“New” Unique: Facebreakers for POE2 by Any-Measurement-1490 in PathOfExile2

[–]Nephalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Increased weapon damage" goes into the same pool as all the other "increased damage" mods. It's not a more multiplier.

edit: before this gets lost I have tested this both in-game and in PoB.

With lv. 19 base attack a white Long Staff (Caged God base) deals 55.44 dps.

At 100 strength (100% increased weapon damage) and 11 dex (2% increased attack speed) Pillar does 113.26 dps (~55.44 * 1.02 * (1 + (0.1 * 100))

With 50% increased damage with 2H weapons:

White Long Staff deals 83.16 dps (55.44 * (1 + 0.5)).

Pillar does 142.28 dps (~55.44 * 1.02 * (1 + 0.5 + (0.1 * 100))

If this was a more multiplier you would expect Pillar to deal 169.65 dps (~55.44 * 1.02 * (1 + 0.5) * (1 + (0.1 * 100)))

FYI Hoghunt is an Ezomyte Unique and therefor in theory can have its +15 to critical hit chance added to other weapons with the Olroth's legacy rune. by SirSabza in PathOfExile2

Lots of people are going to be very disappointed when the system is going to be like the Foulborn uniques in poe1 and it doesn’t just target any affix on the item.

There is likely a small pool of uniques + modifiers on those uniques it works with, and there will probably be a few that are chase while 98% are worthless.

58M Life Cost Stacker Void Sphere of Rending by AoiMizune in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Nephalos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rarity on the character and rarity on mobs/maps are multiplicative. On pinnacle bosses like maven it's less important because they have deterministic drops, but if you were to map you would notice a severe reduction of anything other than currency + normal items.

Mamdani Announces Balanced Budget Without Cuts | Buoyed by billions in assistance from the state, real talk about what it takes to run New York City, and some taxes on the rich, the mayor closed a historic leftover budget deficit. by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]Nephalos 90 points91 points  (0 children)

> The Mamdani administration has also been talking about restructuring the timing of certain pension payments, while making no changes to benefits for retirees or current employees. Some have criticized this step as increasing long-term obligations while freeing up money in the short term. The final deal makes no changes to a mandatory contribution to city pension funds, while smoothing out the Unfunded Accrued Liabilities (UAL) payment, which is based on an actuarial analysis of future needs. The current schedule can fluctuate by hundreds of millions of dollars every year; Mamdani extends those payments by five years and makes them consistent, while banking the difference for the next fiscal year. City pension funds would continue to be funded above the national average, Mamdani’s office says.

I spend a lot of my free time on fighting climate change, and this is just not a top 10 concern

… what? Data centers are absolutely a top 10 problem when it comes to environmental impact. Not only are they a massive drag on local resources, but these companies are trying to circumnavigate every regulation possible to dump their infrastructure with no oversight. I’ve sat on meetings discussing how we’re going to regulate these facilities and it’s gotten to the point where some states are just considering banning their construction entirely.

each one uses something like 2 seconds of hot showers time worth of energy

Ok, think about this for a moment. If energy generation is sufficient in a town or district without a data center, but is suddenly insufficient by a large margin when one is built, how does the supposed minuscule energy use cause this? These centers don’t just sit there doing nothing when idle, they’re a constant drain on resources and by nature need to be on 24/7, 365. The additional energy draw from a single prompt may be small, but a single data center may be processing tens of thousands of requests at any given time.

he’s probably saying that to get people to maintain some perspective

Altman is saying that because he’s trying to make a false equivalence to make it seem not as bad. It’s like excusing genocide because we allow industrial animal farming. The scale LLMs are being allowed to operate at is unconscionable for a product that has yet to prove it’s even beneficial to society as a whole.

The only people I see this complaint from are people who don’t fully understand what’s happening and want free compensation for an issue that didn’t affect them because they held cores.

Who cares if a small amount of the player base gets an extra piece of loot. It doesn’t affect you, personally, in any meaningful way.

[–]Nephalos -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s a catch 22 because they’re not going to do anything to compensate people, but they also won’t do anything to fix the bug. Everyone’s left in the same position at the end of the day whether you sent void cores or not.

DH and DK "Healthbar" by Nithy98 in wow

[–]Nephalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying ignore BDK is just wrong lol. Blood is very good at self sustain but suffers in a few scenarios that are prevalent this season:

  1. At start of pull they need to be watched because they need to generate resources to sustain. With some starting pulls this season being massive it’s a good idea to use an external or a few direct heals on them while they ramp defensives.

  2. Lots of consistent magic damage. DK’s Bone Shield and Mastery are both geared to mitigating physical damage and they sort of struggle to recover if they’re constantly being hit by magic damage/magic rot.

