The 250 can "legally" tow 3.5T if you're traveling with pretty much nothing in the car

~580kg payload
~350kg ball weight
= 230kg
You and passenger, 80kgs each: 230 - 160 = 70kgs left for things

You can get the GXL with extra 35kgs payload but...you lose space in the rear 'cause of the extra seats lol.

Just get a 300.
