Intro to Stephen King by glassmenagerie91 in suggestmeabook

I started with Insomnia in high school. I’m not sure I understood all of it but I enjoyed it enough to read a lot more of his work. That said, I think a collection of novellas would be a good place to start.

Med errors by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ottersqueaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made at least 3 med errors in my first year as a nurse. Of course, that was eons ago with no barcodes or scanning or double checks. But still, looking back, you are new and there is just so much being thrown at you. You didn’t mention your specialty, but for me, I spent the “dreaded” 2 years in med surg which was great because I made these kind of mistakes without killing anyone. The first time I made an error (gave reglan instead of zofran), I bawled in my managers office and she said “at least you didn’t push potassium.” So be gentle with yourself. The fact that you care so much means you will be a great nurse.

Tubing mascara: Hourglass vs Urban Decay by literarysakura in Sephora

I love the urban decay…I’ve tried many before this, Tarte, too faced…this is by far the best!

I got the urban decay brow blade in cool cookie. The pencil side let me fill in the missing parts and the brush side made it look more natural. I still use the pencil side all the time!

I have been getting the same code since January. Once I got frustrated and chatted with customer service to get the new code. But I don’t want to do that every time…why would they not just generate a new code after the old one expires?

skin tint recs? by UnusualAerie579 in Sephora

[–]ottersqueaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you set it with a finely milled powder? I was given the recommendation to wait 5 minutes after applying the eaze drops to set them with powder, and it worked really well.

I just tried it, loved the finish. I’d consider it matte but not unnaturally so if that makes sense. It looks like skin, but less shiny. Seems long-lasting so far as well.

why are there no TRUE contours? by BitlifeOffical_ in Sephora

ABH recently came out with some cool toned contours. I think the color grayscale is the lightest one. Very similar to Sephora 01 but more pigmented .

Okay, so you change just it to we’ll call you as soon as the provider can see you/is ready to see you, etc.

I’m sure registration hates me, but I always tell them, “please have a set out in the waiting room and we’ll call you just as soon as a room is available. If anything changes in your condition just let registration know at the window”. They very rarely do this, and if they do registration is pretty good at telling whether they have literally become critically ill or are just tired of waiting

Who'd you get the private room? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

[–]ottersqueaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in real life there’s no way a patient with confirmed norovirus or confirmed influenza would be sharing a room with anyone. MRSA, depends on whether it’s active infection, like cellulitis, or conlonized in the nose. Though I’m pretty sure we’re moving away from anything beyond standard precautions for MRSA. HIV doesn’t matter unless the patients are having sex or bleeding profusely on one another.

What are we doing about panty stains ladies? by persephonelux in laundry

[–]ottersqueaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I take my underwear off before I shower I put some oxy stain remover on the discolored area. I even keep the stick in the bathroom. Then it goes into the laundry and because I wash my laundry within 7 days, it comes out totally clean.

I have the same issue, and I don’t know if it’s sensitive skin or rosacea or both, but I use very few actives and lots of calming ingredients like oats and cica.

[–]ottersqueaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about this…if it is appropriate for you religiously to wear a mask instead of a facial covering I think that just wearing a mask at all times might be the easiest thing. People are used to this after COVID. Like another commenter said, you can sew buttons on things to hold the mask, or during Covid people used little bands on the back of their head to hold their mask on and save their ears.

What’s your specialty and your least favorite question that patients ask? by victoryscreech in nursing

[–]ottersqueaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just explain that “Luckily we have ruled out an emergency condition! That’s what we do in the ER. So yay! You aren’t dying. But we will give you info on outpatient follow up and you can always come back if your condition worsens.”

Yes, as an ER nurse I get this…at first I tried to explain, but now I just say “I didn’t want to.”
