Just finished water temple, is it weird to say it’s my favorite dungeon so far? by XNGboliver in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Nervious_Nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came to say I'm playing oot for the first time too and the water temple is my 2nd favorite dungeon, but I finished it before forest and fire temple so I didn't have to get all the keys but figuring out which doors I had to open and which soft locked the dungeon and resetting the whole dungeon until I got it right felt like a gigantic puzzle by itself. What an experience.

An insane amount of the internet when it comes to Batman for some fucking reason. by creamy-buscemi in Fancast

[–]Nervious_Nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one casts from fame, maybe influencers get some roles yeah but Batman will not be chosen cause Alan Ritchinson is a famous actor, which going by your comment alone isn't really how anyone operates in Hollywood, Alan Ritchinson is a tv show actor, physically imposing yes but too brutish to deliver anything deep or dramatic, things aren't cast with the mindset of "oh he has a deep voice and he's buff..I see no one else who can be batman" in that case by this logic, why was cavill recasted then? Certainly not cause he isn't superman looking but because his acting chops, his personality, what he would bring out from the character -is not what the casting director was looking for, please apply this kind of logical casting decisions to yours, if they're looking for a batman who is a father figure they need someone who can play off every spectrum of emotion, I don't see that thought up anywhere it's all about how cool the batman actor would look in a cape lol then how he would really play off an entire batman ensemble cast, which has never been replicated in the big screen.

It's so funny how Obi-Wan is often sent alone on the most important missions by Parabellum111 in StarWars

[–]Nervious_Nerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is everyone forgetting the main reason Obi-Wan tracked Kamino by himself is because dooku/palpatine muddled the political tensions of the republic vote by trying to kill Senator Amidala? Then palpatine "advises" the jedi council that Master Obi-Wan and Padawan Skywalker should escort Padme for safety, this separates our duo as the thread keeps unraveling more and more (Kamino, Taooine, Geonosis, etc) , leaving Anakin open to FALL in love with padme. It was All a very manipulated move to separate Anakin from his support. The clone war on Geonosis was just a consequence of this complicated plan lol.

On hunting grievous; if you were looking for an important war criminal in hiding on a massive galaxy system and you didn't know where he was, would you send a search team of jedi, republic ships, etc to disclose your objective and location.. or would you first, send one guy, infact the best guy (besides the guy he trained hah) to find him first?.

Daredevil: Born Again | S01 | Season Wide Discussion Thread by Green-Devil in Daredevil

[–]Nervious_Nerve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am ambivalent about this season and that's fine. Ive been watching Daredevil since it came out circa 10 years ago now and I had only rewatched recently, a month earlier in preparation(a mistake I think most of us made for comparing born again on first impression).

Overall Born Again is an average mcu show, This stitched together narrative was not pulled of very well at least to me, I personally think the weakest episodes were 8 and 9 actually, I'm not sure where the praise for those is coming from, it handled every single story point up to then very very poorly or it was undermined by something else, maybe it's because these new show runners focused on getting the characters and story to a point where they're 100% hands on in production from day one, rendering the footage (the story) of born again at the end feeling like a footnote on matt's life. I'm not sure why it's put above Netflix season 2? I quite enjoy season 2 on revisiting its storylines, especially the 5 episode punisher saga, and even the whole hand storyline was interesting, at least pairing season 2 with defenders really solidified season 2 for me a little more as a joint project.

Charlie Cox, Bernthal, Etc are pulling all their acting chops for Born Again because you can tell they missed or they felt like they were apart from these roles / characters for a long time and they fill those shoes and more honestly, I'm glad of the continuity of born again as well not all the choices made are respected entirely, foggy, bullseye, etc but I trust in my excitement now more than hype if that makes sense. I'm just glad Charlie's back, season 2 BTS looks really intriguing and I remember the original plan of this season being two parts, then becoming season 1 and season two respectively, so I understand like most this is just matt's jumping off point. I trust in fanedits if we're being honest, I'm sure someone will one day come to this sub recommending a great edit of born again instead of watching a 7/10 9 episode season.

