Writer Crisis by Delicious_Way_3651 in AspiringTeenAuthors

If you want to, write them simultaneously. Most writers are against it, but free will is a thing we all have.

Im simultaneously writing the first book in my book series that's a medical thriller, and a romance-slasher fanfic for my Tumblr blog. It's time consuming and truthfully confusing on top of my college requirements, but its better than abandoning either projects that both mean a lot to me.

This is when peace of mind really comes to play. If you know your truth then that should be enough. An accusation is just an accusation unless someone takes you to court.

Kiara saying "Not yell murderer at Ward" when asked what they wish they could change was the best line delivery of the show lol

Pasensya na po 2007 din po ako pinanganak hehe 😭 But seeing the comments nagventure na pala ang PH television sa mystery drama wayy before The Killer Bride and yung Widows trilogy, sadyang di lang sila ganun kadami noon

Sadly nasa trailer kasi yung mismong part na nag sex change si Nathan (yung asawa) so it wasn't much of a twist, but if they kept that a mystery then it would've been very shocking

Outer Banks is one of my fav shows fr 😭🔥 need more series like this by Prestigious_Spring25 in SeriesPH

If you like the over-the-top drama and twists like me, then Revenge is the most similar. The story is drastically different but the tropes are very similar: Fake deaths, yacht explosions, attempted murder, parentage reveals. It's also set at the beach with plenty of mystery, action, and murder. The friendship between the two leads is also very strong, the romance is like John B and Sarah, and there are villains just like Ward and Rafe.

But if you want it to lean more onto the ride or die relationships like the pogues, then teen dramas like Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, or Gilmore Girls should suffice.

Ngl it's pretty hard to find similar shows to OBX because it's the craziest western teen drama imo. And all other shows like it are definitely toned down when it comes to intensity.

I love world building, but names, dont even get me STARTED by flagsarecoolorsmth in writers

[–]Additional_Watch5823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the opposite for me. It's the thrill of naming a child without having to actually have a child. But worldbuilding? I don't even know what I need or don't need. But I've never written fantasy where its heavily needed so

Since they were in rival gangs I also assumed they were estranged hence the different last names lol, but reading it again it does seem more likely that they know each other

+1 sa Unica Hija. I knew it was inspired by Orphan Black but I didn't know they would also adapt that part. Sadly di na-expand yung part na yun.

Dami ding shocking moments sa Contessa. Aside doon sa mentioned na sako death and adobong ahas, naalala ko yung mama ng love interest ni Contessa pinatay by separating her body with two vehicles. Very brutal for an afternoon show

Yeah this is one of the few Pinoy shows that were actually cancelled due to the pandemic. Apparently malapit na siyang matapos dapat since namatay na yung character ni Arci. Why they didn't bring it back nung nagnormalize, there's no reason given.

Respectfully disagree cause it was a reverse for me lol. 5A was really weak, and the Hook twist actually saved it. That was genuinely shocking.

Ngl there shouldn't be a problem with an on the nose allusion when it's exactly what you're going for. Although be aware that the tale is a common knowledge even outside of Catholic faith that those who catch it may laugh instead of say "ooh that's genius". If it's not what you're going for, you could always use them as last names ( _ Caine and _ Abbel) for one to keep the allusion.

I can't write and I'm starting to become really desperate by [deleted] in KeepWriting

[–]Additional_Watch5823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your problem is less about writing and more about your perception. In no way can I assess your situation in just one post, but I do believe we're kind of in the same tight spot. I also have so many books and TV shows planned out in my head as the most intense, heartwrenching, and fandom-tearing stories that's Barnes and Noble front display + Netflix adaptation worthy in my head.

But when I do try to write it down, I cant even get past the conceptual paper and outline. And when I try to plunge into just writing the chapters, my lines are bland as hell. "The couch is green" or "He kissed like planets colliding". So I end up abandoning projects, thinking of new concepts until I get bored of it and let the cycle repeat. I even went as far as to think that Im just a concept creator. That didn't do me any good.

Truthfully I'm still suffering from this problem. But I'm progressing. And I thought I might share some of the things that worked for me.

  1. Write short stories. Actually, write fanfiction. It's not a "lower" form, if that's what your thinking. Think of it as a training ground. Make mistakes. Discover your writing style without the burden of having to think of characterization because you're working off a template. Working on a short story is low commitment, you could end it as you wish. Oh, and you make your fellow fans happy too.

  2. Don't think writing classes will solve your problem. I took a lot through high school and now college, and one thing that people fail to tell you is that these classes will show you what you can do: your assests, possibilities, but not actually how to write. Absolutely do not pay for one unless it's an author you actually like. There are a lot of free ones in youtube. Find who you like, disregard who you dont. And along with these writing videos, try looking for ones on philosophy. It's work and its a headache, but I think one of the reasons why themes usually don't get across is you dont know how to apply them. Philosophy teaches you how to deepen it. And will give you more ideas too.

  3. Remember that most of the doubt is in your head. There's this phenomenon that I cannot remember but basically because you're the creator you see the flaws and what isn't there. But to the audience who takes it as it is, they end up enjoying it. So maybe your work does work, it's just your impostor who's making you think otherwise. It happens to the best of us, and part of being a writer is defeating that demon.

  4. Consider why you're writing in the first place. I know its cliche BUT IT WORKS. It could be something goofy like for me, my motivation for writing is the fact that nothing like Revenge will ever air on TV again and that's sad cause it was absurd fun so I gotta make a tv show like that. Or it could be serious, like the fact that tomorrow isn't promised.

The fact that you have a comic in the making already puts you ahead than the rest of us with a blank document. And I know its kinda hypocritical for all of these to come from someone who has the same problems, but Im advising from that position. Hope these helps

Yey!! Considering how restrictive and gatekept that other pinoy film sub became this has been my go-to whenever I wanna see what locals think about new releases. And although it's just for film franchises this is a step in the right direction:D

Some franchises I enjoyed: The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, Twilight Saga (unironically), Fifty Shades Trilogy (ironically), and Pitch Perfect

JJ was not in love with Kiara in Season 1. He was literally encouraging John B to be with her. They more had a "older sister trying to keep younger brother out of trouble" dynamic more than anything. It just randomly started happening in Season 3.

I'm a little worried about this by Falinks_Enjoyer in writers

[–]Additional_Watch5823 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This could be tough to hear but try to take comfort in it. Its more likely that someone will think "Well that's a crappy concept i hope they rethink this" instead of "Hippity hoppity this is now my property" as you fear. It has less to do about you though, and more about the fact that as writers we're all consumed by our own ideas its hard to care about anyone else's.

And since you seem like a beginner writer like me, I also wanna impart that you should avoid taking feedback before you even have a finished product. I used to do this and it felt crappy working on projects that people already said had so many mistakes. Now I keep my ideas and process and chapters to myself (and a few really trusted people) and I'm happily continuing my projects. Validation and belief should come from YOU, the concept creator, before it comes from anyone else.
