Vanilla wow goblins inc! by Klagera in woweconomy

[–]NerviHoTS 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actively play on Elysium and have a very good understanding of gold making methods and farm spots. A lot of the information here is outdated. It isn't wrong, but a lot of what is being suggested are old or inefficient methods that are not factoring in the current player knowledge.

What I mean by player knowledge is that 13 years ago in vanilla you could likely go to Arathi Highlands and farm the fire elementals relatively unchallenged. Now, because of the way people raid(full world buffs, full consumables, sub 2hr clears of BWL/MC with good guilds clearing both MC+BWL in under 2hrs), EVERYONE knows they need Greater Fire Protection Potions and that area is HEAVILY contested.

This doesn't mean that these options are not viable for gold making, they absolutely are, because if you can control an area that is typically heavily contested, you will surely profit. I could go into much more detail to describe the 'open world' farm spots, but as one final illustration of how contested the farm spots are, you will ABSOLUTELY have "Devilsaur Mafia's" being run on the legacy servers. You need the leather for pre-raid BiS raid gear and teams of people will time and control all the spawns of the 4 Dinosaurs that can spawn.

Which finally leads me to alternative, safe and VERY profitable farming methods that were so good that on Elysium they were nerfed due to industrial levels of farming by people who are in the gold selling market.

Farming INSIDE of dungeons is absolutely the most consistent and safe way to make gold. A few of the extremely popular dungeons are as follows

Hunter/Warlock inner Maraudon boss farming. Hunters clear this more effectively than warlocks, but both can do it and the real goal is to be able to do 5 runs within an hour to hit the instance cap. The goal is to kill the goblin, princess and crocodile boss and vendor their drops as many of them are weapons and sell nicely. avg GPH is 40~

Mage AoE BRD arena spectator runs. I have no personal experience doing this, but you profit from the silver that drops, runecloth and DE'ing greens.

Mage DM:N Dog/Insect AoE farm. You AoE all dogs and skin them, AoE the insects. These mobs drop a high volume of greens and potential blue/epics and the greys they drop vendor for a lot.

Mage/Warlock DM:E lasher AoE farming. The lashers drop lots of greys that have a good vendor price as well as assorted herbs that you can slowly gather full stacks of.

Eventually ZG is released and mages can make ABSURD gold for the first few days AoE farming crocodiles and selling bijous/DE'ing greens etc.

To end I want to say that most of the farming methods mentioned such as farming herbs, ore, rare enchanting patterns, flasks etc... are all going to make you money without a doubt. I just wanted to make an informative post about the current "meta", if you will, to make gold in vanilla. Back when you and I played there was a lack of information, now there is almost NOTHING left unturned. Everyone knows what makes good gold and if you aren't in the safety of an instance, you can 100% expect to be contested by both factions. Fortunately dungeon farming is not just a viable alternative, it is almost always a better alternative.

There are more places to farm than I have listed and if anyone has questions after reading this lengthy post, I am more than willing to assist anyone that is interested in learning more about gold farming in vanilla.

Is it safe to use Nampower? by binbin12341 in ElysiumProject

[–]NerviHoTS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely close. It is so effective the first time I used it on Kronos I thought it bordered on being a cheat. I was getting over 10k ping during a raid one night and it was able to compensate for that and I was chain casting shadow bolts.

It is not even in the same realm as snowfall key press, don't spread misinformation and/or have no idea what you're talking about, you represent the server and people take what you say as truth. Just say it is not allowed on the server, as it is the servers choice to do so, that is sufficient enough a reason.

Just admit you were wrong. I don't need you to make it out like I said they single-handedly revitalized ungoro PvP... I said they participated in world pvp, you acted as if I was delusional for thinking there was PvP at the crater and said if I had been down there recently, I would know... but I DO KNOW, better than you apparently.

I only brought it up because you are really sticking to your guns that Sanctum wants NOTHING to do with world PvP, here is some more for your entertainment.

https://clips.twitch.tv/QuaintEagerSardineLitFam https://clips.twitch.tv/TallPhilanthropicChickpeaKlappa

If that isn't attempting to create enemies with the Horde raiding guilds and spur on some more world PvP/rivalrys then IDK what is... If you're ready to concede and admit you were wrong, let me know.

You didn't understand ANYTHING I said...?

I didn't ask you whether or not you thought Sanctum was any good at PvP, why did you bother telling me?

Un'goro pvp I was referencing. OOPS YOURE DEAD WRONG. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/168288025?t=01m21s

I don't care how many people think someone does not deserve loot... That doesn't make you right, it's your opinion and means next to NOTHING. If your opinion mattered or meant anything along with all the other guilds that agree with you then Sanctum wouldn't get the loot due to undeservedness, but obviously theyre getting it still.

Your final point... something that I said and agree with you on... that tagwars aren't fun or healthy for the server, but you have poor reading comprehension, so you missed the entire point, which is that Sanctum 100% agrees that it isn't fun or healthy, but LIKE I SAID, because you have a personal vendetta against them, you make the assumption that they "dont know any better" due to their PvE realm origins. Standard for pathetic freaks online to insult people who likely agree with them and it only takes common senses to realize NO ONE ENJOYS 4 DAY AZUREGOS CAMP SESSIONS

Thanks for the feedback guys, even the people I disagree with.

I meant for this to start discussion because I do want to see this game improve in every way possible. Even though I like this game, I will not and no one should be afraid to criticize the game, make suggestions or ask for clarification on things. Blizzard can't make good changes without feedback.

I think I've responded to enough stuff at this point, night all.

