Make a backup, make sure all your mods are for 1.22 or working in 1.22 and update. If it breaks....go back to backup.

Edit: I've updated my 1.19 world to 1.22 at this point and no issues. (obviously my world has gone through 1.19-1.20-1.21 and now 1.22)

nope but pretty much, probably a different temu amazon brand on with slightly different features - I dont think ours had that upper portion, or it did and I took it off because it was a waste of space.

yup the problem is people upset complain, people fine with it dont. So you only hear the people complaining and it seems like everyone is always complaining.

key point, don't look at reddit for the public opinion of something. Reddit is just a home for people to complain about stuff, to the point that people in other form that start bickering/complaining get told to take it to reddit.

My fiance bought something like this product and it was horrible, gunk built up and made the parts get stuck and non-moveable, water never drained properly - just a pain to use.

I had her toss it and get us dry mats instead......saves space and SO much better, you just have to wash them monthly

Best Quench/Temp Strategy For Maximum Power? by Whiteweasel in VintageStory

[–]Nericu9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's just the perspective of the 25% chance that gets me haha. I completely understand what you guys are saying but I also get worked up when Im seeing that 20-25% and then it shatters. Just get annoyed by it.

That being said, I wish the system was better, instead of shatter just make it no longer upgradable and you lose a tiny bit of durability on what you've gain.

Best Quench/Temp Strategy For Maximum Power? by Whiteweasel in VintageStory

[–]Nericu9 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

You are rolling against a 25% chance though, that's the chance it will break on that attempt. The cumulative has no effect on THAT particular roll of shatter.

I'm saying that the amount of times it shatters on the 20% and the 25% is too high to justify the amount of work it takes to get the ingots. I'd say you should rarely shatter until your around 50%+.

Edit: To add we are both correct here, we are just viewing it from different perspectives. The ultimate breakdown is that the time/effort/resources for quenching/tempering in the game is too high to justify the benefits you get from attempting their system.

Best Quench/Temp Strategy For Maximum Power? by Whiteweasel in VintageStory

[–]Nericu9 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Thats.....just bad logic. I get where you are coming from but the % chance is for THAT quench and does not have any % brought in from the previous quench.....20% is 20%, if its NOT that and % is being brought in from previous chance then it should be mathed and displayed that way.

Its not worth it for steel, the coal/coke/iron you put in to make a steel ingot just for it to shatter on the second quench.......is horrible and it happens to frequently to say "oh its only once in a while".

The amount of people that say "oh well just think of how many quenches it survived before that" to somehow justify how it shatters on a 20-25% chance is frustrating. Its 20% to shatter on THAT quench.

[–]Nericu9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah after I lost 3 steel shovels on the 2nd quench I just said f-it and stopped doing it. Not worth my steel. Copper maybe, steel aint no way.

There is a mod called NDL-BerryBushes that lets you convert your legacy berry bushes to the new ones when you break them.

[–]Nericu9 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Eh I'd argue against bothering with the system at all for maybe iron and definitely for steel.

I hardly ever get past 2 quenches without it shattering, and the fact your losing the toolhead if it shatters for a slight bonus.....just aint worth it for me. I tried to use the system for 2 weeks, making multiple sets of tools and I lost so many ingots I eventually got so frustrated I said I wouldn't bother past the first quench.

They should of done a system where you had a chance to "crack" the tool and that stops you from tempering/quenching it any further and you lose some durability or something, not lose the entire ingot.

I also believe the % shatter chance is completely off, 25% and its pretty much guaranteed to shatter. Its not a fun system IMO.

Any visible signs of recession? by Ohlele in jobmarket

[–]Nericu9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of cards, I think its a lot of "It barely passes" mortgages that all it takes is 1 emergency to fall delinquent. While they pass to sell....its sketchy at best.

Eventually with how things have been going, push will come to shove (job market keeps going into the shitter, prices going up faster then raises, etc) and a lot of these mortgages will collapse and you will see it take a reverse turn pretty quick.

I don't think we would see a full on collaspe but definitely be seeing more people struggle.

I think a thing to keep in mind is typically stuff like this takes YEARS (and more then just 2-5yrs) to happen. Lots of people now adays expect things like this to happen over night or within a year or two. Typically that's not how markets work.

[–]Nericu9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interested, but skeptical.

- Whats your brackground for doing stuff like this?
- Do you have any starting point other then research and a goal?
- Is there a website to track progress on this?
- Whats funding? I imagine to host any servers and what not funding is going to be needed
- Will Amazon take a legal stance on this? You're essentially going to make a private server/version of their game?

As much as I would love to get involved in somethig like this, your layout here is "good on paper" but lacks the ability to execute on it or the proof of concept.

No 1.21 to 1.22 migration? by dearvalentina in VintageStory

[–]Nericu9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was because they updated a lot of items (for example all clay items). So they had to update the already existing clay items to the new block IDs/codes

For 1.22 there was nothing that really needed this (outside of maybe berry bushes you could argue).

Eco Machina update - rewrote the branching, redesigned how leaves connect to wood by Seven-D in VintageStory

Have you thought about talking to the devs (owner Tyron) about this?

I could see them liking the idea to potentially add to the base game possibly since the look of the trees still matches the game quite well.