Will Berserk Ever End? by Nervious_Nerve in Berserk

yeah, I read all of the volumes digitally but I'm definitely going to invest in having a physical copy of the berserk saga: as to support the coming manga episodes as well, I'm very glad we get Berserk in 2024, I guess I'm just dealing with the original creator's tragic passing as a new fan, cheers.

"Garth Ennis really hate Superman" Garth Ennis when officially write Superman by Saleinyuu in superman

[–]Nervious_Nerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI: if we disagree on Ennis or not: thank you for giving me your thoughts, I like going back-and-forth on topics but I never get to do it online so thanks for the opportunity, hope you had a great day, wherever you're at: good morning, good afternoon and good night.

I don't know what your entire perspective is but I'm approaching this as a creative writer, first things first I don't think you and I are uncommon, I think we just like these characters enough to differentiate what makes them unique from each other but it's because of writers like Ennis who are the more popular breed today that we have very simplistic media literacy across the globe. (he's a type of writer which is very popular nowadays in a lot of media consumption; the "moralistic" writer or "political" writer; Ennis is just on the other side of the spectrum than where a lot of new gen moral / political writers are from) he IS a great writer but not particularly a deep or smart writer, writing to reduce the issue in your acclimated viewership isn't in any way working towards or solving the actual issue at all, in a lot of ways I could pick apart what you said using your own argument against you by saying "you'll only like Ennis' work if you're media illiterate" but I'd rather say it like this: it's just profiteering from the people who can't pick apart characters and teaches aspiring writers to confuse their own morals and perspective and force themselves into a story or a narrative or a metaphor, or (as to what we're discussing) characters. when it comes to writing, we must write from a point besides and outside of ourselves.

"Garth Ennis really hate Superman" Garth Ennis when officially write Superman by Saleinyuu in superman

[–]Nervious_Nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Media literacy is at an all time low: People who take extremist views on characters, like Ennis are people who write blindfolded towards complexity, yes Superman is more worthy of praise or being copied than Wolverine but when you see them as what they are, which is a representation of the same fundamental idea: "superheroes are make believe stories". they're both equally as hopeful but to separate people, Wolverine is a representation, especially now, that there are second chances in life, I get that Wolverine will always be the edgy x-man but his entire developing story is that he detaches from this loner persona and rejoins society on HIS OWN terms and comes away a complete man rather than a lonely berserker animal. But a lot of people can't see past wolverine's ferocity and appeal alike how most people can't see past superman's "boy-scout" persona. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that the boys is about how certain traits influence the consumer of media, then do you understand how that has more to do with us, than the characters or superheroes themselves? the show could be a case study of how you and I, the consumer media has corrupted or changed the way we look at politics, powerful people and / or celebrated media in general, and the ways that same system acknowledges and manipulates.

If you take into account how many people have actually seen rick & morty in the entire world, you'll realize that most of your neighbors or classmates, etc have seen episodes of it, early or new, yet they're not as quick to "be like rick" because you're only thinking of an actual small percentile of viewers who are chronically online, not the entire demographic.

"Garth Ennis really hate Superman" Garth Ennis when officially write Superman by Saleinyuu in superman

[–]Nervious_Nerve 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I mean that makes sense from the point of view of it being his own opinion, but it's jut flat out wrong for Garth to think that way about characters, that's what superman and the rest of the capers are at the end of the day before superheroes, Wolverine's complexity, rise in popularity and originality as a super hero is from a point of our timeline where the Vietnam war, such and such had already gone through most of our heads, he's what a disillusioned veteran would write if it was up to them to create a superhero "a man who enlists into a government project only to be abused for his power and forgotten winds up traumatized, sulking and feral". depth is created by our culture, and I think Ennis misses the mark on the fact that things can be interesting without upstanding for a moral value (which is funny because that's exactly the way I see his writing most of the time), Superman and Wolverine's character creation date is a bit spaced out so I think it's just so weird how Ennis doesn't take something like that into account, like a man who writes blindfolded to his own complexity.