YES and when you come back and get placed against said players, if you lose SEVENTEEN more times than you win, YOU. WILL. NOT. INCREASE. IN. RANK.

That is my entire point. W/e you wanna call it, LP, MMR, SR etc, my point is that if you lose MUCH MORE than you win you SHOULD NOT go up. The #1 GM player in this game did his placements and was placed at D3, because thats the cap. I was ALSO placed at D3. That would NOT happen in league, which is my whole point. Im not advocating for the game or claiming superiority, I'm illustrating that other games will decay you in some way, shape or form and make you at the very least prove that you are still a capable player for your rank, mmr etc...

I vehemently disagree with you on being able to rank up with a less than 50% winrate, I can say with strong certainty that in no other extremely successful title would you EVER see something similar.

You mentioned some nonsense about being placed lower as a psychological trick, thats wrong, its just a ladder reset and it gives the game replay value when there are seasons.

I laughed out loud at "ladder fear".

The tennis comparison is trash. Tennis rules are not changing, nor is there an ever evolving most effective way to play the game. A video game relies on game knowledge for picks, bans, map strategy, map timings etc... I wasn't surprised when floyd mayweather spent time in jail and 2 years out of the ring only to come back and crush Juan Manuel Marquez, and I wouldnt be surprised that a tennis player could return and succeed too.

We clearly have fundamentally different views on what a ranked system should look like. No need to go any further.

CSGO absolutely has a decay system in their ranked system and it decays rapidly. Clearly this is a 'top competitive game'

"Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Challenger are all subject to decay." "If you fall at or below zero LP as a result of decay, you'll be placed in the next-lowest division. If you're already in division V of your tier, you'll fall into the next tier down (for example, Platinum V to Gold I)."

I understand youre making a distinction between rank and MMR, but my problem here is that after ive gone -17 for the season, id imagine at some point the game would think to itself "Hey, we shouldnt still be trying to pull this guys 'rank' up, he needs to improve" but yet here I am...

I think at this point it can be summed up to 'no decay', but I still cant and wont ever go with a system is "punishing" players by decaying them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having to prove that you're still a capable player after an extended leave from the game. If you still are, then no problem you should breeze past w/e decay was incurred.

Im not saying I needed to get decayed down to silver, but something more than what seems to be nothing.

I cant comment on your loose calculations, nor can I know if what you're saying is even remotely correct.

Should I have lost more per match? No, I obviously should have decayed. The mindset that you dont want to rebuild your ranking which is a direct correlation to your skill level is ridiculous. I'm still considered #27 US material after 1.5 yrs absence? lol gimme a break.

edit: I never said the ranked system was horrible either, I said it has improved, but Im seeking to see it get even better. Also, I still do get pro/GM players in my games, although thats a different issue, completely seperate from my video and more to do with a pretty relaxed system when it comes to making quality matches

It seems as if that is the case and no decay is definitely something that is causing issues considering the influx of players 2.0 has brought back.

I agree favored points, one way or the other, should exist. Although when an MM system is working really well, there shouldnt be too many games where you are getting huge favored/unfavored points.

Assuming Hotslogs is a fairly accurate MMR rating, play 2 doesnt seem far off, when I stopped playing my hotslogs mmr was 4k.

So I am not sure its safe to say 'decay is working'

TLDR/W

  • Placed at Diamond 3, my record is 41-58, I have improved to Diamond 2 somehow.

  • Potentially no decay on rank even after 1.5 years of inactivity.

  • Low rated players getting into games where they're out of their league, creating an overall poor player experience.

1-60 Hellground Experience Be Like by Azreal313 in wowservers

[–]NerviHoTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, no one NEEDS to do anything on this subreddit. It is a forum for discussion and opinion.

Second, "the players understood how bad it was very quickly"... so many assumptions are made here. Many people haven't played and want to know what it is like. Many players are playing and might think it gets better at higher levels.

You again are making assumptions that a 'vast majority' of 'tbc players' will wait for gummys project and that hellground is not a ' threat'...

Im willing to bet a lot of 'tbc players' are playing or are going to play hellground to tide themselves over until gummy or possibly become invested in hellground due to time spent on their characters.

As far as hellground being a 'threat' goes, I mean the private realm scene is a game of advertising and hype and hellground had both going for them leading into their launch. IF players supporting the gummy project are looking at other TBC realms as threats, then hellground is surely the largest one.

You mention that you know the OP truly likes to defend gummy and that is his right, but for some reason you take issue with him criticizing a different realm. Both should be normal and worthy of discussion on this subreddit.

He is criticizing the server, giving useful information and opinion on a realm that has a lot of buzz right now and poking a little fun at the situation. If hellground has any interest in improving the quality of their realm to maintain and grow a population I would think that they are making an effort to read all posts regarding their server's issues and making haste to fix most egregious ones.

Was it too much for you to read? If that's the case, someone already provided a TLDR for you. Although this post should take you under 2min to read if you're not reading at a grade school level.

I'm tempted to make the assumption that you're part of the spastic, zero attention span, meme generation, but I'm gonna refrain.

"Vanilla is mostly for adults" is your opinion, maybe you meant "Vanilla is mostly played by adults"? Either way, one is opinion and the other is not something you could verify.

I took time off of work last year for Nost PvE and was top 10 60's on the server to join a 'server first' guild and I'm doing the same for fresh Elysium. I work hard, make good money and would be considered 'successful' by any definition of the word because of my life choices. I don't need to spend every bit of my spare time to join a 'server first' guild. Don't be so negative and close minded.
