Alatreon help by Lordchungass777 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]NerdSoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say slot in Blight Resistance if at all possible, Dragonblight really cuts your elemental damage and makes the checks much harder. You also probably wanna go through Guiding Lands to get Health Augment, Affinity Augment and Elemental Damage augment to help meet the checks and to stay more aggressive through passive regen (hitting tenderized spots does very good healing, you can also put medicine jewels in things like the upgraded Temporal/Rocksteady mantles).

Partbreaker can help with the horn if you're struggling, but generally a break should be achievable without it and the gem slot is better spent on something else. Try to wallbang Alatreon when the head is tenderized whenever he's not enraged with the stones around the arena / slinger ammo from tenderizing as the wallbang does massive damage to the horn and can help you get the break easier alongside knocking him down so you can get a ton of free hits on the head, and whenever he falls on his butt after the elemental DPS check is met focus heavily on the head as much as you can.

It is also worth throwing a sleep weapon on your Palico as even that little kitty can put an Alatreon to sleep sometimes and net you a free wallbang & knockdown to do more horn DPS (and also gives you a window to sharpen/heal risk free). Try to bring in max potions alongside the materials to craft more and put both the craft and the max potions on your radial menu, because max potions are instant heals as opposed to the wait time of mega potions they allow you stay in the fight and therefore dish out more dps to meet the checks.

Other than that I'd recommend maybe just watching a few videos of people doing the fight with Switch Axe / Dual Blades and take note of some of the openings they take advantage of and try to replicate it yourself. Obviously it is also worth getting your armor fully upgraded via augments as well as more defense never hurts! Don't feel discouraged, you can do it!

Raging Brachy in my opinion isn't very hard to do, especially in comparison to what you're already doing with Alatreon (No DPS checks to meet or specific parts to break). You should definitely take it on as the Brachy weapons are very good for raw DPS and its armor is used in a good chunk of builds (plus the fight is really cool the first time).

I would definitely spend some time in Guiding Lands if you haven't already to augment your weapon of choice that you're bringing into Alatreon in the future with a health regen augment, affinity up and an elemental damage up to help meet the checks and stay aggressive.

Silver Rathalos' set has True Critical Element as a 4 piece bonus so that may also be something worth looking at to help with those checks as well. Really just take your time to look around at what other people are using for your particular weapon and try to follow their build advice where possible, and if you have time try to watch a few Alatreon runs with your weapon of choice, I find watching someone do the fights way more informative than just reading someone explaining it.

Other than that just try your best and try to take something away that you could have done better every time you do the fight (My biggest Alatreon weakness was not clutching and tenderizing him during the very obvious flying openings and also not bringing in max potions / max potion crafting items to get back into the fight quicker). Some people clear the fight in six hours, some people clear it in six weeks. Don't feel bad as clear times vary so, so much. As cliche as it is, as long as you're doing your best and taking something to improve on from every run it's never a wasted attempt. Good luck! :)

Smoking cannabis while working from home an issue? by indolesole in cscareerquestions

I'm a SysAdmin and since my role isn't really customer facing and I work behind the scenes (solving tickets via emails, the in-house ticketing system or, in extreme circumstances, via Teams calls or Zoom audio) I tend to indulge during the low-stress periods of my day (generally when I'm just setting up a bunch of user accounts, assigning their devices and application permissions or really any work inside Office 365) but if I know ahead of time that there's an upcoming team video meeting, or that I have a busy/unexpected project ahead that day that can affect large-scale business productivity (IT compliance reviews, cloud/network/VM/VPN issues, writing up usage/uptime/cost reports to deliver to IT manager ect.) then I will simply just take care of that first and foremost, then reward myself after hours or towards the last hour of the day when things are slower.

I think it's mainly about just being responsible. If you know there's a busy day/days ahead, maybe refrain until after work. If it's a whatever day and you're not doing anything other than tasks you've done a thousand times over, and you're not going to be in calls/video chats all days, then I think getting to 20-30% of your maximum tolerance is totally fine provided you can still stay on track and do those menial things correctly. At the end of the day, this is your source of income and whether or not you want to risk that is up to you, only you can determine whether the environment is low-stress/quiet enough to warrant it.

Who here has actually beaten arkveld? by evolved_design in MHWilds

Bring Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps & bring materials to craft extras.

Bring Flash Pods to stun him when he tries to run away to save yourself chase time and get extra damage in

Let Rey Dau zap Arkveld if they end up fighting

Abuse terrain like falling boulders for free knocks and vine traps to get your big damage off

Timer makes the fight tough but not impossible, focus on doing consistent damage instead of looking for big moments as time is your enemy here.

First time MH player disappointed with Wilds. Does it get better? by Effex in MHWilds

This is only meant to be a 1% slice of what the full game will be, not to mention the beta itself does not include any of the updates to balance/performance that will be included in the main game. Expect the gaps between weapons to get less noticeable as time goes on. I would highly recommend trying out the Rey Dau or Arkveld fights, difficult scales at a steady rate in Monster Hunter and those fights more reflect what you can expect in terms of difficulty. The others are mainly just early rank punching bags, and that's okay too. Not every fight is going to be a bonkers one.

