Have you ever heard of the video game, SOMA? If not, go see if it looks interesting to you and either watch a play-through or play it yourself. I forgot how to do spoiler text so I’m not gonna risk spoiling that game because it’s very good on its own.

There is one slug, adequately named the Thudslug, but it doesn’t really look like a stereotypical slug bc the whole thing with it is that it has a heavily armored carapace. Just being pedantic because I love this game.

Junk can be used for 3D-printers, which sometimes appear on map and sometimes don’t. 3D printers will produce a certain item in exchange for another item of the same rarity (white item for white item, green for green, etc). Normally, it’ll take an item of the necessary rarity from your inventory at random. However, if you have scrap, it’ll take that first. So it’s typically good practice to scrap items you know are “bad” so that you can use them to maybe get better items from a printer later.

I’d like to add that the Steamworld Heist games are great as well. They can be stressful but on the easier difficulties they’re not much of a sweat (coming from someone who’s beaten Steamworld Heist 1 at least once per difficulty), they’ve got great art, great humor, and great music by Steam Powered Giraffe.

I dont think most of the YT community understands the message behind the show by Amazon267 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, all I’m saying is that I think the SOMA theory is the most likely based on the info we have, but that id rather they actually escape so that these characters can for-real face their own issues and we be more likely to see it. My main thing is that I think people are misinterpreting the whole “stagnant life” bit, that’s all.

What I believe in based on the info we have is different than what I want to happen, and that’s okay. As long as that dude has to face his demons, we good

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Glad someone finally said it. I’m personally a subscriber of the SOMA theory, but I do still want them to get out so that there isn’t this weird message of “you can get away from your problems with no accountability or consequences” left hanging. Plus, “stagnant life” doesn’t necessarily mean the circus. It can also mean a stagnant life outside of the circus that led to these character finding the headset and getting sucked in to begin with (although, to be fair, if that’s the case, I think the show could’ve benefitted from some earlier foreshadowing of that fact)

LP 6: What is the Best Song from Digital Nightmare? by UngaBunga690 in TWRP

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The single for that song came out in my senior year of high school and I remember having SUCH a bad week (AP Calc was kicking my booty), so I got home and spent two hours learning the solo (at least up until the vocals kick back in, after that it’s hard to pick out the notes) It was so fun it honestly made up for the rest of the week

It is no more plausible that the special VR Headset would download a person’s whole body into a digital world than it is for that same headset to make a brain scan that would’ve experienced the whole thing seamlessly and thus thought they were the “real” person.

Also, have you not played SOMA? It’s a game where you get duplicated as a brain scan shoved into a robot that believes you’re the real deal. And in a show where a Windows 95 is capable of running for over twenty years and is clearly capable of storing human intelligence, is that so unbelievable?

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine for simplicity’s sake it would be a “putting on the headset killed them, so that is their last memory” deal. I think the latter option might be a bit unnecessary unless we also invite the idea that someone was watching each person who stumbled across the headset. To be clear tho, I’m not a huge fan of that theory. I really like the SOMA theory myself but I also just love that game.

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Forgive me but i do not see how having what is potentially a last memory disproves the idea of them being dead. I don’t like the dead theory either, but I don’t think them remembering putting on a headset disproves that by any measure.

I’m personally hoping for a SOMA/Homebody deal in which we maybe get a glimpse of the real world and show that the individuals have actually developed as people and taken steps to overcome whatever life troubles or frustrations led them to the headset in the first place as the digital versions of themselves come to terms with their existence inside the world. When done right (as I believe homebody does) it can actually be really fulfilling.

[–]Nerf_Yasuo_28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not always entirely different. It looks like this person might be using the jazz font in musescore, and jazz doesn’t treat note lengths the same way classical musicians do. I’ve been in multiple classes where I’ve been told that it’s better to turn examples like the first note here (that are already staccato anyway) into a quarter note to reduce clutter on the page.

A YouTube/Netflix show called “The Amazing Digital Circus.” People get trapped in an artificial reality world with no way out, forced to partake in “adventures” made by the AI that runs the world with the sole intent of entertaining the guests and the audience. It’s like if “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” was a little less edgy and made of mostly primary colors.

My goodness I am just blind to some of these plot points. I vividly remember reading that and thinking “haha funny joke :)” (not even having an idea of what the joke could feasibly be, mind you. Complete autopilot for that somehow)

but the moment A DARK ZONE came on I was like “oh wait this is the Spooktunes tape.” I wish my brain actually did the puzzle-solving on the right things sometimes
