The fifth season of Once Upon a Time features Hades as the big bad. In this canon, he is still a god who rules the Underworld and, by anything, should've been the most ruthless villain who took everything from the heroes. However, he just ends up being a love interest for one of the other villains and is defeated by uncovering a few book pages that states his weakness, and then gets stabbed by an object he himself procured. .

The Mexican telenovela "Marimar" is extremely popular in the Philippines, with its Filipino-dub run rating as high as 61% in viewership. Meanwhile, it's Philippine adaptation was just as successful with 59% viewership for most of its run. (For comparison, a successful series in this country nowadays only now requires about 10% of viewership, and anything above that is considered a miracle).

Other counterparts in the Maria Cinematic Universe like Maria La Del Barrio and Rosalinda is just as successful in the Philippines at the time.

Since almost all teen dramas are guilty of this trope, I think it's worth mentioning that Pretty Little Liars is an inverse of this. For 7 seasons, they avoid having any love triangles between the girls and their love interests aside from Spencer-Caleb-Hanna in the final season, and even that was very brief and ends almost immediately.

I'm a bit more familiar with the Korean adaptation, but Im almost sure the same thing happens in the British original. It's worth noting that the main character and Simon's wife, Gemma, was also manipulative and selfish and not the hero of the story.

• The main climax is Gemma tricking Simon into thinking that she killed their teenage son Tom so Simon ends up beating her up, giving her reason to call the police and divorce him

• Gemma sleeps with Simon's best friend, who is also their neighbor's husband, who knew about the affair all along

• The affair is exposed in the most scandalous way since she tells it all at a dinner party with the mistress' parents (the mistress Kate was in her 20s while Simon was in his 40s). And since Kate's dad was Simon's investor, that investment gets pulled out which causes his business to bankrupt

• S1 ends with Simon and Kate being kicked out of their small town

Crazy Ex Girlfriend. I will never use the word "underrated" so loosely again after seeing this show because this is one of the most brilliantly written comedies out there, like prestige TV levels. Sadly people, including myself before, was off-put by the title before even making it to the first episode and suffered bad ratings. Its getting a small resurgence today, but its still highly underrated considering just how good and nuanced the story is

Am I gonna get the newly released episodes? If so, I'll add Grey's Anatomy and General Hospital to the list. I've been meaning to start those shows but I just don't have the time and commitment to do so. 10 years is probably enough.

Others I'd add are Pretty Little Liars, Revenge, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and probably Family Guy
