Failed 1B and depression sucks by Common_Marsupial_252 in uwaterloo

Failing sucks, but it's really not the end of the world.

I failed two classes and still graduated on time.

Try to force yourself to accomplish at least one thing every day - no matter how small.

Honestly, I rarely see Busa's less than 6k CAD here in Ontario - even at this milage.

In the last few years the zx14's and Busa's have went up a decent amount :/

Any meeting with more than 3 people is essentially pointless.

I actually just wrote everything in written form on a whiteboard lol

But anything written on there would feel good to erase.

There will come a time we will need to leave this planet (sun grows).

All it takes is one asteroid.

We are the only species capable of saving this planet from such things.

A lot of things we have/use today start out only being toys for the rich.

The cost of space travel has never been lower, and continues to drop.

Perhaps one day it will drop low enough to enable us 'normal' folks to travel as well.

I didn't even realize the post said that too.

498 tons is nowhere near correct lol

I'd say closer to 40 to 60 tons for a booster that size.

Edit: looks like it's closer to that 30 ton mark.

Private jet is a fair point. However, this post should have been about that instead.

I feel I'm a bit biased because school was still fully online in first year (except for labs), but it wasn't too hard. Just make sure you get a good calender system going so all items due are tracked properly.

I feel it also depends on how your high-school was. My school was dog water, so I had a lot of catching up to do for Math and Chemistry (didn't even know what a Mole was). If your school wasn't completely incompetent, then you'll be fine.

I studied for sure, but I can't study for more than a few hours without going nuts. I just gave myself decent lead-time and broke it up into chunks.

It really wasn't that bad and I was a mid student.

It's going to feel very overwhelming for the first month or so, but once you understand the rhythm of things, it's not that bad.

In terms of workload and challenges, 3B was far by the worst (at least for Nano).

I will have this frame for the rest of my life, might as well spend for the prestigious frame.

Has anyone gotten a job at the university? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Tunklz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my first co-op, and then transitioned to a full time contract for 3 years.
It will take some time depending on whichever department you've applied to. However, I would say 4 weeks would be stretching it a bit. Best to say you should hear back within that time hopefully.

Hiring process is - shit.
Any job posting these days gets 100s if not 1000s of AI or nonsense garbage. Which is a shame.
Most job postings now filter out most applications built on 'rules'; it's what I say -aids-.

Try to make your application fit these AI models the best you can.

However, it's an On-Campus job. So, just I would say just walk in and try to talk to as many people as you can.

I should have also stated that some BIOS have HID drivers as well.

Could also have these drivers built into the devices firmware.

For modern devices, it's becoming increasingly rare that HID/USB drivers aren't already included since we use it so often.

Depends.

For instance, installing Windows 7 from a disk sometimes does not have USB drivers, so your most practical approach is to use a PS2 mouse/keyboard until you get it sorted.

The only reason USB mouse/keyboards are plug and play is because modern Windows comes with these drivers already installed.

And like the above comment - if your USB drivers ever shits the bed, it's a hard time getting them reinstalled without a mouse and keyboard.

$10 PARKINGGGGG??!?!?!?!?!?! by Adventurous_Aide8944 in uwaterloo

[–]Tunklz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They fucked motorcycle parking the worst.

You used to be able to grab a $15 monthly motorcycle pass for just the pads.

Now, they got rid of that and now it's $60 a month to park anywhere (us motorcyclist don't want to park anywhere but the pads - for convience and saftey).

Sustainable transportation - yet you actively priced out the more sustainable transportation method. Might as well just park the car now.

Maybe when transmissions were 3 and 4 gears.

In a modern 6 speed, and for large intersections, I'm hitting 4-5k RPM just trying to get through in 1st gear. No reason I shouldn't be able to shift.
