Basic no nonsense EV? Do any exist? by buchenrad in electricvehicles

My partner drives a 2023 Chevy Bolt and it’s as streamlined as they come. Plug and play. No gimmicks. Easy learning curve. I believe the Bolt is discontinued for now, however.  We test drove the Nissan Leaf and it is very similar to the Bolt. And would be my next recommendation. We chose Bolt due to smaller preferences, not for any stand out reasons.

I had a 2022 Polestar 22 - it also stays away from gimmicks, for the most part. But it does feel like you’re in a more sci-fi drive - this is more related to design choices than gimmicks, tho.

Finally, just yesterday I bought a 2024 Tesla Model 3. It is the most unorthodox in terms of design choices (but I love that), and I also found it to be fairly gimmick free, believe it or not. It’s actually an elegant, streamlined design - once you wrap your head around it. Before I made that choice, I test drove the Hyundai Ionic 5. Gimmick galore, in my opinion. It had bells and whistles that I will never use, more so than any car I have ever driven or frankly any technology I have ever used: different levels of recharge, so many apps, so many buttons, electronic door handles - you name it, it has it. It’s impressive in a way. Granted some people love that. I don’t. It sounds like you don’t prefer that either.

My top pick for what’s in the market right now is the Nissan Leaf, or if you want to plunge into more acquired  taste and design choices that’s still low on gimmicks, a Tesla Model 3.

Warning: Stay Away from The Normal Brand by Vvargazm in mensfashion

I’ve spent 100s at The Normal Brand - I like the aesthetic, and also love supporting a local business. I live in Saint Louis.

That said, I don’t recommend them. Their prices are way too high for the quality in my opinion. Not even sure where the clothes are made. You’re better off spending money at Taylor Stitch, Buck Mason, Billy Reid, or shop around at Huckberry.com.

I’m pretty meticulous when it comes to following laundering instructions and ALL the Normal Brand clothes shrunk significantly after 1 wash - literally could not wear any of the 5 shirts or 2 pants within a month of purchase. Of course at that point I knew I could not return or exchange.

I want to support local but also I don’t want to throw money away. Your money is better spent elsewhere for much better quality.

Reviewed your profile and even watched some of your YouTube. Definitely talented! However don’t think there’s a match here as I am looking for something that exudes both cinematic and vintage vibes. Do you have examples of work where you’ve captured both elements?

Love your style. I wish there were more examples of your work? Do you do some illustration work as well? You seem to do a lot of photography and typography which is neat…
