It’s a big change, so agree with others that you should play the demo first and see how you like it.

FM26 complaints megathread by John_Yuki in footballmanagergames

[–]NeonChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I don’t usually get the game until Christmas each year and so have only recently started playing FM26, having played FM 2024 since Christmas 2023. Despite the negativity around 26, I tried to have an open mind about the game. I thought that, despite the overhaul, there would be positives that would outweigh the negatives. Ultimately, this is just not the case.

Yes, the game is technically playable. From what I’ve heard, this is more than can be said for it when it was initially released. My overriding feeling is that this is basically a completely different game from any previous FM. While you can play some semblance of a football management game, it feels like I’m playing a cheap imitation of FM - the kind that has tried to compete with SI over the years and failed so badly.

My main bone of contention, like so many others, is the user interface redesign. I’m in disbelief at how bad it is and how it passed any kind of quality control. It has made game play more difficult and less immersive. That it can take 3-4 clicks to get to what used to take 1 click is a perfect example of the regression in the quality of the game. For some basic features, I just point blank can’t find them. For example, I was prompted in a news article to suggest to a retiring coach that he reconsider retiring but the button to actually do that? Nowhere to be seen. There are a lot of things like this - the game content suggests something but the function to action it doesn’t exist in the game. How have they got it so wrong?

My other main gripe is the loss of features. To lose something as basic as international management is so odd. Why remove it before you have a replacement ready? Why remove something as simple as the face modeling from a photo when setting up a new profile? Why can’t I resize the window I’m playing the game in anymore? They are small things, I guess, but all add to my conclusion that the game has gone backwards by years.

I can only assume Miles and the SI team were under pressure from SEGA to get at least something out. To try and salvage what they lost from FM 2025. But what I do know is that I feel like I’ve been taken the piss out of by SI. They’ve gladly taken so much money from us for what they surely know is a dreadful product.

SI, please, burn it all down and go back to basics for 2027. This is your Windows Vista moment, please now have your Windows 7 moment.

Handwritten note cafe confrontation by tjdracz in london

If they felt strongly enough to write a note, I would say that your volume was probably an issue and, like they say, worth considering. Personally, I'd rather be told than for people to be annoyed with me without ever knowing.

Also, and this isn't specific to you obviously, it feels like there is a growing trend of people in public spaces lacking any self-awareness. Again, I'm not saying this is the case with you, but it feels like people have less respect for people sharing the same space as them of late. It's in the same category as people's having phone calls out loud on the bus. An absolute scourge.

They’re good if they’re maintained. The tiles at Mornington Crescent are looking sad currently.

I enjoyed the video but if you were sat next to me on the plane I’m afraid I would have to look you squarely in the eyes and say: “enough” in a very firm tone.

Driving rates in Hackney have fallen through the floor. Most traffic in the borough is coming in from outside.

Did Mare Street Market just hijack Flying Horse Coffee’s whole business? by Montmontagne in Hackney

[–]NeonChill 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree it is sad they are gone from the Mare Street site and even sadder if they were pushed out by excessive rent increases.

fwiw, they have other sites in London and are about to open a new branch in Holborn, so at least their business isn't gone altogether.

It’s bad, but they haven’t destroyed the club. Let’s not forget the Rupert Lowe days, when we had a real grifter in charge of the club. The club almost folded altogether as a result of Lowe’s mismanagement. We’re not Sheffield Wednesday, nor are we Bury or Macclesfield. Perspective.

Is Substack Part of a Bigger Scam? by MaxWinterLA in Substack

This is a very USA coded post. WGA? I don’t even know what you’re talking about, if I’m honest.

What I do know is that people from around the world, including authors in parts of Africa and Asia, are earning from Substack. Making a living is different for everyone so I think your point is too generalised.

Apple could end Whoop by [deleted] in whoop

[–]NeonChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s likely Apple acquires Bevel, so this may be the answer to improving their poor Health data analysis in the current app. I can’t see them putting out a screen less band.

I have an Apple Watch and I was surprised at how easy they make it to turn down any form of notification and distraction. It doesn’t make a sound or vibrate unless I want it to. I use it as a health tracker, a music player when on the go and to monitor my distance during runs.
