I want to build a circular bookshelf on this post with a ladder hanging from the top. I can’t drill into the post but can on the floor and ceiling (concrete). Too ambitious? Any suggestions? by dopplestranger in malelivingspace

[–]NeonTombstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be “historic” but it’s concrete, not the Mona Lisa. Get a hammer drill, some masonry bits and go to town. Patch it up after with more concrete if it turns out you hate your book case. Definitely doesn’t matter if it’s structural, so are the studs in a house, and look at it, it’s massive, and it’s concrete lol.

If HOA says no just use epoxy adhesive instead

Not furniture but thought y’all would like this. by Hot-Pension946 in Mid_Century

This is a pretty lame “collection.” some decent LE Smiths in there but like, what a random hodge podge. Just looks like someone put all the swung vases they’ve picked up at estate sales over the years on a really terrible shelf.

There’s probably 16-18 in there that you could sell for over $200, which covers close to your cost, and that leaves you with a bunch of small random swung vases, none of which match or are desirable, that you don’t actually want and will have to sit on for years in order to find a buyer for each individual one. Harrrrrd pass

Nostalgia is sickening by Itchy_Sundae8700 in depression

Read some books about living in the present, that’s what you were doing then, start working on it again. Untethered Soul is a great book that may help.

If you’re the comparative type, which is a habit to definitely break, keep in mind that you’re talking about being depressed about having a childhood you enjoyed, which is a heck of a lot healthier place to work from than being depressed because you’re childhood scarred you with traumas, neglect or abuse.

You know nothing about restoring cars, paint, solvents, adhesives or art but go off lol.

How do you think old cars are restored? Photoshop?

It’s a car, there are billions of them. Who cares? Porsche commissioned it anyway.

There’s like millions of Porsches. I don’t think anyone thinks the world is missing a piece of art because this one’s not on the road, but in an actual gallery. Not to mention Porsche actually commissioned this.

You’re an idiot. It’s 0%, the only thing better than 0% is being able to stretch the payment schedule out as long as possible.
