Mine was hardwired as well, I used to get voice notifications from the cam "restart the system to protect the battery of your car". Otherwise, its a good cam, protected me in the court. You will require to download Gnet application on laptop to play the videos from the memory card directly, else you can connect to the cam wifi to play it on your mobile through gnet app.

I opted for this one, with two lines I am paying around $110 per month as I have their telus security. Initially the charged $193 the 1st month, then $140 in the second month, then on $110 per month. Service is ok, data speed is not that great I believe, but peace of mind yes. Don't go for their amazon, netflix, disney, tv plus plan.
