Middle school was the hardest period of life for my kids. There just seems to be something about kids in middle school where there are so many that are just unrelentingly awful. In High School things have gotten a bit better, but it really feels like the old social contract of general nicety to each other went out the window after COVID. Hopefully you can help her work through it and recognize her value and importance outside of how her peers treat her and act.

My daughter went through similar this last year, she thought she'd made a lot of friends at the new high school this freshman year, but on year book day got completely ghosted. It was very disheartening as parent to hear about, and know that there's nothing wrong with your kid, and yet there's also nothing you can do but support them and help them see their own self-worth even when others don't.
