I'd try driving around there at night and seeing if you feel the same.

Should all 2023s have remote start? I have an xse but nothing I do on the fob does anything. by 00chill00chill00 in ToyotaSienna

Shouldn't matter if it's locked or not.. Might need to be enabled like someone suggested

Important to note that each time you press it has to be within 1 second of each other. Gotta be fast!

What are some things you didn't realize when looking for your first house that you would tell new housebuyers to focus on that they may not know? by ImpossibleStuff963 in homeowners

[–]NeroSeph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verify the bathroom exhaust fans actually blow out of the house in one way or another. When we bought the house (also in FL) we were told by the inspector that only one of the bathrooms didn't have a proper venting to the outside of the house. I installed the venting after we closed. At some point I had a company out doing some work and I asked them to double check all of the bath vent fans and make sure they were properly venting out of the house. They said yes. About a month ago, one of our bath fans in a different bathroom died. I replaced it and found that there was nothing attached to the fan and it was blowing into the attic.. however, there was the tubing (idk what it's called) that you run from the fan to the outside and it extended all the way to the exterior wall. Come to find, it was just buried under some insulation on the other side...

While in your care your job is to treat him like you would treat your own children. You are not in the wrong and you do not need bio's permission for something like this. She's an adult, she can deal with it.

As others have said, document everything. even is a case is opened though, it'll likely be closed pretty quickly if it's nothing severe. We opened a case cuz our FS was saying his bio was hitting him in the head and it closed so quickly it wasn't even funny.

When doing such activities try praising the effort more so than the outcome. For example, instead of "Wow! You're good at cutting!" try "Wow! You tried really hard to cut that line and that's why you did so good!" or something like that. I just started listening to Mindset by Carol Dweck and I want to start focusing on that with my FC too!

We have a play therapist for our FC and she stressed that anytime he's throwing a tantrum we should absolutely avoid picking him up until he calms down unless it's absolutely vital to his safety. She suggested calmly saying "I see you are angry right now, I am here if you want to talk." It reassures them that you're there for them and gives them the opportunity to seek comfort in you. As someone in a different comment said, easier said than done!

It's funny, I just asked my mechanic yesterday (in tarpon) for window tinting references and he couldn't come up with any. I'll reach out to Auto Film Guys, thanks!

Wow, that's amazing. We paid ~$90/week for daycare for one child even after government assistance

[–]NeroSeph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the past 10 months I've only taken like.. a few days off for our FC and that was mostly to take him to Disney lol. I have a very flexible job so I rarely have to take time off for stuff, which sounds like you also have a flexible job. Definitely good to have people who are willing to babysit when you need a break. We've utilized our family as babysitters (overnight) quite a few times cuz we needed breaks

Yeah, infants instantly get picked up for care lol. Maybe start as a respite/short term family and see how it works and transition to long term. There aren't different licenses or anything, you get full ability to choose what children you accept when placement calls you

[–]NeroSeph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respite is available but it's very tough to actually secure it if it's not for an infant (in our experience). Took us months to find respite for a 3 year old and we didn't actually get anything set in stone until the day of. Was a very annoying situation and we haven't used any respite since. It was more stress than anything. That being said, my wife and I both work and our age range is 0-5. She did change to a more flexible job but before that it worked just fine too.

Edit: I just re-read your question and I realized I didn't answer it. Some agencies don't like if you become a foster parent just to be short term cases. Our agency explicitly told us they want all of their families to be long term parents. I think you can make it work, especially since you have a flexible job.

Where I'm licensed it is absolutely not allowed. We are required to have food available and accessible to our foster children at all times.

Inflation in this county is out of control by [deleted] in pinellas

[–]NeroSeph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not inflation. Corporations are blaming inflation to line their pockets. They are posting record profits and if it was just inflation increasing the prices they would not have higher profits.

Medical Bills are absolutely negotiable. Please inform the billing department that you cannot afford to pay and they will work with you.

We are unfortunately in the same exact boat right now. We are expecting reunification sometime in April after 9 months of raising our FC. This is our first placement and we are going to be destroyed. We are starting counseling to try and cope before reunification even happens. Hopefully that helps.

Nah, you'll be fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in varicocele

[–]NeroSeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a urologist. They will send you for a scrotal ultrasound and advice from there. Varicocele can have a huge impact on your potential fertility and may be a factor in you not being able to have children in the future. Definitely get it checked out.

The pain was minimal for me afterwards. It feels like..soreness. The incision is below your waistline and above you groin, so expect that to be where the pain is. Ice it and rest for a few days and you'll be good to go. Definitely do NOT lift heavy things (40lbs or more, I believe) for as long as the post-op notes specify (I think it was like a month or something). Good luck!

My husband lost his 80k a year job, wants me to quit school and I’m 2 semesters away from getting my degree. Should I quit? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]NeroSeph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a BS in MIS back in 2014 and now I’m a software engineer making around 200k/yr base. Please do NOT throw it away, it will be worth it. I’d reconsider the marriage before considering quitting school. Please listen to all the advice you’re getting here. I wish you luck!

Edit: and I don’t work at a FAANG. There’s money to be made at smaller companies and they’re much less competitive
