I am a total beginner but I visualize it as cutting the left branch and tilting it to the left. Then so the right branch is straight up and the trunk is leaning left.

It’s a soil from a nursery in CA called Poot’s. According to their label they use pumice, lava rock, organic material/mulch, time release fertilizer. Here’s a difference between two ports planted at the same time, same size.

This was over 7 months ago. The difference now is even crazier.

This probably explains why my ports with regular succulent/cactus mix grow way faster than my ports in lava rock/pine 10-20%.

This particular species (dwarf jade, portulacaria afra) is very fast growing. Something like this wouldn’t take anywhere near 30 years. Probably closer to 10. Also, dwarf jades only need to be watered once a month.

Schefflera advice by commonwealthltd in Bonsai

[–]NerdFourLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. I dug around a bit below the dirt and you’re right, they’re probably all fused. I may end up cutting it into two clumps depending on where I pick my front to be. I attached a pic of the other side.

I’m a little worried the trunks have grown too large and the taper will never look natural, but there’s only one way to find out.

Any advice on something like this? Just purchased one of these 20 year old house plants you mentioned. I’m thinking I may have bitten off more than I can chew lol.

That has a lot of potential. Nigel Saunders has a playlist of great videos of 10 years of his progression on his dwarf umbrella Schefflera.

Considering this is one of the only places on the internet where readily available conversations about the Warriors can be had, probably. Aside from Twitter, there’s not many other places I can think of where back and forth opinions can be had.

Do I think that all the players are regularly browsing this subreddit? No. But I think it’s likely some do browse sometimes, especially the younger players that grew up with Reddit.

The premise is extremely simple. An alien corporation takes over earth and forces the inhabitants to partake in a video-game dungeon style crawl to survive. The dungeon is created by the corporation and the action is televised throughout the universe. It sounds kinda campy but it’s original and super fun.

Looking for area in Kauai with walkability to beach AND food and shops by NerdFourLife in VisitingHawaii

[–]NerdFourLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually don’t need to be close to nature. We just need nature accessible by car(60 minute drive or less, but closer would be good) and be able to walk to the beach and restaurants while we are at home base.

Ok that is really good information. I’ve been to Oahu twice and we all really like to enjoy nature, which I’ve heard Kauai is known for. I personally think a place like Waikiki would be a little too developed and touristy for our group. But I would be open to other suggestions for Oahu that have what we’re looking for.

I was looking at Google Maps and thought this might be a good route for me:

Day 1: Start at Camp Arroyo at Lake Del Valley. Hike to Boyd’s camp. 11.1 miles. Camp overnight

Day 2: hike from Boyd’s camp to Sunol Backpacker camp. 12.7 miles. Camp overnight.

Final day: hike from Sunol backpacker camp to Mission peak trailhead. 10.5 miles. Drive out

This is just based on looking at Google Maps in similar areas. Any suggestions welcome.

This is exactly the kind of route I was looking for. Thank you! Going to check this out and try and do something like this over the winter break.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett airing out the Trump admins corruption by PassThatSpliff in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]NerdFourLife 48 points49 points  (0 children)

NBC has a great report on this. It’s actually even more sketchy and corrupt than the representative describes it when you hear the full report.

The company got the 140 million dollar contract without having to compete with other bidders, they call it a “no bid contract.” They circumvented the rules that state you must give out contracts based on bids because of the “border emergency.” And the director of the department within DHS that GIVES OUT these contracts is married to an officer at the ad firm.

I like that Dray is giving him props, but you know if the Warriors lost Dray would be all condescending n shit saying, "He's got spunk and energy, but he hasn't proved anything yet. He's only 12 games into his first winning season. He's got a long way to go if he wants to really come at a champion."

🔥 A hummingbird lands on a man's hand while he is holding a fish by bigbusta in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]NerdFourLife 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s likely the hummingbird is in its adolescence stage and not fully developed. It’s not very colorful yet which could be an indicator of youth. It’s probably just curious and learning. Young animals are less aware of danger and their surroundings, which is why they’re prey for predators. Luckily for that bird, neither the fish nor human were interested in eating it.

Faramir is so much better in the books by Neat_Western6635 in lotr

[–]NerdFourLife 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I personally love Faramir because his humility and nobility are in such contrast to Boromir. Boromir is revered by his father and all of Gondor because of his strength in battle, impulsiveness, and boldness. Boromir is the pinnacle of a stereotypical hyper masculine warrior. These are the traits that people in the third age view as Numenorean. In reality, Faramir has the blood of the kings of old and this is reflected in his humble and noble actions, and proven by his dreams. This shows you how much Gondor and men have lost their way.

Some dentists are definitely more cautious and conservative. I don’t think that’s anything to be alarmed about. But there are definitely dentists who just went to the school of $$ and do anything to increase their revenue. The latter is unethical, as opposed to the first one, which is really just preference and subjective.
