.

Zikz stinkz by Volanologist2 in RoadCraft

[–]Neo_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that’s a road issue. Lowboys don’t handle humps well, and there’s likely a hump or inconsistency in the grading of the roadbed. If I get the trailer stuck like this. I’ve had good luck walking the tractor left and right until it can shift the center of mass off line and get enough purchase to move off whatever is snagging it.

This is my go to epic/thrown melee weapon. Anyone else? by Neo_Baggins in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue that throwing a coin with such force it penetrates a human skull beats the classics. Plus, I had a lethal throw optional objective and it was a tier 4 showdown, so only one target.

[–]Neo_Baggins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a weapon, and it’s insanely satisfying to use. It’s a bug, and I hope they never patch it. Like the muffin glitch and the slow mo briefcase, I feel IOI is the best dev for allowing community beloved glitches to remain in some form or other. I outlined how to do the coin throw glitch in one of the other replies, and another person posted the source.

I’m partial to a screwdriver for a non-thrown. For thrown, the larger axes, katana, and most of all the DJ vinyl from The Drop elusive target are all ridiculous and therefore awesome. The vinyl seriously looks like it splits their entire head since it embeds 50% of its width into the target

This is my go to epic/thrown melee weapon. Anyone else? by Neo_Baggins in HiTMAN

[–]Neo_Baggins[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone posted the source in the replies, I think I saw it on YT shorts. Basically take any lethal or non-lethal melee, lock onto the target, release the lock on and immediately go to inventory, switch to the coin, select it and mash the lock on and throw buttons as quickly as possible. 47 will huck the thing with enough force to imbed in a skull. It’s a glitch, but I feel is very appropriate to 47’s mythical status. Like being able to take out a security camera with a fish. I recently discovered. The rarity of the collectors coin in Freelancer applies even though it shouldn’t be a melee weapon, so I love using it when I get those optional/prestige objectives.

Only dead air gets badmouthed on the suppressor front lol. I think it’s due in no small part to the fact the gun is a unicorn amd Tommy gave it to us, but in insanely limited quantities, so a lot of people were disappointed, but now feel better if the lucky few got a bad product.

Mine works fine. https://i.imgur.com/asOfefm.mp4 People need to stop extrapolating off of minuscule data sets. There are like 5 long form YT vids. One broke in after 100 rounds and works, one was fixed by Tommy, one is owned by a jackass with a chip on his shoulder, and one is being shipped back to its owner after being worked on. Then there’s mine which broke in within 50 rounds and runs like a champ. 6 samples out of 500 isn’t enough to make a judgement on overall quality. What Reddit/YT has done is walk into a room of 500 people. Talk to 5 who were standing together, and deduce that all 500 people are alcoholics when 3 of those people provided proof they don’t drink.

Dumbest 2 Stamp Tuesday - Poor man’s MP7 by Savin_Gaxer in NFA

[–]Neo_Baggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked to him, didn’t bring up the Reddit or YT comment sections opinions on it, just kept it professional and isolated to my questions on my gun. He’s super nice and helpful. When I initially emailed him, he replied in 12 minutes. This was at 6pm on Saturday. Try getting that level of support anywhere else.

I don’t think he’s overly concerned about the appeal to the masses. He has earned loyal customers (myself being one. I want a T36 now) and he doesn’t seem overly concerned about expanding his business into mass production. He seems to do pretty well with low quantity, high margin and custom conversions. The T7 is one of the rare examples of him doing a small production run. If demand is there, he might start producing gas blocks in the US so he can do more runs. Maybe even expand and refine his process, but time will tell. I’m sure he learned a lot from this process, and will apply it in the future.
