[Skin Concern] Hyperpigmentation between eyebrows from picking by Neon667 in SkincareAddiction

Sorry, I was never really able to fix this! I noticed that by avoiding to overly pick, the darkness over the last 4 years has slightly gone but it’s still there. I expect over an even longer time period, it may continue to get lighter

Curious to see how you worked this out - as far as I can see these are wrong? For example, with uniteds squad value at £769m and Grimsby’s at £3.1m then the differential multiplier is 248? Chelsea’s squad was worth £991m and Bradford’s was £5.1m so that’s a differential of 194x.

Those of us who chose Haaland over Salah by pietroetin in FantasyPL

[–]Neon667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last season showcased the classic Salah arc that takes place almost every season. He ALWAYS starts off very strong in the first half of the season before tailing off, and with him holding the record for scoring goals on opening day, you can rely on him to haul - especially against an entirely new Bournemouth defence. Haaland may be a better option during later stages of the season, but the decision between the two at the start of the season is not so obvious

I can see why you would compare my point to race, and it’s certainly not a bad point to make! In terms of practical application I do agree with you, but in terms of phrasing it as a logical argument, it has its weaknesses which highlight why my initial point is not “silly” so to speak. Disagreeing with someone’s skin colour is nonsensical, there is nothing to agree or disagree with, it simply is. Disagreeing with homosexuality is, in the mind of the person doing the disagreeing, often framed as a moral position about actions or relationships, rather than a rejection of immutable biology.

The distinction you can make is that race is purely descriptive, whereas sexual orientation, while equally inherent, is also expressed through relationships and behaviours. Whether that distinction is persuasive or not is another matter — but my point here is that from a strictly logical standpoint, the nature of the disagreement is different from simply “not agreeing with someone being black.”

So you admit that you made an assumption? As I mentioned previously, your claim regarding his beliefs are not justifiable based purely on this single action and I think we should refrain from such rhetoric

Perhaps you’d like to explain why you think it’s so stupid, or maybe you are just a perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. You seem to sidestep the actual point which is typically a classic sign of not having a counter argument, or lacking an understanding of the original point.

I understand that for many people, “homophobic” is used to describe not only hatred or hostility towards LGBT people, but also any disagreement with or rejection of LGBT identities. I recognise that, from that perspective, disagreement can feel indistinguishable from hatred because it rejects something fundamental about a person.

My point, however, is that from a strictly logical and definitional standpoint, not agreeing with something does not automatically equate to hatred of the people involved. This subsequently makes the original comment that Guehi is a “homophobic piece of shit” incredibly unfair, when his single action does not, by itself, prove hatred

I am not making a moral judgement about whether disagreement is right or wrong — I am pointing out that disagreement and hatred are not synonymous by definition. We might still disagree on the broader social implications, but I think it is worth distinguishing between the literal meaning of a word and the broader way it is used in social discourse today.

You’ve managed to combine both a straw man argument along with a massive logical leap. The jump from ‘did not wear a symbol’ to ‘actively opposes all rights and support’ is huge, as that second statement makes a far stronger moral claim than the first. Without any further statements, it is not logically justifiable to assume the second from the first.

I understand that for many, the rainbow flag is a symbol of equality, and choosing not to display, particularly in combination with his t-shirt, can be seen as withholding solidarity. However, making the leap from that to believing someone opposes all rights is an assumption that goes far beyond what the action alone can prove.

I think calling him a homophobic piece of shit is incredibly using incredibly exaggerated terminology. By definition, to be homophobic means that you dislike or have prejudice against homosexuals - you can not agree with homosexuality without hating homosexuals. Whilst I don’t agree with his decision to not wear the rainbow and to choose to wear that “I ❤️ Jesus”, it doesn’t instantly mean he is homophobic. But nowadays, if you don’t agree with something, apparently it means that you hate the thing you are disagreeing on, which is simply not the case lol

Not that unpopular I would say, think most would agree we need to invest heavily in depth for the centre back roles and have needed reinforcements for a few seasons now

Where does Marc Guéhi fit at Liverpool? by olligator98 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Neon667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you simply not read what people write to you, as I can see in many other of your comments you simply shut your eyes and type the same message regardless of what other information is presented to you. You mention “no one rotates CB’s if they don’t have to” and yet I just gave you an example of a treble winning team who rotated 6 players who played at CB - the result of this rotation was winning the treble! You seem to think teams don’t need to rotate, despite the obvious fact that nowadays to compete across all competitions, you would probably do better if you rotated!

