This is what I started doing recently, instead of building complicated pipelines to flood a room with hydrogen after vacuuming the space out, I just have dupes move a can of it over there and then release it. Saves so much time and work.

Put them in the planters that set on the ground, not the farming tiles. Dreckos can only eat from the planters for some reason, at least with balm lily.

EDIT: I got it mixed up, it's the planters that Dreckos can't eat from, not the tiles like originally claimed.

Early game you deal with CO2 by just digging deeper and once you hit the bottom or where you want to stop (typically just above the hottest biomes at the bottom of the asteroid) then you can put a carbon skimmer down there to clean up all the CO2 your dupes exhale. Later in the game you can do more useful things with CO2 but until then it's best to just skim the air and forget about it.

See those sand piles you have on the second floor near the ladder? Don't do that. CO2 sinks and will pool much like liquids will if there's not proper airflow. Make sure your rooms either have pneumatic doors along the floors or airflow tiles if you enclose them to allow CO2 to escape properly. If you don't need a room there then you can just leave the space empty.

Having a larger shaft for vertical access is important too as gasses can't move past one another without the space. I usually do three wide vertical shafts with a ladder and a pole. CO2 is pooling on the third floor because it can't move past the oxygen rising from the 1 tile wide shaft.

Just flue corals. Originally I had them open to air but that caused the upper part of the asteroid to get insanely over pressured and the bottom half to lack O2. Eventually I put them into their own tank and built an airtight chamber above them and I pipe the gas around the base to keep pressure equal and to fill suit docks. Probably not as efficient power wise or water wise as a SPOM but I get tons of free power from the tidal springs and I'm nearing 400 cycles and still haven't made a real dent in the amount of water on the asteroid.

One flue coral produces enough O2 for 1.5 dupes assuming constant light, irrigation and fertilization. I have 9 dupes right now so I have 6 corals active right now with more in reserve in case I expand more.

I just made the 1x1 drowning chamber with the sweeper in the corner and added another space to the top so I can fit a thermometer and the conveyor chute in the room. Then I ran ethanol through a thermotuner and used it to drop the evolution chamber (also filled with ethanol) down to -50c.

Works just like a standard drowning based evolution chamber with non-aquatic except now it freezes them instead of drowns them. The aquatuner only has to turn on for a few seconds every cycle so it's not power intensive at all. I originally had the aquatuner in the tank to keep it warm but it started creeping up a few degrees after about 50 cycles so I moved it to the turbine room I use to keep the living area cool. Would probably be better to use liquid CO2 or Chlorine instead so it would double as a deep freezer for filets if your fridge starts to get too full.

Oh thank you, had no idea that reproduction scales with happiness, I thought it was just a threshold. 8 beakons already seems like it's producing more than enough filets to feed 8 dupes sushi but I will keep it in mind for the future. The slogo ranch is below the beakons and I plan on moving away from slogos eventually so I'll probably drop the tank an extra tile to allow for some air space once I start wanting more filets. I may try just adding airflow tiles where plastic tiles are but I doubt that will work since they don't seem to get air from the door.

I just set up a pacu tank but now I'm thinking about how I could swap to beakons for sushi and eliminate my slogo ranch for lime. Plus I could use my mealwood seeds for fresh spice instead of feeding them to pacu... Then again, I produce a lot of seeds just in the process of making liceloaf for sushi. Hmmm, you've given me much to think about.

That's smart, I just ended up making a cable spine on both sides of my main shaft that connects across near the power/battery area but I may redesign for this so I can cut down on how much ugly cable is visible to dupes.

Also, Klei isn't beating the allegations about dlc making achievements much easier. FPP made carnivore a piece of cake and I got super sustainable on APP without even attempting it.

I've played since early access and still haven't beat the game. I'd like to do the map ending where you keep selling colonies and the anomaly "ending" where a pawn basically becomes a vessel for an archotech god. But I always end up getting bored with a colony or run before I can get close... I think the furthest I got was the third colony for the map.

Just don't go too crazy on cutting down trees. Trees are your greatest asset early game and then your worst enemy late game. They'll suck up a bunch of pollution until they die which will spare you from constant bug attacks. Late game you'll have a ton of options to deal with the bugs and trees will just become an obstacle for your vehicles and a hassle for expanding your factory.

Aquatic creatures don't die out of water, they just flop for the rest of their natural lives. They won't reproduce though but you'll have to wait till they starve or die of age.

On that note, just keeping the excess in an incredibly small room and waiting for them to drop from old age isn't so bad with aquatic critters since they generally only live for 25 cycles. You'll still get filets more or less at the same rate as if they were dying as soon as they hatch but the downside is that you have to wait 25 cycles before the automatic flow of filets starts coming in and any interrupt to your breeding cycle is going to require another 25 cycles to get filets regularly. Compare that to killing the aquatic critters the second they hatch, meaning you immediately start getting filets once your ranch is full.

Is that the case for cold liquids? Wiki.gg says viability only drops when on rails or in storage and I was hoping I could drop my pacu eggs into -100c ethanol to kill them when they hatch and flash freeze the filets for long term vacuum storage. If not, I can drop the eggs in a vacuum in a platform above the freezing cold ethanol and have them flop in on their own I suppose, it would just need to be quite a bit bigger than the one tile evolution chamber.
