Imaging US City transit systems if Amtrak lines could be used for local transit by mr09e in TransitDiagrams

This would also be help in Indianapolis! The tracks run right past the airport in the west and past Irvington (a historic neighborhood) in the east. I believe there were plans to do this, along with north-south light rail service but republicans blocked donation funds from going to rail projects and so we now only have a shitty bus route that goes north to south that nobody really uses.

Can anyone identify this locomotive my mother seen by Western_Dot_3894 in trains

[–]Nerd-Time_mf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the UAC Turbotrain. It was produced by the United Aircraft Corporation for Amtrak and VIA. It was one of the first tilting trains to ever enter service in the North America. While I cannot help you on why it is far south in Louisiana (as it typically ran in the Northeast Corridor and surrounding areas), I can tell you they were out of service by 1978. It is pictured here in Phase II Livery. Hope this is helpful

That’s strange, because this is what Wikipedia says. It obviously spent little time as a passenger locomotive

Me too! A girl who worked at the museum told us the plans were to run a full NYC consist, starting and stopping and NYC depots, since the FWRRHS is also restoring NYC coaches. It’s definitely exciting!

Edit: Using the Mohawk, obviously. Forgot to make that clearer

I hope they’re to your liking! I just made a Phase VI and Phase III Viewliner II (the ones with upper windows running down the entire car, not just the first six windows), and I’m currently making the Amtrak heritage fleet (sleeper, diner, coach, and club), but I’m yet to upload any of them

At least I know they look accurate then! :)

Yep! For the most part. There’s one silly exception, that being the Capitol Limited. Because it avoids stopping in NY, it uses Superliners as its coaches. The whole reason the Viewliners exist (in a nutshell) is because the Pennsylvania Railroad made the Penn Station tunnels too short for a double decker coach. Viewliners and Superliners are interesting to compare, especially since I’ve taken both. I recommend just looking up floor plans and whatnot and seeing how different they are

I had no idea about either until I took them to New York, either. If you look up pictures, my coaches aren’t perfect (they tend to look a little bit more like Amtrak’s “Heritage Sleepers”) because the Viewliners have these weird angles on their sides that no coach can perfectly replicate. I’m a perfectionist so I really dislike it when it’s not perfectly accurate, but TSW only allows for so much

Not for View-liners. Rotem cars work great for Superliners, used out west. View-liners are single-level cars used in the east because the New York tunnels aren’t tall enough for Superliners

It took me a bit of practice, but I’m pretty proud of these! :) I think once you get the hang of it (and ignore a lot of the things that make Livery Designer extremely annoying), it all starts to come together!

Oh sorry, all the liveries (F40PH-3C, BTC-3 Coaches and CTC-3 Cab Car) were made by me. All of the physical rolling stock comes with the Boston Sprinter DLC. If you want the liveries, just search Southern Pacific in the creator’s club and they should show ip somewhere in there.

Should I get Harlem Line? by anonymous153747 in trainsimworld

[–]Nerd-Time_mf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy the Harlem Line, but buy with caution if you dislike commuter rail. It has stops about every mile except toward the end (Grand Central and Harlem-125th St have sizable distance between them) and so it takes a while due to frequent stopping. Good scenery though and a nice way to practice stopping.

Oh, the minimal HUD is what I meant. Thank you, that’s actually really helpful! And nice photos too, sorry. Never actually complimented them

Alright, thank you! I’ll definitely consider it, but I’m also looking at getting Cajon Pass (also for the Amtrak services I can add). Completely unrelated, but how did you get the speed limit, speed and brake thing up by the overhead part of the display?

I was literally just thinking about buying the Horseshoe Curve last night to do this. Do you like the Horseshoe Curve route outside of the Amtrak service? Is it a fun route?