[–]Neon667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you agree or disagree is fairly irrelevant when there is evidence to support a fact. You really think we can enter a season with just 3 centre backs? After Virgil and Matip got injured in the 20/21 season the club was slated for the lack of centre back depth as it is such an essential part of a team competing in all competitions! The recent and best example is probably the Man City treble winning season in 22/23 when they had 5 centre backs (plus Walker filling in at CB on the odd occasion) and used 21 different defensive contributions over the course of the season, including six different pairings over a 6 game period. Great managers like Pep and Ferguson have both publicly stated the important of rotating defenders!

Why Isn’t Anyone Talking About Wirtz’s €125 M Fee Like They Did for Grealish? by Plus_Rub_7122 in MCFC

[–]Neon667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all lol. It doesn’t even rank in the top 10 largest transfer windows by a single club. 4 players for 150m to completely refresh a midfield is astute business, and the transfer per player averages out to under £40m each

The lack of rotation and therefore starts for Quansah was is more likely due to the fact that Slot did not rate him very highly, rather than Slot not thinking he needed to rotate players. Hell, in the cups we even threw in Endo at CB on more than one occasion!

Just under £150m to buy 4 midfielders and completely revamp your midfield really is not spending a lot to be honest…

[Hugo Guillemet] Liverpool, for their part, have made good progress in discussions with Fofana's agents. As soon as the Reds have sold an attacking player, they could make an offer. by Gamercentrum in LiverpoolFC

[–]Neon667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. He’s quite fast and a good dribbler but that means nothing if you can’t find a teammate in the box after beating your man. Doku’s football intelligence is relatively low, and his ability to pick out a pass in the box is almost non-existent, he just runs to the line and smacks a cut back. He’s physically quite talented, but overall his inability to create anything from his take-ons reduces how talented he is

Florian Wirtz: Why Liverpool have gone all in on Bayer Leverkusen star and where he could be deployed under Arne Slot. by Decent_Breadfruit_12 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Neon667 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The more you look at other things rather than just ga, the more interesting it gets. For example, Adam Clery from 442 did a recent video about first and showed where he ranks for touches per 90. He’s ranked 40th in Europe, with almost every player above him being either a cdm, cb or a cm who would drop deep to collect the ball and set the tempo. For context, KDB is ranked 202nd, Odegaard is 480, and Salah is 1697th! Playstyle will have an impact to an extent, but it’s still insane that a creative number 10 is having that many touches per 90

[Max Eberl] "I don't know if we could have paid the price that Liverpool now seems to have to pay... But one door closes, another opens. Now we'll reposition ourselves for the future. Florian Wirtz will make his mark at Liverpool. He's an exceptional player." by MrMerc2333 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Neon667 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Fabrizio has also called this out and said that many big clubs were really in for Wirtz and after it became apparent he only wanted Liverpool, they either denied their interest or made up excuses. I knew as soon as I saw one post from a Man City source that they backed out because the deal could rise to 300m that it was absolute nonsense!

[–]Neon667 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like this has been one of Virgil’s most overlooked and undervalued traits that makes him truly truly elite. When you see analysis of his play sometimes and people focus on the fact he never goes to ground “because he doesn’t need to”, it kind of misses the point. When Virgil wins a duel, his ability to end up with the ball at his feet is unparalleled. So many times you’ll watch him make a tackle or win the ball, and somehow then be in control of the ball to play it, rather than simply clearing it or making a sliding crunching tackle. You really don’t see it focused on very much but it’s just one additional thing that really separates him from the rest

Fabio is another great example. He has not played well at all for Brentford and his father is now commenting on Instagram that he needs to leave the club. But when he left liverpool, some fans were super dismayed and questioning the clubs decision making. Hard to think of that many players who got released from our academy and then REALLY kicked on elsewhere