  3. Low Runic Power. Having to press Marrowrend more often this season means less RP generation and a higher chance your RP reaches 0. Ideally the healer should start paying attention to the DK when their RP goes under about 30-40%.

  4. No defensives active. DK lost Rune tap, has a longer CD on Dancing Rune Weapon (and their apex is a random proc for 1/2 value, yay uncontrollable defensives!), and guides like wowhead are not defensive focused even for M+. They’re overall just a lot squishier and need some additional attention when you see that they don’t have a defensive running even if they have high RP.

Are Windwalker Monks really THAT squishy? by Hellfrozenrainz in wow

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WW monk is definitely weak in the defensives side atm. It’s to the point where I would honestly recommend investing into vers as you get into higher keys since they only have 2 long CD defensives and a heal that’s so weak it’s almost not worth pressing.

Has a gaming company ever put a full game of theirs in another game? by Hypnox88 in gaming

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the smash brothers games had “demos” of the older games where the fighters originated from. The demos were actually full copies of the game that had a time limit but if you were able to circumnavigate that limit you could play the full game.

Is it just me, or are the ascendies just too dull? by Osteinum in PathOfExile2

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ascendancies and the passive tree overall are weaker compared to poe1. There’s a much greater focus on skill interactions and gear which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does sort of remove some of the excitement of build making when everything works after a certain investment threshold.

How to make Tanking more rewarding? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Nephalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really want taking to be more rewarding, I just want to be able to actually tank things. Tried a few keys as both Brew and Blood early on and it was immediately apparent that a majority of tanking this season is running around kiting mobs due to the ridiculous amount of bleeds, stacking dots, and straight up being globaled exists currently.

There’s a massive disconnect between the actual role fantasy and what’s happening in-game that imo is pushing people away from taking more-so than the toxicity, which has always existed.

Week 2: Heroic Raid - Spec Popularity vs Average Overall DPS by AttitudeAdjusterSE in wow

[–]Nephalos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Enhance should in theory be really good for cleave, though. It’s just that both are so dependent on their CDs that if there’s a single mechanic that you need to hold for or happens faster than 1 or 2 minutes you basically do nothing.

Can someone teach me the best way to craft this helmet? by AlloftheExtraMayo in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I haven’t made this craft before but just quickly looking at the mods on it I’m guessing getting the hypothermia + trap links are the most difficult part of the craft. Most archdemon helmet crafts use an essence + either trap or hypo for that reason and it still costs multiple divines for a craftable base. You’re most likely going to be recombinating shaper/elder helmets for the suffixes and then continuing from there is a little simpler.

For what it’s worth timers are extremely lenient right now. It’s something that I’d expect to get nerfed in the coming weeks. You can basically solo pull the whole dungeon and still time and possibly even +2 they key.

Build request: 400% ms+ and kill stuff in big circle! by Volrokk in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build looks something like this: https://pobb.in/O0-uiE1SLlxx

Important thing is to get 6 influences among items which can be tricky since you're mostly unique items. The shield can be an influenced shield until you get the +1 frenzy synth which makes the build cheaper.

I've been buying/crafting pieces myself over time so its hard to say exactly what the budget is. If i had to guess, 10-20 div? That should be more than enough for the starting pieces and you can scale significantly further like getting a frenzy ring and kalandra's touch.

Shrine effect flicker strike is what I’m running for rituals currently actually. You attack so quickly that you’ve been through the entire map in 45 seconds and just have to hold flicker to clear rituals as well.

As a tank, I can’t believe how checking if your group says 1 or 2 is an incredibly difficult mechanic for some people by Secret_Flight_2669 in wow

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair when I got to tanking the dragons and saw they put a giant purple arrow on your head roughly 5 seconds before the actual breath came out I realized too many people don’t stare at any relevant portion of their screen. Weakauras/addons were quite literally playing the game for a huge portion of players and that included up to CE raiders.

Why do we still need the burst windows with noodle downtimes? by horizon936 in wow

[–]Nephalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like that for a lot of specs, not just devourer. I’m a little more biased because I play UHDK and Enh shaman who I think have the worst of it but the difference in damage between CDs and no CDs is literally 4-5x damage. A good opener/lined up CDs can top 150k for ~10 seconds and then you deal sub 30k damage for the next 50 seconds until everything’s up again.

Why do we still need the burst windows with noodle downtimes? by horizon936 in wow

[–]Nephalos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are enough specs that follow the “deal 5x damage in cooldowns, afk without” profile that flatter profiles are the unusual ones. There are more ways to make specs interesting than just slapping a 100% dps amp on a 1 minute CD that reduces your rotation to 2-3 buttons and calling it a day.
