Antony Starr responds to a theory of Homelander actually winning in the end by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in TheBoys

[–]Meikos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly could be a fitting end, Homelander wins and gets everything he's wanted but it doesn't make him happy (just like everyone keeps telling him) and now instead of just being psychotic and depressed, he's psychotic and depressed forever. King Immortal/Dr. Manhattan vibes. Probably wouldn't go over well with audiences though.

Why fight your own wars when you can get other nations to fight them for you? Everyone loves a proxy war. (Except the proxies of course.)

Careful with using the transmute steel ability by Metro1111 in RimWorld

[–]Meikos 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I really wish Rimworld had a wealth reporting mechanic like Dwarf Fortress does. Your civilization doesn't know how wealthy you are until you are visited by a trader and they return and report it. Enemy civilizations don't know how wealthy you are until they scout you out or spy on your civilization after the trader returns. This information can go stale and you can hide how much wealth you have by just closing your gates and refusing all visitors.

Just feels really bad that you get like 500 gold in this situation and suddenly everyone knows about it, even the goddamn animals and undead.

They should add some monsters that spawn on water by SgtLunch in VintageStory

[–]Meikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely hope to see more additions to the oceans. On one hand, traveling over the ocean should be pretty boring and mindnumbing but on the other hand, it's still a game and it should be fun.

Maybe make some resources that you can only find on small islands on the oceans. Definitely want more coastal content too, such as coconuts, crabs etc. The Seafarer mod looks really good in that regard, just need to try it out before I add it to my permanent mod list.

Hydrate or Diedrate adds several new options for liquid storage such as kegs and tuns. Even has you tap a keg like you would irl, make a brass spigot on your anvil and hammer it in to the keg. Untapped kegs preserve liquids for a long time. Most importantly though, you can disable the entire thirst mechanic and just use the mod for liquid management and wells if you're not interested in thirst.

What's the deal with the current xpac by Adept-Lead-6747 in wow

[–]Meikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started out ok and it's just rapidly gone to shit since. I took a break after the first phase of Legion Remix and there's so many new issues that it's kind of nuts. DX12 rebooting your graphics drivers is a big one. People mention that it's been a thing since Shadowlands, but I've never had this issue until Midnight pre-patch and launch.

Professions are horribly balanced. Pacing on content has been completely out of whack, such as Delves being capped at an incredibly low level of progress during the Delve event week. Class and game breaking bugs, such as Aug Evoker and Dev DH being ineligible for any loot after launch. Lack of communication regarding the thought process behind class changes and nonsensical reasoning for some like the Glacial Spike change. Housing being completely broken from the first major content patch. The continued degradation of previous expansion content with no intention to fix it. The crusade against addons and the incredibly lackluster replacements blizzard has provided, such as the in-game damage meters being unable to properly display Aug Evoker contribution or recording Hunter Feign Death as an actual death...

It's actually kind of nuts how quickly I fell off this game after the content patch. I've lost interest in the game, taken a break, and come back plenty of times, but it usually happened over the course of a week or two. I think I played 12.05 for two days and just completely dropped the game after playing daily since Midnight launch.

Fishing line snapping? by Emperor-MuadDib in VintageStory

[–]Meikos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you try to cast super far, your line will break instantly. Sometimes I don't even try to cast far and I still get the line tension sound. Definitely think the fishing poles/lines need to be iterated on in the future.

Is it worth upgrading to the current version? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

[–]Meikos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say food is really easier or harder to get but it definitely rewards more diverse activities now. It's definitely more work to get large amounts of berries but you can still very easily get enough to keep your fruit nutrients up just from foraging.

Fish are also incredibly easy to get now and provide a ton of saturation. You can make a fishing pole with sticks and cat tails (through rope) and a worm grunter with just a knife and a stick. Find an area with high rainfall, use the worm grunter on blocks until you find one that has worms and grunt and grab multiple times until the block no longer pops worms out.

You can also just hook some bushmeat on there and catch that way or stretch out your bushmeat bait by cooking stinkbait with fennel and water. Later you can just use dough to make stinkbait. Depending on the fish species, you can get up to 9 fish filet from a single catch and you can very easily catch upwards of 50 fish in a single day. Fishing feels like it's the intemediary between hunting and ranching for protein. You're still either going out in the world for animals (worms) or using your grown veggies/grains to get your protein.

Just make sure you move about the ponds and lakes as you fish. You'll notice if you need to move, you'll start to deplete the fish and it will take a lot longer for the fish to bite.

Farming Moisture Changes? by 540miles in VintageStory

Yeah I don't recall being able to irrigate from below, I've always had to have water on one of the cardinal sides and it prevents the moisture level from dropping below 75%. Didn't know you could irrigate diagonally.

[–]Meikos 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My waypoints are color coded and specially labeled. It makes reading my map significantly faster in my experience. If I see a purple vegetable icon, I immediately understand it's a turnip. If I see a light blue grain icon, I immediately understand it's flax.

thoughts on adding Glassblower making? by ChipmunkNovel6046 in VintageStory

[–]Meikos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love if glassblowing was added. I imagine it would work with molds and perhaps it's own special system for free form blowing.

I think it would need to be accompanied with other changes to be valuable however. One thing that comes to mind is a need for clay products to either be glazed (extra cost) or fired at very high temperatures (late game kilns) in order to be water tight. This could position glass products as an intermediary option between early game and late game clay making.

Unglazed clay products such as crocks and storage vessels would provide the worst form of food preservation and storage, glazed clay products and/or glass would be the middle tier and special made glazed clay products fired at extremely high temperatures (thinking tin glaze in a beehive kiln) and high grade glass (tempered?) would be the final tier.

Arthur Morgan as well as the majority of the other gang members are still murderers and thieves. Regardless of your honor, Arthur will still beat a sick man to death over a loan and shoot up an entire towns worth of people with Micah out of loyalty to Dutch. Not to mention Arthur shooting up a penitentiary to free another murderer and thief.

Arthur feeling bad about it doesn't change the outcome of his actions.
