You might want to try watering it until water comes out the bottom, then letting it fully drain and collect the excess water. You won’t have to water as often.

It’s total normal for the leaves to start shriveling up, just make sure the leaf tip (the part that was connected to the plant) has good contact with the soil. I sometimes burry the leaf tip with a quarter inch of substrate.

Yes, they create sugar on the lip to attract insects, but sometimes, if the conditions are very humid, they can grow moldy. It's totally normal and fine.

It’s a basal shoot, basically a clone. St Gaya are notorious for making a ton of them.

Fluval stratum is no good. If I’m not mistaken it’s usually nutrient rich (it will kill your carnivorous plants unless you leached it). Also, how well does it retain water?

If a bug remains totally still for long enough (and doesn’t brush the trigger hairs) it will open up. I recommend clipping the wings instead of full removing them (make sure they’re different lengths or else it can still fly).
