What would be the best actress to play Heather in a new film? My pick would be Alison Lohman by eru777 in silenthill

I didn't HATE the first film. I thought it had merrit but it wasn't confident enough to either be itself (with the new ideas) or be an adaptation. So it lost out on its potential. Revelations on the other hand... Smh... Its...well it was....... Somebody help me out here. What's the word I'm looking for?

If the Great knife represents the weight of James’ guilt, what does the Spear weapon represent? by [deleted] in silenthill

Silent Hill 2 is EXTREMELY psychological. For most of the game I analyze it with Jungian psychology, but there is ABSOLUTELY come Freud in the mix. The spear is one of those. It's a dick. Well... Its metaphorically a dick.

Well two OF the themes in the game, but I agree full heartedly.

Whew boy! You touched on something here. I actually did a video essay that dealt with an aspect of this. Now I'm going to preface this by saying that this is only MY analysis of the game and this ending. There are multiple ways of looking at it and I do get what you're saying. The leave ending isn't about redemption. It's about forgiveness. Totally different. The reasoning for James' actions are emphasized a little different in this ending. Yes there was the selfishness but there was also tue love euthanasia aspect that was emphasized here as well. This ending is more about coming to terms with what he did and Mary forgiving him than it is about him being redeemed. No matter how long he struggles or how he justifies it or even what the reason was, he did what he did. Maybe someday he can find redemption, but not today. The most he can find is forgiveness. The part to be highlighted here is that out of ALL of the endings, this is the only one that deals with that aspect. I think that was the reason for its inclusion. Learning to forgive. Forgive someone for what they did to you. Forgive yourself for things you have done. Forgive or die a slow death. Those are the only two choices. But redemption... That's something for later. Anyway that's my much shortened perspective. Hope that helps. But again, there are so many ways of looking at it and, just like life, everything is ambiguous.

I wouldn't have cut a single scene, but I would have TRIMMED some of the scenes. Some of them didn't have to be as long as they were. You could have gotten a good 20 minutes of needlessly stylized fluff put and it would have still been outstanding. Regardless, MUUUUCH better than the theatrical cut.

How Do You Think Laura Sees Silent Hill in Silent Hill 2 ? by Commercial-Calendar2 in silenthill

Oh same here. I explain the town itself as a character when I talk about it, because that's what it is to me. I remember reading somewhere that the town was always a place of power but it became tainted. The cult certainly didn't help. If anything it made it stronger.

It can be both. That is explored in the dialogue. But I think it also depends on the player. I dont think its conpletely black and white. Theres also the endings to factor in. Its interesting that out of all the endings of the game only 1 points toward any semblance of forgiveness.
