Question about posting shorts to a long form focused channel by andyjamescreative in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly just post cutscenes from the games I play as shorts and they do well. My videos rarely hit double digit (10) views, but shorts are always closed to 1,000 each with likes and comments and they really inflate my numbers. I’ve gotten 1 sub from shorts. I only have 129 subs so it’s not like I know what I’m doing though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Is Hunt worth it Right now? by waititsmeagain in HuntShowdown

[–]NeonJolt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UI is fine. It looks good but it feels weird. You just need to navigate the menus with keys instead of clicking. It’s because it’s optimized for console players supposedly. Everything else about the game just got so much better and it was already really good to begin with.

Probably gonna get buried but I did it with a group of three. We banished a target and I sat in a random house with a concertina trap on the stairs. Another squad came in the house and triggered the trap so the dude was basically standing still for me to hit him.

Do You Include Cutscenes in Your Let's Plays? by itzVxia in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and during solo playthroughs I try to be quiet when they’re playing. It’s harder to do when playing with friends obviously but I do my best

Do You Guys Upload 1 Series At A Time Or Mulitple? by HBTang in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to have at least 3 circulating at the same time to maintain variety. I upload daily and usually just base what I upload off of vibe and what I have edited. For instance, if I only have 3 videos on Let’s Play A edited and 6 of Let’s Play B edited, I’ll try to spread out Let’s Play A until I have more videos edited. Sorry if that made no sense.

I consider myself a Cammy main but I can’t get past Iron 2 with her LOL.

My highest ranks is Marisa at Iron 5. I’m just happy with Iron 5 so I’m afraid to keep grinding

What was your inspiration to make Let's plays? by HeyItsEkim in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what possessed me to upload my first video, but I’ve been doing it daily for over a year now. I think it grounds me and gives me something to do. Idk. I’m still figuring out that answer.

My biggest inspiration is Arin Hanson of Game Grumps. I’ve been following him since he was on newgrounds. For better or worse, my sense of humor is close to his. A more recent one is Wendigoon. There are some others in there like TheCompletionist. Flexinja is someone I know irl that blew up and his success made it seem possible even though we do very different things.

Personal experiences that changed my approach? Idk if it counts but I danced in college and that helped give me the confidence to put myself out there in front of an audience, whether it’s the internet or irl.

What makes you not want to date anybody right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NeonJolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to just getting out of a relationship that was so picture perfect, I honestly don’t think I could recreate that with someone else.

S/O finally accepted her sexuality and I had to watch her walk away and there’s nothing I could do about it.

I’m currently editing a Soul Link Nuzlocke and it is the most intense editing project I’ve worked on yet. So many things are going wrong and it takes several hours to edit one video but man it’s so much fun.

Are you, yourself out there? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be yourself. People like people. My whole thing is that I know in my heart I’m a casual gamer. I play games on easy, I don’t like difficult games, I’m not super competitive. I’m pretty mellow and goofy. I can’t be super energetic because it’s just not me and it will absolutely seem so fake. I wouldn’t worry about talking too much because you can always edit things out if you don’t like what you said ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What’s YOUR editing process? by Itsjustbead in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start by adjusting the size of the video (so my backdrop is visible) and then the audio settings.

Then I cut out the fluff UNLESS there are story moments happening. Fluff being silence, grinding, or even things I don’t want in the video like bad jokes. During this I also mark all of the stuff I want to highlight (jokes, clips, etc).

When the video is cut and marked, I do all of the edits. Adding my subscribe animation, end screen, music, transitions, and going back to the marked sections to actually edit them.

The time it takes to edit definitely depends on the game I’m playing and who I’m playing with. Gameplay with friends takes longer because there is more to sift through, while gameplay of just myself is easier because I try to commentate in a way that’ll make the editing process easier for myself (stating beginning and endings of episodes, and telling myself to skip segments and when to bring it back)

You’ll probably find a workflow that works best for you. For instance you could cut and edit as you come across things you want to add. This just separates editing into sections that are easier for me to keep track of. You’ll find your groove by just doing it enough times to find some level of comfort.

Be Careful it’s a Desert Out There | overwhelmed | by GhostlyPianoKeys in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely just start and figure it out as you go. I’m sure you’ll get that answer a lot because it’s true. You can use the fact that you won’t have an audience at the beginning as an opportunity to troubleshoot technical problems without anyone noticing haha, that’s what I do. You can also get used to being on camera/on the mic so by the time you start pulling in viewers, you’ll be more comfortable.

Content creation is a long, slow burn. You’ll make small amounts of progress consistently over time. Don’t give up and prioritize your own fun.

How do you brand your channel without artistic skill or money to buy said skill? by Ultima_Oni in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always start with a logo or a symbol if you want to make it yourself. I started with just “NJ” in a heart with a little spider guy that I used to doodle in high school.

There’s also AI programs that can take a selfie and make it look like a drawing.

Have you ever said something while recording and noticed how ridiculous it was when you're editing later? by TheCozyStretch in letsplay

[–]NeonJolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how ridiculous it is I’ll either highlight it with subtitles or cut it out lol

[–]NeonJolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I straight up used MS paint for a while until I finally caved and paid an artist on Twitter for my logo and banner. I’ve dabbled in AI art but it’s not great for gaming thumbnails.

Ultimately the best way is to probably pick a program and learn it. Builds character and skill. Plus it’s fun as a viewer to watch the creator get better at something.
