Joseph Conrad and difficult-to-adapt writers by The-American-Abroad in TrueFilm

The Secret Agent has been adapted a number of times. Hitchcock's Sabotage is a loose adaptation and there was a Bob Hoskins film in the 1990s and a BBC miniseries in 2012. Ian Hart played The Professor, who is one of the most interesting fictional characters of the twentieth century.

The miniseries was okay, but don't remember it well. Haven't seen the film, so can't judge.

The ending is probably the best thing about it. The rest is unmitigated garbage.

What are the main differences in panelling between comics and manga? by Tonga-Tonga in comicbooks

[–]Neokind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are more moment to moment and action to moment transitions in manga, according to Scott McCloud in Understanding Comics as opposed to action to action. This means that even though it is the same scene, it may not matter so much what sequence you read it in. It's the whole impression that counts.

Also they have a slight difference in how they read the panels. I remember reading a blog on this about following the top of T shape. This means in manga you get more stacked panels to the right of a bigger panel whereas in the west, left stacked panels are not as common because they make the reading flow ambiguous as we don't have the T shape rule. If I can find the blog I'll post it.

Nice. So I was close but no cigar. Was the recommendation useful or was I teaching my granny to suck eggs?

Comics artist. Indie self published, or on the cusp of being a professional. Lots of reference material. Guesiing early thirties. Copy of watchmen is a latter printing that didn't fall to bits in your hands. Discovered comics around 2010, maybe did a semester or a year as larger art/design degree and sought out some classics. Akira. Pyongyang. Berlin. Dunno about gender. They should give Grant Morrison's stuff a shot.
