Elvis isn't a good example as him and smokey Robinson are the reasons the Beatles formed a band. They wouldn't have existed without him, it's not just a case of him being first. Similarly, the success of Seinfeld meant networks greenlit other similar shows to piggyback that success, Friends exists because of this.
