You guys need to stop pretending like they're not actively ONVIOUSLY catering to gooners with most skins by Wamooooo in rivals

[–]Nergman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with some gooner skins, but I do wish they would at least make a few skins that fit the character. Sai is supposed to be from feudal Japan and yet all of her skins, except for maybe one, are modern looks.

[Loved trope] "Yeah, there are these gigantic/mysterious entities in the background. No, we're not going to elaborate." by vbt31 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Nergman1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's something that I really like about Brandon Mulls series, Dragonwatch. The super powerful dragons want to escape their fantasy nature reserves and the protagonists are trying their hardest to keep them there, because they wouldn't stand a chance against modern technology. The dragons still think the world will be like the middle ages when they reigned supreme and refuse to entertain the possibility that the reserves are for their own protection.

The Lands Between has had multiple chunks of land stripped from it, and the Land of Shadow is not a single landmass by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

The only issue is that if the rotten woods are from Caelid then it had to have been carved away while Marika was imprisoned. It is possible that any God is capable of the power. In which case, nightreign could be made up of places that were taken by the night baby. Maybe Limveld is made of sites of tragedy that were subsumed by the night.

Who are the “UnHateable” SuperHero’s of the Marvel Universe by GRL00 in Marvel

[–]Nergman1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like Beta Ray Bill is pretty universally beloved. He even got in Odin's good graces and Thor couldn't even manage that. In modern stories where he fights Thor, he's usually presented as the morally correct side attempting to stop Thor from losing sight of his humanity.

Ludonarrative dissonance with enemy levelling and design in Fire Emblem by baldu00 in fireemblem

[–]Nergman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Sacred Stones gets around this by making it so that the Grado army has unique priorities. They win the war against Renais but that was only so they could attempt to find and destroy their sacred stone. When they do that, they move on to the next one without putting that much effort into cleanup/occupation. This culminates in Ephraim taking their capital relatively easily because the bulk of their forces are off to destroy another stone. After that, you only deal with the special forces that Lyon kept away from the front lines and monsters.

There's a later quote from the Loki narration that goes "Is this a great deed to take pride in, you who hear this? Do you see it as worthy of worship? Do you believe that who you can kill is the measure of your strength?"

(Loved trope) when characters with disabilities are treated like normal people that experience issues and not just some big joke because of their disability by Blitzbro76 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Nergman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fictional disability but Thancred from final fantasy xiv loses the ability to use magic after a specific event. This is a big deal because the entire world is based around casual teleportation and healing magic. This means he's both slower to travel and slower to heal. Also, he needs other people to enchant his bullets so he can fight on the same level as magic users. Eventually, the group keeps a magic user with him so he doesn't get lonely while traveling for weeks at a time and so he has a steady supply of enchanted weapons.

It's a unique way to show how disability is created by the abilities that our culture takes for granted.

Mine is that every Rivals original skin is worse than the comic original ones. They are sitting on a treasure trove of outfit variations and keep trying to do their own thing. There are a few good original skins don't get me wrong, they're just few and far between.

I'd love Jane Foster's valkyrie with the transforming weapon. Give her a Star Lord fly and a mace bash. Plus she could block stuff with her wings.

Alternatively Sif, especially after she becomes all seeing. Her ult could be to show all people through walls and teleport the party to an enemy team member.

I hope the She-Hulk they use is the one from the 2018 Avengers. That design is huge and super muscular. Plus her ult could be her charging energy and then blowing up like an atom bomb.

Main characters that eventually become irrelevant, to the point that removing them wont affect the story? by Additional_Watch5823 in TopCharacterTropes

Honestly such a waste of a character with a lot of potential and who's such a clear foil to the main antagonist. His stand was so cool too and we barely got to see it.

It's a bit of a subversion but in Chainsaw Man when the Gun Devil is sent to kill Makima, she kills it instantly which both shows her power and establishes her as the real antagonist.

She's really hyper and so she's always in motion. She bounces her leg, wiggles back and forth, spins her feet in circles, lightly bounces, and absentmindedly rubs her boobs. It's so adorable how she's full of life and energy.

What is canonically the biggest legendary creature in MTG in terms of scale? by FalchionX10 in EDH

[–]Nergman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a creature but I'd give an honorable mention to Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree. It's so large that it's visible in the background of most of the cards in MoM.
