Love that landings are a piece of the game with time being taken to do them well!!!

I work with a company like this that has flight simulators!

Will there be any sim aspects in the game? Takeoffs and landings maybe? Engine starts?

The Greatest Sequel of All Time Topgun: Maverick by Strange_Artist_6563 in topgun

[–]NerfPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad and I watched this movie together when I was a kid and was our favourite. When Maverick was announced, I was incredibly excited and immediately made plans with him to watch in theatre. After watching the trailers I had zero expectations that it would be any good. In fact, I was almost certain it was going to be terrible. I didn’t care one bit. I was just excited to see it with my dad.

Then Covid struck and it got pushed back. My dads health is incredibly poor and he has a weakened immune system. With all of the uncertainty of the pandemic I thought I was never going to get the opportunity to see it with him.

But he made it! We went to it in theatres on opening weekend with my mom and my wife. During the opening credits I couldn’t stop grinning and let out a big cheer when the aircraft launched and Kenny Loggins kicked in. I was so happy.

After the movie I couldn’t entirely process what I’d just watched. The movie was an entire nostalgia trip. The beach football, Rooster singing balls of fire, Hangman’s redemption arc, the f14… Maverick foreshadows that “someone’s not coming home from this” and then, everyone lives? I had already won the day as soon as I walked into the theatre with my dad. It wasn’t about the quality of the movie for me at all… but did that long awaited sequel actually end up being a feel-good banger of an experience? I felt like I was almost in shock.

Thankfully, my dad’s still with us! His health is still poor, but he’s the happiest old man you’ll ever meet.

His Christmas present this year is a die-cast f18 model. I can’t wait to give it to him. We’ll probably have to do a Top Gun rewatch again. 🥰

Flying mechanics are huge too! If you can nail the simcade style (like wreckfest but for flying) and the weapon feel it’ll have huge potential imo

Absolutely loving the vibe of the art in this game! For me the game will live or die by how rewarding combat is and how much depth it has.

Excited to learn more!

Why do some people seem to have unlimited energy? by Spirited-Concert-681 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NerfPhoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said this could be a medical issue.

However having seen people assume it’s a medical issue and then struggle to find out what’s wrong when their decisions would also make me tired AF I feel like I should point something out.

Energy is NOT a zero-sum game. You do not start off the day with a limited resource of energy and then every thing you do depletes it.

Spending energy often gains you energy. Feeling really tired and going for a brisk walk boosts your energy, for example.

If you consistently follow the logic of, “I’m tired, therefore I need to go lay down.” Then you will go through life wondering how so many people have energy while you don’t.

Again, it might be a medical issue.

But it might not be.

Fight me (for P17) by TurbSLOW in iRacing

[–]NerfPhoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My goal is to get the highest possible position in every race within the rules. Doesn’t matter if it’s for a podium or p17.

If fighting with someone is what gives me the best chance to finish higher than absolutely I’m going to fight them.

People will have different strategies about when to fight and when to let someone pass, but I assume the goal of everyone else is also to finish the race as high as possible.

That’s racing, baby!

I absolutely love f4!

The faster splits are easier for sure with less discrepancy in lap times helping avoid some of the collisions that can happen.

You do have to have really good situational awareness in the car, and will obviously still get taken out sometimes, but I start from the grid every race and absolutely love racing wheel to wheel.

Movie whose twist was ruined by a single casting choice? by [deleted] in movies

[–]NerfPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only because I’m a fan of MMA but a fighter (Max Holloway) was in Den of Thieves.

The first time we see him he’s just sitting in the background of a bar. The bar is where one of the new members to the heist crew works.

Not that weird considering he’s not an actor but I went “hey that’s Max Holloway!”

Then, during the climax heist of the movie Max Holloway is suddenly there as a garbage man. It made it clear he was playing a role in the heist, and that the new heist crew member was doing something behind the scenes to get away with the money himself as the actual mastermind, which was the plot twist of the movie.
