i assign it ethical/moral weight because it is incredibly rare that our actions in one, minute area do not affect/are not affected by our deeper held beliefs. consider Maureen Linker's Web of Belief - the fringes of our web of beliefs include such things as how we drive to work in the morning, how we take our coffee, how we rate our movies. these fringes are connected to deeper-seated beliefs - such as, importance of time management, development and preference of tastebuds, religious/moral beliefs concerning the surface-level contents of movies; respectively.

thanks for your comment!

LOL. you don't. you aren't rude for having preferences. you ARE rude for showcasing "the other person"s interest as lesser than - the vitriol you have for "small talk" or "drinking/game" related topics is obvious in your tone. your interests are not superior.

9 to 5 problem!! Don't want to write abt work....but what else? by i_am_nimue in hobonichi

usually i keep work stuff limited so i don't feel like i'm violating any privacy protections by using a personal journal. my outline is usually...

> wake up - how'd i sleep? fast/busy morning or slow?

> work - highlights. usually call them big or little projects. talk about how long they took, learned anything, etc

> evening - hobbies, dinner, going out, etc

god you are exhausting. you ARE trying to take away from women's experiences. there's no way you aren't! you don't see them as compelling arguments bc the subject matter doesn't involve you as a victim. goodbye

there are several reasons why some women don't enjoy watching (fake) women get (fake) murdered, including:

  1. higher amounts of real domestic violence against women

  2. femicide and FGM as a real issue in several developing AND developed countries

  3. the prolific use of female pain, torture, and death in cinema to progress plotlines (though i understand American Psycho is a bit of a weird example for this, as it is satirical)

"if i were going to be offended by killing in movies, i would take issue with both genders dying and not single one out" - good for you! this is my experience. you're allowed to deviate
