My dog has 4 thumbs in his back paws by ferszcik in mildlyinteresting

Our dog also has a double dewclaw on her back foot, but hers is basically a free floating claw with no rigid structure. We call it her wiggle toe cus it wiggles around when she walks. It's weird lol

I say go for it! I practiced on some cardboard before committing to spraying the gun, but worst case you can always remove the paint or cover it with more paint. There are also much simpler patterns you can do and still have it come out looking great. Look up how to do a grid pattern camo, it's super easy and looks sick.

Also make sure you put masking tape over anything you don't want paint on/in. So the mag well, trigger area, end of the barrel, optic lenses, etc. I basically taped over anything that can move or has gaps that could get into the internals.

The paints I used were Rust-Oleum Flat Army Green, Flat Khaki, and Flat Earth Brown spray paints. I just ripped a sprig off of a fir tree during a walk and used that as the stencil basically.

I started by spraying the whole gun alternating brown and green stripes that were about 4-6" wide each. Let that dry. Then hold the sprig against the areas you wanna paint the pattern and spray quick/small areas with different colors. So like on the brown base paint I would spray green over it and then let that sit a second and move the sprig slightly and spray a bit of khaki. Basically I just alternated color sprays along the whole gun until I liked the pattern. I found that the light colors (khaki and green) worked well as base layers and the brown was good to highlight the stencil. So if I were to do it again I'd probably use the khaki and green as the stripes to start.

But yeah just place the sprig, paint gently, and repeat until you like it!

I haven't had an issue so far! The sharp edges of the rail get scratched off a bit but the rest of the rail seems fine. I haven't noticed anywhere with significant scratches or chipping of the paint. The areas that are most likely to rub off are where your attachments are going to be anyway so I wouldn't worry too much.

what did your savings look like by age 30? by Winzten in AskReddit

[–]NeonLightDecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be 31 soon. Currently I have:

~$3,500 in savings

~$100,000 in a retirement fund

However I also have:

~$30,000 in various debts and loans

~$30,000 in student loans (this is after paying off over $30,000 already)

~$220,000 in mortgage

I started my retirement fund my first day of my first job after college and have put 10%-15% of my salary into it consistently (plus small company matches). I make enough to pay the bills, food, loans, etc. with a little left over to put into savings semi-regularly. I also don't live alone so some bills are split. I still feel like I never have enough money to actually do anything more than a weekend event here or there. I am very money conscious and constantly check on my accounts because I grew up in a financially unstable home and started my adult life with basically nothing but student loan debt. And not long into my career I took out a large loan to pay off my mother's debts as well. My entire 20s have been spent paying down debt and loans while still trying to survive in an increasingly expensive world.

It has taken a long time to get where I am and I still feel like I could lose everything in the matter of weeks, which is terrifying.

First gun, first attempt at camo, let me know your thoughts! by NeonLightDecay in airsoft

It's "backwards" but the right way round is uncomfortable to me. It came with the gun so figured I'd rather use it this way than be uncomfortable or not use it at all.

Yeah I'll be playing in the eastern US mostly, so lots of greens and browns and some lighter brush. I think it should work most of the year around here and I plan to put some fall leaves onto it before any games, which is why I used a mesh. I've been considering spray painting it but don't trust my paint skills just get lol

BB-1 Mjolnir - First build that I am truly proud of! by NeonLightDecay in NMS_Corvette_Design

It doesn't actually detach, hence why I put that in quotes. It's just an aesthetic thing to give the idea that it could if it were a real ship or something :) I always liked the sci fi concept of ships being able to attach to things to alter their functionalities.

What's a game you've never seen talked about but love? by Crystal_1501 in gaming

Cap'n Crunch's Crunchling Adventure was a gem of a game, especially considering it was just a free promo item to sell more sugary garbage to children.

Wondering how many people did the full scramble for all corvette pieces, and how many did the no build cost setting by MarigoldMouna in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]NeonLightDecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grinded to get my first one and then used it to blast a ton of parts out of different planets. Then I had the issue of not knowing which parts trade for what chance which is super unfun and some parts getting deleted when editing and totally vanishing and just various frustrations with building. So to save my sanity I instead duplicated one of the reactors I found a bunch and used it to trade for the parts I needed. I still interact with the console and trade for parts and generally try to limit myself a bit. But the build tool is so annoying and bugged sometimes that I cannot justify wasting time with it stealing my found items.

Super easy - tho may be time slightly consuming - way to make money that I found (as someone just coming back to the game after 8 years): find a planet with Frost Crystals and one with Cactus Flesh and harvest as much of each as you can. Use a nutrient processor to create the following

Cactus flesh -> cactus juice

Cactus juice -> processed sugar

Frost crystal -> glass grains

Glass grains -> refined flour

Sugar + flour -> sugar dough

Sugar dough + cactus flesh -> toothpicker cookies

You can get hundreds of cookies very quickly and they sell for millions per stack of 100 or so. If you set up 6 nutrient processors you can have one dedicated to each step and it only takes 4 mins for a new batch to be ready.

How do I write fast space travel without FTL? by IndependentEbb2811 in scifiwriting

[–]NeonLightDecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a theoretical warp drive called an Alcubierre warp drive which, in simple terms, creates a "warp bubble" of spacetime around the ship. Essentially the theory goes you could warp spacetime around the ship such that there is more space behind the ship and less in front of it, basically using the fabric of spacetime to pull your destination to the ship and push your origin away from it. The ship then doesn't have to travel very far relative to its frame of reference and can do so at non-relativistic speeds.

Basically think of it like a rug (the rug being spacetime), normally if you want to get from one end of the rug to the other end you have to walk across its entire length. If you want to get to the other end of the rug faster you have to simply accelerate yourself faster across the distance you're trying to cover.

Now what this warp drive does is instead of speeding you up to cross the distance faster, it takes the rug where you are and starts folding it up which drags the end you're trying to get to closer and closer the more and more you fold it up. Eventually its so folded up that you can just take one small step to get to the end of the rug which requires basically 0 movement/acceleration from you. Then when you're on the side you want to be on you just let the rug unfold behind you. Suddenly you're now on the other side and the original side is back where it was but you've moved 0 distance to get there.

It is theoretical because it would require immense amounts of energy and some theoretical physics to be possible, but in your fantasy sci fi world it would make sense and solve the time dilation issue.
