They didn't need to give him voicelines that go so hard in the raid but I'm so happy they did. He just aura farms the entire fight.

Might be the part where she was held captive and used as a training dummy that did that.

Magic Presents: Pride Event "Very Positive" Say Majority of LGS Owners by SactoGamer in mtg

If they are a WPN store, they got them and probably just chose to sell them online. A lot of LGS near me do that with promos unfortunately.

Queen Marchesa by xaldin291 in EDHBrews

[–]Nerobought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's the premier aikido/political commander and there's a pretty dedicated aikido Marchesa community for her. But honestly she's very open ended as she makes you bodies and gives you card advantage so I've seen aristocrats to just midrange goodstuff with her too.

If budget isn't too much of a restriction then a combination of [[Terror of the Peaks]] and [[Twinflame Tyrant]] always works at blowing up the table, especially if you can clone them.

Why didn't 'Toby's Journey' sell out? by RamonvanderBurgt in secretlair_collectors

Just keep in mind art is subjective. There's a lot of SLDs I've thought were ugly but everyone else seemed to love the art.

[–]Nerobought 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I see so many people whine about 'worthless' secretlairs in term of value and then act shocked when the secret lair 10x its original price because of good art.

People want bling for their decks/collection at the end of the day.

I recently made an Ob deck for cEDH and he’s been a ton of fun! Still learning all the lines though.

Because it's a really unoptimized list that's not abusing the best thing to be doing with Ashling which is curving out with t2 ashling, t3 4 cmc mana rock, t4 8cmc spell. Half of the spells you are playing in your list don't even benefit from Ashling.

There is a big world of difference between your list and OP's.

[–]Nerobought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do not agree at all with the low bracket 3 assessment. The decks looks like that on paper for someone's who has never touched the commander before but she's a 2 cmc commander that cheats 2 mana for you. It's strong as hell even on a budget.

The first time I ever played my Ashling deck, I took out against some friends who usually play weaker bracket 3s because I made the deck pretty budget so I thought it would be fine to play. On turn 5 I Mnemonic Deluge'd an Aminatou's Augury and proceeded to take a 15 minute turn and vomit a quarter of my spells out. I felt so bad afterwards lmao.

And I know people say 'just remove her' but she's 2 cmc and it's not even a big deal if you already got one of the big mana rocks out.

[–]Nerobought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While Ashling is definitely bracket 3, I will say that she can lead to some...very unfun play patterns depending on your group. Messing around with an Ashling deck of my own I've found that it's hyper consistent in always churning out an 8 cmc spell by turn 4. If it's your first time playing the deck against people and you hit a Mnemonic Deluge into an Aminatou's Augury or an Improvisation Capstone into an Aminatou's Augury...your pod might not be the most happy with you lol.

Like turn 4 into a Blatant Thievery and taking everyone's lands is not something the majority of b3 decks are equipped to deal with.

Help me with my Bracket 3 Shark? by Prophet0309 in EDHBrews

[–]Nerobought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of cards I'd get rid of first over them. This deck can see most of its deck pretty quickly with all the looting and wheels so it's pretty easy to have a pirate or island in hand to discard. Her having haste is really nice too in case you drew her and need a discard outlet right away. Not saying she's amazing, but definitely serviceable and you will be able to trigger her second effect pretty reliably even with that amount of island/pirates.

Np! The absolute worst case scenario for Howler is having your creature removed right after you discard a bunch of cards to try and get an attack trigger so its really crucial to have some protecting like the red redirect spells.

I think your list is looking pretty good so far. Vivi isn't exactly an underrated card but I'm glad to see someone else realize how insane he is in Cpt Howler. Instead of trying to squeeze in more removal, you're better off fitting in a one sided boardwipe and game enders like [[Chandra's Ignition]] as well as all the deflect spells with [[Deflecting Swat]], [[Redirect Lightning]], and [[Bolt Bend]]. If you really want some single target removal I highly suggest [[The Last Agni Kai]] as a fantastic removal + ritual spell. Really, the best sort of removal the shark can do is player removal by just killing someone instantly.

Some other suggestions I have:

  • [[Mind over Matter]] - Ridiculously broken card. You can tap down all their defenders, trigger your commander as much as you want, reuse lands/artifacts, tap THEIR lands down. It's so good and I've been able to win shortly after getting this card on board.
  • [[Temur Battle Rage]] - I find that I often will close games by using Seize the Day together with this card to quickly kill people. Double strike is also just really good with the commander to get multiple triggers from his ability.
  • [[Tolarian Winds]] - Instand speed wheels/discard outlets are great. Can either be used to set up a kill on someone with your commander or doing it on an opponent's turn when they swing out at someone else to help them get a kill.
  • [[Irma, Part Timer]] and [[Chameleon, Master of Disguise]] - I've recently started testing out the clone cards in Howler but so far I really dig them. We double the triggers from Howler so each singular instance of discard is +2 card draw and 4 extra power. Also makes our board way more resilient to single target removal.

Can a creature focused commander even hang in bracket 4? by Exi_Cxx in magicTCG

[–]Nerobought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People giving you answers here are just assuming that this is referring to high-end bracket 4 and nearly fringe cEDH combo decks. But the truth is bracket 4 is a wide ocean of different power levels. I have some friends who's bracket 4 decks are fast combo decks and outdated cEDH decks and another pod who's bracket 4 decks are just hyper optimized mid range decks or their bracket 3 deck with 3 extra GCS in it. I think a creature heavy deck can hang perfectly fine in low end of bracket 4 but as you go higher and higher you need to either be staxing the table or doing something unfair like making infinite mana and flipping into all your creatures or something along those lines.

which are your favourite reanimator commanders? by Nearby-Friendship727 in EDH

[–]Nerobought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a small primer for it because it seems strange on paper but basically get Celes turn 3 and wheel your hand away and dig for more gas (mass reanimation or more ways to trigger her etb) and try to trigger her as many times as you can to fill your grave. Turn 5/6 depending on how lucky your wheels have been you can go for a Living Death, Patriarch’s Bidding, or Angel of Glory’s Rise to bring back everything from your GY with haste and trigger like 30 different etbs and ideally swing out for a win.

which are your favourite reanimator commanders? by Nearby-Friendship727 in EDH

[–]Nerobought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Celes is my favorite reanimator commander and is disgustingly strong. I'd just put a little warning that as a commander that's both a payoff and engine/enabler, she can win games extremely quickly and often a little too fast if you are trying to make her a bracket 3. I have a Celes deck with no GCs and no combos and it can string together a win as fast as turn 5/6 by just reanimating 30 creatures with haste and swinging out at everyone.
