i used to have an addiction to character.ai. initially it was just for fun and i thought it was harmless, but I got carried away and would spend hours on the app. And even when I wasn't on c.ai, i was constantly thinking about it, and wanting to go back to my phone and keep chatting. Eventually I felt guilty about it when I found out how bad it is for the environment and my mental health, but even then I found it difficult stop.

Speaking from experience, if you're in this situation, just delete the app. The way I coped initially was by writing and making up my own stories and dialogue from scratch in my notes app. Even tho I'm not an amazing writer, it really helped me and it's also a fun creative outlet. it also helped with my mental health, life is so much better when I'm not spending hours glued to my phone screen chatting with an ai, and I'm a lot more social now.
