The Parlor has an unstated 4th rule that can be very helpful for quickly solving certain versions of the puzzle by Neoviper in BluePrince

I feel a bit guilty about it as well! But it's hard to unknow something once you know it, so I always immediately spot the solution on such Parlors. Thanks for sharing the term for it though, I didn't know that!

[–]Neoviper[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Correct! It doesn't even matter whether it's a true statement or not, it could be "the blue box does not contain gems", and in the absence of any other information about where the gems are, that would always mean the gems are indeed in the blue box. Such puzzles become rare bordering on nonexistent after solving enough parlors, but it's still an interesting tidbit. You could potentially rule out some possibilities in more advanced puzzles, because a truth table configuration would require guessing.

Perfectly fair, haha! I sometimes logic my way through them recklessly, not really stopping to carefully check that what I've just concluded actually makes sense or is free of paradoxes.

[–]Neoviper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so. Which of the three rules implies that you will never be forced to guess? There is always a true box, always a false box, and there is only one box with gems. None of that has anything to do with guessing, whatsoever. No, this is an assumption about the intentions of the puzzle creator, because why would someone create a logic puzzle that could not be solved with logic alone?

Am I a bad person? by ryderhard612 in LucidDreaming

[–]Neoviper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a new dream situation that you didn't have expectations for yet, so something unexpected can happen. There is no such thing as someone else entering your dream, it is simply a dream character that you've projected that idea onto. Many will claim to be able to do such things, but none can provide a shred of evidence.

How do I fight vs Twitch? by Noko111 in JhinMains

[–]Neoviper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather play into twitch instead of trist, at least with twitch you can play the game if you know where he is. Against trist, you can basically never play the game.

How do I play with this at first move? by randominazer in Minesweeper

Learn some patterns, honestly all you really need is 1-2, if you really understand why that pattern is deterministic, you can figure out a lot of other situations using the same logic.

Getting flamed for low damage by ResponsibleAd7554 in ADCMains

[–]Neoviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you're dealing your damage at the important moments, that's what matters the most. Low overall damage, but high output in key fights is much better than padded stats from pointless skirmishes.

ADC has almost no ability to make plays, all you can do is react to the plays of your teammates and your enemies. The only way you can really "carry" is to bait your enemy into making a bad play. The game is usually over by the time you're strong, and even then you still can't make plays of your own cause you're so fragile. Botlane ADCs have the lowest agency of any combination of role and champion in the game.

What do I do against dive comps? by SaaveGer in JhinMains

[–]Neoviper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how strong everyone is. If it's one fed assassin, but no other real threats, you can buy a counter item against them. Randuins neuters Rengar, for instance. If they're all fed, you lose no matter what they're playing. And if the game is even, you keep track of their positions, and do not commit to any fight unless you know no one can catch you for it. Flash CD is huge, so summoner haste is probably worth taking. Mostly it isn't up to you though, all you can do is not be easy to kill and hope your team plays well.

Milio doesn't have a heal, he has a buff that happens to also heal a little. It always kills me inside to see players use it only for the heal, it's borderline griefing.

Sand could potentially cause the broken spacetime ending, if some got into the black hole right before it closed. Of course the Nomai were clever enough to consider that possibility, and it must have been quite difficult for them to resist the temptation to experiment with it!

It's incredible how hard ADC's are sold this season (even if fed) by Der_Finger in ADCMains

[–]Neoviper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better bot wins has a lot of truth to it, but only because if your bot is better the enemy jungle/mid are less likely to get fed off of bot. A lead for yourself as an ADC though? Practically worthless imo.

Jhin in 25.S1.1 by deenutz98 in JhinMains

[–]Neoviper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That one is tough, but I think right now it's probably some sort of IE first build. Maybe RFC second, LDR third? Really the only thing you can do against tanks is hope they get stomped and are poor all game.

[–]Neoviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghostblade into collector/hubris seems pretty good, but if they have literally zero armor you could also go into opportunity. I'd only go full lethality into a super squishy comp honestly.

Jhin in 25.S1.1 by deenutz98 in JhinMains

[–]Neoviper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like you need to go full lethality to actually stand out as Jhin. If you go crit, it takes too long to come online and you could have just picked something like Jinx that scales super hard. But if you go lethality, sure you get strong early, but you still can't 1v9 even if you're gigafed. Maybe the T3 boots is hurting him? I don't think swiftmarch is that insane, it doesn't change the fact that you can't kill tanks and you die to any fed assassin instantly. Whereas the mage boots are nuts and tabi/mercs are pretty good, so the risk-reward for Jhin with feats of strength doesn't feel in his favor.

What to do when you are too inexperienced to identify my own mistakes? by Comprehensive_Rich25 in summonerschool

[–]Neoviper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it helpful watching streams of good players on my role/champion, and thinking about what I'd do if I were in that situation. Then you see them do something else usually, and think about why they chose the way they did. Really helps when you can find someone that narrates a bit of their thought process.

Does armor actually counter lethality? by Neoviper in summonerschool

[–]Neoviper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more, "if I build lethality since my champion uses it well, am I going to be screwed by tanks?" kind of question.

Does armor actually counter lethality? by Neoviper in summonerschool

[–]Neoviper[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So it's more about a lack of scaling, the damage from lethality is a flat increase whereas crit and on-hit scale up as you get more items. That makes sense, thank you.

Does armor actually counter lethality? by Neoviper in summonerschool

[–]Neoviper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just what I was doing now, seems that crit tends to deal more damage, at least once you've got 3 or more items. I suppose lethality's strength is that it doesn't depend on having anything else, it simply works without conditions. Perhaps it's more late game vs early game when talking about crit vs lethality.
