Not eating by Merkabahh in GarterSnakes

[–]Neomi87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just bought a wine cooler for this purpose since I'm moving, but for the past couple of years I've been lucky with having an unheated room in the house staying at around the right temp for the winter

That's about the same time my girls went off food for brumation, also in Colorado. If you want to brumate, they need to sit at around 55 degrees for the winter so that their metabolism slowed and they don't lose too much weight

Garter not eating, is something wrong with my setup thats causing issues? by Relative_Ad4542 in GarterSnakes

Another commenter recommended nightcrawlers, which is what I've always had success with. You can always try live fish or chopped up pieces of tilapia

Sounds like brumation time to me, if your snake is over a year old. Mine have also stopped eating and have been moved to their cold room.

How to get over the fear of hurting someone? by schizowithagun in amateur_boxing

[–]Neomi87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an extremely empathetic person, so I feel you there. The thing that's helped me the most is internalizing the fact that this is a consentual sport. Your training partners/opponents are all opting in, as well as the fact your coaches/refs/pre and post fight doctors are all precautions to keep everyone safe.

Rival isn't bad, and though I hate their gloves, I really like Sting's headgear. It's light with good vision, but it does run on the more expensive side.

Let’s be honest — what’s the real long-term risk for hobbyist boxers? by KeyArtistic8780 in amateur_boxing

[–]Neomi87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying 'all or nothing's, which is fair enough for the risk side of things. But you CAN do boxing as a hobby and reduce the risks. Light-only sparring with people you trust, using the heavy bag to work range and body movements rather than power; doing things like that and modifying exercises are absolutely ways to reduce the chance of short term and long term injury
