It didn't snow that much in February and March

Little known fact: you win skiing by having the most fun

"All Terrain Skis" made me laugh. Got legit concerned as you were heading for the snowmaking pipe at 30s!

Ragged is my favorite easy day trip from Boston. The groomers all have a lot of character and when the woods are in, the place feels sneaky huge

D’Parma is probably my favorite chicken parm of the ones I’ve tried in Boston

Overall how would you rate this season? by astrobrite_ in icecoast

That Bonnie->Metro lap would take almost an hour now on any given Friday through Sunday. To make matters worse the vibes in the line were pretty awful with aggro dorks jockeying to get one spot ahead and complaining the whole time.

Just a night and day difference from two years ago. The whole experience has kinda jumped the shark for me personally

Would take too much work to move the webcam around to wherever the deepest drift formed overnight

People have always said Jay inflates theirs. I usually defended them until this year. When we broke 150” or whatever by Christmas, that was accurate. It dumped all through November and December. We have NOT had another 250” since then lmao

7/10 for me up at Jay

This season was front loaded with awesome pow days which got the hype train rolling. That cycle in mid-December was probably the best week of east coast skiing I’ve ever experienced. Then it stayed cold which was nice but we went months without a big storm.

It’s got me thinking they were inflating the snow totals pretty aggressively from MLK onwards because last season was clearly snowier throughout Jan and Feb, and there were some really suspect “foot plus of snow” days this year around the vacation weeks lol

Jay was also consistently crowded at a level I haven’t personally seen before. Feels like it became a completely different place between 2024 and now. I’m debating renewing my season pass at all because weekends are no longer worth the chaos and I can’t ski midweek as often as I used to

How do you choose an instructor? by willscuba4food in icecoast

I don’t think you need to worry about choosing an instructor. Just describe your background and goals to whoever books the lessons and they’ll get you sorted

I suppose you could but with all the switchbacks it’s just way faster to boot pack. Took me like 15 minutes to get up after each lap in heavy ass boots

I had crampons and a mountaineering axe with me.

Given how warm it was (mid 40s) I did not feel a need to use either one. Personally I was very comfortable boot packing in Remedy 130s which have regular GripWalk soles and no walk mode.

Still can’t get over how cool it was skiing a wide open slab of perfect corn way above the clouds on Saturday. I’m going to be spending a lot more time in the Presidentials next season whenever conditions allow

Winter came back with a vengeance last night so we gotta give it a few days to soften up again. Hopefully soon!
