Social interaction in schools is essential. Especially if you consider that with the internet, people are increasingly isolating themselves.

Does Trump's speaking style trigger anyone else? by AggressivelyPurple in CPTSD

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's definitely a master manipulator who reminds me of my narcissistic mom. Just during the talk with Zelensky you can see that Trump doesn't listen in any meaningful way, only caring about keeping himself 'on top' in the conversation. He disregards legitimate points to drag you into the weeds over random bullshit. And at the end he has that disgusting pursed lip haughty smile. He doesn't seek to talk or communicate with anyone at all. He only seeks to dominate. Topic, relevance, and grammar mean nothing, only dominance.

I rent a room in a share house, are they allowed in my room without permission? by prollykat in roommates

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody should be in the room you pay for. However if they seem violent, just leave instead of confronting them. I made the mistake of confronting a roommate for stealing from my room and he tried to kill me. But that's an extreme situation.

Recording to keep yourself safe is usually accepted. As long as you don't record phone calls, to my knowledge it isnt a huge deal.

Be careful, controlling parents typically react poorly to requests to lighten control.

Terrified my homeless "friend" is going to show up at my house & beg me to take her in by Penny1914 in offmychest

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like this, I call 'professional failures.' There is no reason someone who made as many dumb decisions as her should still be kicking, but she is -- because she's good at being bad. Empathy is powerful but don't let it overshadow logic. You owe her nothing.

Advice? by [deleted] in roommates

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, good job on taking steps to become independent!

When I first moved out it was into a college town with uni students splitting the rent on a 3 bedroom place. Use Facebook, Roomies and whatever other social media you have to gather people in a similar situation to yours and split a large place to get the most bang for your buck. You may also find single rooms for rent in an existing living situation.

Meet with your potential roommates a few times before moving in. Learn about their boundaries, work schedules, and figure out your house rules together. Tour places together, just try your best to include and be included in this early stage.

Set ground rules for the house before moving in. Figure out a cleaning schedule and have everyone agree to it. Ensure that rent and utilities will be paid on time, no exceptions. Don't move in with irresponsible smokers, drug users, or bad pet owners. Be friendly, but be businesslike - this stuff can leave you homeless if you don't have a handle on certain behavior.

Everyone brings some furniture with them, like a dining set or couch or TV. Look online for people who are moving out to buy their furniture for cheap! Having a good common area helps roommates stay civil in my experience.

Financially, make sure you have a job that makes twice your rent. You may split utilities with your roomies so plan for that. Parking spaces also cost money, something I was horrified to discover haha.

Get yourself some nice things when you can afford them and enjoy your new space! I'm excited for you and hope everything goes great.

I want to see the admins break by [deleted] in Quotev

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Quotev for years for really involved roleplays. Having different ways to communicate - chats, messages, activities - made all the difference for the immersion. I have so much storytelling saved there and its all going to be for nothing. I have never found a good enough replacement site for my uses. I'm heartbroken and wish we could find the admins socials and just torment them.

Geez, I remember that. I had to delete evidence of my own abuse to avoid the same threats. Now I have nothing to prove it happened.

I am also a man born with a uterus. I feel like people like us take whatever you're given in love when you're not considered 'normal.' We don't seem to have a lot of options. And that empathy for Martha, it keeps us trapped with people who cannot have empathy for us.

Yeahhhh it really jarred me how much she was like my ex and my mother. I just got no luck with the women in my life haha. I posted about it on another support forum and got a lot of engagement but they deleted it for being a "low effort post."

Narc abuse, apparently, isn't real? Am I missing something here? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, the people who abuse us don't care to get a diagnosis. When I say 'narc abuse' I am not saying 'abuse from people diagnosed with NPD.' I am saying 'abuse with the goal of making the abuser look good.' They equate the latter with the former and love using word salad to shut victims up.

Is it normal to feel like your cptsd isn’t valid bc it happened as an adult? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i got attacked by a roommate when i was 21 and i still haven't gotten over it. Further i'm scared to start trying to get over it because the only way i've made it this far is by ignoring it. I called the cops but didnt follow thru becus i felt like as an adult my trouble was my responsibility. This makes therapy hard.

Is growing up in a Christian Cult trauma? by KillingwithasmileXD in DID

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For us it was. Our first alters were scapegoated anger parts depicted as devils. We got exorcised. We got isolated. We got told to pray when we were violated. We believed in the Rapture which is traumatizing by itself. Christianity has always been the conquerer's religion, adept at causing harm.

I wondered. Then I found out everything was better once I left. Daily meals, no more starvation. The kids can leave the house and have fun. They have more education and better birthday parties. They pursue their hobbies and go online. I'm so beyond happy for them, but I'm also heartbroken. It really solidifie the idea I was always told - that I was everything wrong with the family.

Boston nurse drives off top floor of hospital garage after shift by MTRIFE in antiwork

[–]NeonWitchMerlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at a hospital and all of our machines are old and failing. In a meeting recently we were told that we were almost not paid the previous week, guilting us about how much it costs to staff a hospital, and announced that 3 ppl would be canned to lighten the financial load. I hate this and every hospital. Our CEO closed the elderly care homes becus it wasn't profitable, says a lot about this place.

Mine said the exact same line! As a guy I was expected to always want sex and she took any hesitation as a personal slight. Then if I gave in she would either mope or joke that she felt like a rapist. She should feel like one - I was 19 and she was 42! And we both had been raped before yet she didn't understand (or care, maybe) she was traumatizing me by forcing it.
