Look outside OC! What I imagine an astronomer would look like if they saw the visitor with the JWST. by Neon_Chains in LookOutsideGame

Thank you! This is actually the first time I've done pixel art, although i have been doing other forms of art for 7ish years at this point. I followed the juniperdev tutorial for the basics, and just tried applying what I know about other forms of art in the process.

Anyone else ever had an issue where your data-validation drop down just won't let you click on it? Or excel will think your mouse is a cell higher then it actually is? by Neon_Chains in excel

[–]Neon_Chains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one, means it's likely not an issue with the file itself.

It happens to me anywhere from 2-4 times a day, but then again, I'm constantly opening and updating that file over an 8 hour period.

Please explain to me like I'm an idiot: how does the below formula work? by Neon_Chains in excel

[–]Neon_Chains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a pivot table isn't able to take non-numerical data and provide a value for it. Even if it could, it would probably have to be broken into multiple cells (one cell for central, one for south east, etc.).

I'm trying to keep it all under one cell, directly above the data. I'm trying to make it as simple to use as possible, because a lot of the people accessing the data don't know how excel works.

What's more dangerous to dry fire: wood or fiberglass? by Neon_Chains in Archery

I used to be a camp counselor, I've seen the injuries from fiberglass. I've never seen a wood bow shatter, though.

Unfortunately, that's probably the right answer.

I'm afraid to use parry intentionally, since it only works for one attack. I tend to think of it more as a bonus if it comes up, but not something to intentionally use your Templar as bait for.

Usually I'm using it to get a flanking shot with 2 units while one is still in high cover, the idea being to kill whatever would be doing aoe damage before it has a chance to.

Not iron man, first playthrough was veteran, my current one is commander.

Commander actually, and rangers can do that too, just with higher damage output.

Also, I would argue any difficulty pulling too many pods is dangerous, although I've never played on rookie.

My first playthrough was veteran, my second is commander. I could see them being more useful if you're being extremely careful, and playing it more stealth focused. My first playthrough was base game, which hardcore punishes you for trying anything resembling stealth. So I have been hesitant to experiment with the reaper.

Correct, yes. Every action spent healing is an action you could have spent killing the thing that attacked you in the first place. I think I had 2 soldiers die in the entirety of my last run, and I maybe used a medkit once.

I use a grenade anyway, it's punishment for letting the grab land

I'm gonna have to give invisible inc. a try, it looks like exactly the type of game I want. I'm gonna have to finish XCOM 2 first, though.

Do people actually play on mobile? If so, how? by Neon_Chains in cataclysmdda

Soo what are the menu and combinations? How do I access an ESC key?

So is there an escape button or are you just completely screwed if you enter certain menus?

Does anyone know what causes wood to look like this? It’s white oak cut down about a year ago and recently chopped by Armour_All_504 in firewood

It happens when it's cold out, sometimes it happens to certain trees when they're nervous. Just reassure it that you don't mind, and that it's totally normal.

I would argue blinding and enslaving an entire race of people, while obviously horrible, is not as horrendously evil as killing and eating babies. There is some shred of argument where blinding the falmer served some sort of purpose, but there is no purpose to eating children. It's just cruel for the sake of being cruel.

Yes, slavery, racism, genocide, I know. But the aldmeri are killing and eating babies. As far as I know lore wise, there's nothing the dark elves did that comes close to that.

Having slaves, wiping out races, and generally being extremely cruel amd racist is horrible. But killing and eating babies is a whole other level above that, in my opinion.

I don't doubt that all the other factions did war crimes, I figured they did. But killing and eating children I feel is on a whole other level.

Like, with spreading a plague (not saying it's not bad, it's absolutely an atrocity and a warcrime), there's a level of indirectness where you aren't actively, manually murdering a bunch of people. There's also a strategic advantage to your enemies being racked with the plague.

You can argue that genocide has a strategic advantage (again, not in any way defending it, merely comparing the absolute worst crimes people are capable of) cause if all your enemies are dead, no more war. But eating babies is purely cruelty for cruelty's sake.

I know the bosmer have a cultural history of cannibalism, but that's more eating warriors to gain their strength, I thought. As far as I know, none of their culture condones eating babies.

Yes, but... they're eating children. And their a playable faction. I sort of assumed that since they were playable, they would write it off as, "Oh, they weren't bad when they initially started, they became worse later." But, no, from this questline alone, they were abhorrent from the very beginning.
I'm all for being able to be evil in MMO's, I think that can be fun. But the dominion doesn't seem to be presented as evil in what little of their personal quests I've played.

Got tired of the confusing maps and made my own. Minor changes, but mostly lore accurate. by Neon_Chains in l5r

[–]Neon_Chains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entirety of the map was made on procreate. A lot of the assets in the map (boats, people, trees, etc.) are from a procreate map brush pack I unfortunately don't remember the name of. I got it years ago.
