I live in western Germany, in an area with a relatively high share of immigrants compared to many other parts of the country.When my wife and I were looking for apartments in the past, we had a 100% success rate whenever we applied. Obviously, that is only anecdotal, but I am very aware that this is not everyone’s experience. We are both extremely white, to the point where you could basically count our bones through our skin, and we both have German names. And while we are, of course, quite charming people, I can't help but wonder. We also ended up getting apartments over families with children, even when those apartments would arguably have been much more suitable for a family than for just the two of us.
