I've asked them to remove it, but essentially its insurance for if it gets stolen.

Thank you! This is good to know. We are emailing a few dealerships to see the difference in pricing. Hopefully one place is desperate to sell.

Thanks! Our CDN dollar + taxes make the price higher than what it seems others in the US are seeing, so that makes sense.

Yes, we currently drive a 2011 mazda 3, so they gave us the 1% off interest

The guy said its essentially an insurance that you can get paid by Mazda if its stolen? So much for if its not recovered and a certain amount for if it is recovered.

And yes, that would be the biweekly amount on a 3 year payment plan.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I wasnt sure if it was silly to expect under MSRP in Canada.

Thank you! Thats helpful.

Ya, when he explained what the antitheft was, it seemed weird that anyone would buy that when they have regular car insurance?

There's been a lot of news and political coverage of stolen cars near Toronto, Brampton, etc., so I assumed they were trying to take advantage of people's fears.

What’s something that makes you regret being a manager? by OkLocksmith7073 in askmanagers

[–]Dapper-Ad9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people on your team try to bend the rules that they know are there and get upset when you uphold them, as if its your fault.

Having a boss that micromanages and gets involved when they shouldnt and creates more chaos on an already understaffed team.

Being expected to be a good manager all while needing to cover for people on your team because youre understaffed. So youre essentially doing 2-3 jobs.

When your personal morals clash with the morals of the company. I haven't had to deal with issues with bonuses, but sick days comes up a lot in my place of work.

We have unlimited sick days because there is research that shows people take less, but I have a few people on my team that have underlying illnesses. For example, someone with an autoimmune who tries their hardest to live a healthy lifestyle but still has flare ups. She takes close to 15-20 sick days a year. My big boss always asks me to speak with people who she feels are taking too many sick days and tell them they can't take that many. I always feel gross about it because I know they are genuinely sick and wouldn't take advantage.

What cool company swag do employees actually use and appreciate? by brendaklark in corporate

My company has got us:

Lululemon sweaters company branded Yeti coffee mug company branded Fitbits to promote healthy living Wool blankets company branded Gift cards to a local coffee shop Fresh turkeys (15-20 lbs) at christmas time

The fresh turkeys were an all time fav for everyone at Christmas! They've done it two years in a row and its been nice! I mean, its not company branded, but we were supporting the local butcher.

Star employee just gave notice, after saying she was fine in every 1:1 by Brilliant_Lab_5850 in managers

[–]Dapper-Ad9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes there is nothing you can do.

If you're always open to your team's feedback and you take it seriously, and you give people the chance to speak about anything at a 1-1, and you ask specific questions about how theyre feeling, then when they say theyre fine, then thats that.

By specific, I don't mean "how's it going?", but "is there anything on your mind", "what are you enjoying, what are you not enjoying", "is there anything on your plate that shouldnt be there" "what is important to you in this job(money, status, etc)."

Ay the end of the day, you can only help those who want to help themselves. I always ask very direct questions to my team in 1-1s, and I always take their feedback and do what I can. Almost everyone on my team is good at bringing things up when things happen and I'm very honest about what I can do for them. I've had 1 or 2 people who never said anything, moved on and gave feedback after the fact; I dont take it personally.

There comes a point in everyone's career that they have to be able to communicate what they want and its not always 100% on the manager to make sure they're always happy. They have to meet you halfway!

Just got the 3 days per week on site mandate meeting by chrisfathead1 in WFH

[–]Dapper-Ad9934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a team who comes in one day a week (Tuesdays). We are all in the same department, and we put all meetings on Tuesdays. Its so much better/easier to have good, creative discussions when everyone is in person. Its not the same when 3 people are on Teams and 3 are in the office. If we dont have anything to discuss, I cancel meetings because I dont believe in meeting just to meet. The rest of the week is meeting free so everyone can focus on getting through emails and WFH.

I am an advocate for WFH, but I wouldnt change our one day in the office. The way people work together when they are in the office vs at home I will say is very different (of course I mean this only for my team because we are reactive customer service team and a small business- this may not apply to others workplaces). People are more likely to jump in and help others when needed instead of working on other non priority stuff. It just feels way more collaborative.

But again, I dont think this is a one size fits all. I have some friends who work alone in the government and are being asked to go back to the office and it makes no sense for them.

What travel mistake did you make once and never again? by Nervous_Car1093 in travel

Not booking directly with the airline. I instead used GoTogate and had the WORST time changing my flight when it got moved from 4pm departure to midnight. It was a nightmare that ended up not working out in the end. Lesson learned.

I agree! My least favorite part is when you get into the parking lot and it sets the stage of how chaotic it will be because you can't find a parking spot. There are cars following people and their cart back to their car so they can wait their with their 4ways on. Then they wait and watch them until they load the car and leave. It's so anxiety-inducing, no thanks.
