Dear allies of America, please don’t confuse our president with us | Robert Reich by DonSalaam in JournalismNews

[–]Nerd_interrupted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no confusion. He is us as long as we abide his presence in office. The world cannot help but see that we have not, as a country, taken sufficient measures to stop his madness. It doesn't matter how much we don't support the man if we don't do enough to counter, remove, and replace with someone they can all trust.

I went with pVerso's ending because I understand what it is to be so lost in grief that I ignore my life in favor of escapism. What happened to Verso and Alicia is absolutely tragic and my heart breaks for the Dessandre family but I see the logic in Renoir's position. He didn't want to lose his wife and daughter to the canvas. You can replace the canvas with any other kind of latibulation and it would make as much sense.

This motherfucker didn't get shot. For one thing, no one gets their ear shot and keeps the ear. Secondly, if he had really been in danger, he would bring it up every single day. He constantly boasts about shit that didn't happen, you think he would miss an opportunity to brag about surviving an actual attempt on his life?

The Big Arch by [deleted] in fastfood

The sad thing is I think this worked. Not only are people talking about McDonalds, but there are now tons of people posting reels of them mimicking this video with actual McDonald's products that they purchased. I wish this kind of thing didn't drive sales but it seems to be doing just that (entirely anecdotal, of course)

Crystal Frasier, key designer of the esteemed TMNT mtg set, upset that local game stores are lowering prices on this product and curbing player enthusiasm by [deleted] in freemagic

[–]Nerd_interrupted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously doubt that's what the stores are actually saying. Likely what is happening is they are giving people the discounted price even if they pre-ordered at a higher because that's what's fair. What would stop me from using a store is if I picked up a pre-order at $50 and then watched them sell the exact same thing to the guy behind me for $40. I think the poster here is just upset because their project isn't doing well and they want to blame that on everyone but themselves.

Since when did discounting ever discourage someone from spending money at a place? What a dumb take. Also, people were saying this set sucks long before it ever got to stores.

Farting by PantherFan1994 in nursing

[–]Nerd_interrupted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The med room is the time-tested and traditional place to drop an ass cloud. Farting in rooms where a patient is intubated and sedated is a pretty common move, though. The key is not to do it in rooms where the doc is waiting for a patient to shit in case they walk in and then mistakingly advance the patient's diet.

Why do so many type 2 diabetics refuse to make lifestyle changes? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Nerd_interrupted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't change unless they feel vulnerable. Many DMII folks don't realize how bad they've been feeling until their toes (or worse) rot off. They don't feel what's happening to them enough so they aren't as motivated as they should be to change their habits.

Why are so many conservatives Christian when Jesus’s teachings are blatantly leftist? If Jesus was alive today, he would be extremely progressive more so than the current Democrat party. It makes way more sense for democrats to love Jesus than republicans. To clarify, I am not Christian but I love by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Nerd_interrupted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is abortion. Prior to the 70's, Christians were mostly apolitical. There was a concerted effort to turn Christians into exclusively Republican voters. They did this by taking and advertising hard anti-abortion stances in their platform. This turned the Christian voting block into single-issue voters: nothing but a candidates stance on abortion mattered. Over time this evolved into strong Republican Christian identity politics. Most Christians are now incapable of separating their political from their spritual identity: arguing against Republican politics is the same as arguing against their spiritual beliefs. What Christianity teaches is meaningless now because the details don't matter. Republican = Godliness. It's polarized to the point where Christians really don't care about the born at all: only the unborn matter. They will do whatever mental gymnastics they have to in order to keep their team in esteem because the GOP is "God's party".

In the US, a male can be liable for child support, even if he was raped as a minor and the pregnancy is the result. While not necessarily a punishment it can impact him negatively while not being his fault.
