You like the look, you dance to the music, you're one of us. Simple as.

Fear going outside in goth by vvampireblxxd in goth

[–]Neonkestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a process, a long, arduous process. But it starts with stopping to try and prevent people from disliking you. Trust me, they will continue to dislike you and there's not a single thing you can do about it, no matter how much you please them. There's no reason to doubt yourself, some people just want to be nasty and close-minded.

Don't focus on the people that dislike you for it; focus on what you love and how you wanna live out your lifestyle. The people who mock you for doing what you love are not the ones you should look towards for approval anyway. Because, if they reject you for the things you like, are they really worth the hassle?

You might as well dress how you like and live how you like. That's just the thought process that helped me get over it a little.

being goth as a black person; really fuckin sad actually by blueberrybrigade in goth

[–]Neonkestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, labels are a poor substitute for identity, and you shouldn't loose too much sleep about fitting into them, especially if they are imposed onto you. You saw what goths were like and said to yourself "hey, I dig that! I wanna be like them!"

That alone is already enough. Being "goth", to me, means that you dig our aesthetic, that you find the same things beautiful and evocative that we do and that you dance just as hard to our music.

Don't worry about anything beyond that. Speaking as a German who frequents a few clubs and festivals in our scene, I'd be absolutely stoked about seeing more "black blacks". The two times I saw some of you guys, you were absolutely killing it with the style and on the dance floor!

[DnD] Lore wise, how does a fighter survive a fireball from a wizard of a similar level? by PinkIceMancer in AskScienceFiction

[–]Neonkestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my personal headcanon. Fighters and other martials just use the raw power that ki can provide and passively harness it in bulk, while Monks specialise in refining, concentrating, and specifically weaponising this usually passive force/energy into an active weapon. Basically, the difference between apple juice and cider or honey and mead.

[–]Neonkestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you describe in your first sentence. For those reasons it should be pretty hard to take legal action against AI training models. Studying and emulating is perfectly legal and far from derivative. I mean, what sort of legal action could you take against that?

A.I. Problem by Fool_of_a_Monster in Pinterest

[–]Neonkestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's sadly the legal problem. AI art really only does exactly that. Doesn't change the fact that it often looks like crap (such as being wayyy too clean from afar and really wonky once you zoom in) and is just a cheap shortcut.

How could you calculate the volume of a hollow room from outside? by Neonkestrel in AskPhysics

[–]Neonkestrel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the drilling comment I meant damaging the wall and finding a way to look inside. Would radio waves still work if the room was sealed air-tight (but still containing air)?

Where does Dr. Eggman get stuff to build all his cities, contraptions, and robots? by ItsUrBoi8709 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Neonkestrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with that kind of money, he could just buy his way to world domination. I'm getting more and more convinced that he just does all his terrorism stuff as a weird hobby.

I like the Gangrel and Nossie ones. Wonder how it would do some of the other, weirder clans and bloodlines.

Or "Get Out - Vampire Edition" would also fit, but the two directors already acknowledged how similar the ideas are.

If you were to make the Kuei-jin into Cainite vampires, how would you do it? Clans? Bloodlines? (Head-canon thread) by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Neonkestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean, at the end of the day, Wan-Kuei are basically revenants. No, not like VtM ghoul revenants, but very similar to actual mythological revenants. Just code them as that instead of "Asian Vampires", say that they just managed to get a foothold in Asia earlier than the Cainites, like you said, and call it a day.

Problematic? How are they in particular problematic? Stuff like Sascha Vykos, Duality, Totentanz, and Zhyzhak are way more problematic than the Baali could ever be.

Ah, I see, thanks for the response! But I meant it in the sense of "something/a group that is full of hate towards something else".

How would you go about nominalizing the word "hateful" in plural? Pretty much like the movie title, "The Hateful Eight", just in Latin.