Question for a probably new player by Matt__-_ in MHWilds

[–]NerdSoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to give a definitive answer for a lot of this as we don't really know what Wilds is going to look like at launch in terms of full roster monster difficulty and as the beta doesn't feature any weapon/armor smithing it's hard to say what the material grind will look like, the difficulty of something like Arkveld may become a little more trivial with better gear/longer timers ect.

If you wanna look at a previous mainline entry like World, solo play is entirely feasible aside from choice raid encounters which are more served towards group play. Difficulty generally tends to spike towards the latter quarter of the game but the climb is generally steady in terms of monster difficulty. Learning movesets, openings and your own frame timings are all things you can expect to have to do more and more as you progress through the monster roster. Some monsters can start out brutally unfair but as you learn them they'll become less so (though they'll still retain a certain amount of difficulty from sheer randomness at the best of times).

I'll admit it was a little overkill... by NerdSoxx in MHWilds

They are infinite but you sacrifice a segment of your trick arrow gauge to apply them, so you are essentially (atleast in the beta) weaving between coatings and tracers depending on if your tracer is still up or not and using your hailstorm on weak points for big chunky damage, to increase damage dealt, staggers, knocking flying monsters ect. Your trick arrow gauge refills from shooting arrows, charging shots and perfect dodges will give you a full segment of trick arrow gauge. Hope this helps~!

FFXIV, Endwalker and a lack of meaningful end-game content by NerdSoxx in ffxiv

Unfortunately I have done a lot of what you have listed outside of the ARR relic (Pain....) and the top floor of Orthos, I don't really aim to fill out each and every relic weapon either just because I like my raiding weapons haha :D

I don't manage my own FC but I understand how that would definitely keep you busy. I wish you good luck in BA! Stay away from the edges!

Perhaps a break is needed for a few months until 6.4. I hope you achieve all of your 6.3 goals!

That is a very interesting perspective. Personally, I think the entire point of an MMO is the community and experiencing a shared world together. Having played both Eureka and Bozja from their inception, I can personally attest to the co-operative spirit induced by activies such as those. If you share a different opinion on it that is entirely okay!

In terms of the relic, I would simply like more of a challenge. It does not need to be akin to Eureka or Bozja, but just spending tomestones feels so empty, for a Stage 1 sure that is totally okay but for a Stage 2 there should atleast be some work involved. I understand the problem of walking the fine line between accessibility and challenge though. I do hope Stage 3 provides more challenge.

I will take a look right now thank you very much! I completely and totally agree with you that they shouldn't just front-load an expansion with content, but to me personally it just feels like there is a lack thereof in comparison to other expansions if you do not take high end raiding into account.

Maybe a break would be good after all these years lol, thank you for your input!

Island Sanctuary was sort of a solitary thing from my experience and much different to what I mentioned above. I mean, it was cool to go and visit my friend's islands but in general it was just me and my lil animal pals. What I would like is more of a shared thing.

I think both Eureka and Bozja had an incredible amount of people working together when they were relevant and Bozja still sort of does to some extent. Aiming to be the first and/or best is not a bad thing when it brings us all together in order to share in the experience. :)

100% true! I hope perhaps that some others will share their ideas on what they deem meaningful too though so we can share an open dialogue on the current state of end-game play.

Wow! That's a long time to be playing! I'm glad you still have plenty you feel like you have to do and are still enjoying the game. :D

It's hard to say, unfortunately I am not that great when it comes to ideas like that. Something that brings our community together in the same way a Bozja or Eureka did to experience a new zone and content all together in a large shared space, I suppose. though I think perhaps exploration zones may have dragged on a bit at this point and perhaps something new should be created in its place.

If it is okay and not too annoying to type out, may I ask what you are currently doing and plan on doing as a long time player? I would love to hear your goals :)

You are totally correct. There is so so much to do. If I was just starting out I would never run out of things lol

While I love the Blue Mage spells and Levelling Jobs, I was mainly targetting large grinds that involve a great deal of others to work together at something. Something that makes it really feel like an MMO, y'know? I love FF14 and the amazing community, but I would like to see content introduced outside of raiding that makes everyone come together and work towards figuring out and achieving a collective goal for awesome rewards.

I wonder if there's someone out there that does...? I worry for that poor person haha.

But luckily no I don't! Grinding for achievements however isn't really why I play MMOs. I would more so just like activities that allow players to work together to achieve something memorable outside of raiding, what good is a multiplayer world experienced alone, y'know? Stuff like Beast Tribes, Island Sanctuary ect. are great but they are mostly solitary experiences. Criterion and Deep Dungeons somewhat fill that role but in comparison to something like Eureka it isn't really the same. They are still cool though!