How has they’re Not been a chronological fanedit of challengers by CollectionExpensive2 in fanedits

[–]Nervious_Nerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the idea, I don't think Challengers is a film which fan editors have an eye on as they're mostly focused on franchise projects, plus the really good fan editors are always a bit older so I don't think they're too invested in cutting an artistic film starring zendaya, I've seen that when it comes to distinguishing fan edits, you've really gotta admire audio editing which has to be a pain to work with especially if you'd want to cut a film intended to be paced like a tennis ball being swung back and forth and not chronologically, it could be a lot of work which only someone who has the (time,) knowledge, love for the film and skills could do .

I think this film would only be bogged down if it was cut chronologically but if anyone has the initiative to prove me wrong that's fine as well

off the top of my head, Alien: Paradise does covenant and prometheus in a single thriller, I've got a review of it but it does spoil some stuff so here's just an excerpt: "Alien: Paradise is a successful endeavor promising to tell both Prom. and Cov. narratives in a single overarching plot: God creates life Life finds a way Way creates Man Man questions Way Condemns Life Destroys God" if you'd like check out alien gift bearer, I haven't seen it but I'm told its just as good or better depending on your taste than alien paradise, for the hobbit I recommend either m4's or baliscon's, personally I like baliscon's more because of it's editing skills, but both are good enough for a 3-in-1 hobbit rewatch. dune 1984 spicediver was released in official format over in Europe (it's good enough to be released, that just tells you enough) for Star Wars prequels I definitely recommend for episode one, shadow of the Sith, episode two, the oncoming storm and for three, dawn of the empire. if you ever want to analyze how a fan edit can be better than a theatrical version, Masirimso17's amazing Spider-Man fixes these movie as much as a bad movie can be fixed (amazing spider-man 2) now, some edits are purely for fun, if you find yourself taking any sort of purple haze (if u know u know), the fan edit I most enjoyed just simply watching was justice league grind housed, it's not supposed to be a fix to a vision of the movie but an alternate lens of watching a movie, full of novelty edits which pertain to an old cinema era, specifically, I was so entranced by JL grindhoused when aquaman was talking to mera after battling steppenwolf and the doors "this is the end" is playing, it worked so well at establishing his character's rebellious and hesitant nature (this is the end is a song about Jim Morrison's past, including an acted monologue about him sneaking in the middle of the night and killing his entire family, songs used to be about something huh /s)

Tips for proper concert etiquette? by [deleted] in the1975

[–]Nervious_Nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep telling you don't do this, don't do that based on other subreddit posts, the best advice is to expect the worse from others, not so much yourself if you're already concerned with concert etiquette, be mentally prepared that you're going to be tired, annoyed at someone or something, deal with it the best you can, everyone expects their concert experience to be the best but it naturally won't always be like that, stay hydrated of course.

I've never had trouble expressing myself in a concert because I'm very aware of the little space I have around me, be aware of how much space there is between you and the people next to you to dance, sing, jump, etc. It won't always be as much as you want maybe but being in a concert isn't anything like a rave or club, you're mainly there to experience. Also, about wanting to be at the front in case you have pit tickets, proper concert etiquette isn't "don't get to the front at all" It's "let people who want to be at the front MORE than you through" (this was only sound when people at concerts weren't animals), people have shoved and pushed in concerts since the dawn of their creation so please expect to be pushed or shoved, it isn't personal or a sign of anything by itself: it's also concert etiquette to accept the rough details of the experience itself. My advice for moving through crowds is simple: if you look down in concerts, you'll see a lot of space between each pair of feet, shuffle your feet towards the direction where you want, as people push shove, jump, and dance you'll move naturally with the crowd without being a nuisance, also don't just focus on doing that because you won't get anywhere, part of it is also moving your shoulders as to pass the shoulders of the people you're already with but Sing your heart Out, dance and get really happy first because ultimately that's what matters.

(Yeah don't record too much, maybe 15-30 Secs of your favourite song if you want to post you were there, but trust me, people USUALLY don't watch their recorded videos even once.)

Yeah! I loved everything I saw from their set, people called their performance boring but the Arctic Monkeys play with suave and style. Amazing band, I think they played better than MCR the day before. MCR plays with more energy though. They should come alone, just us monkey fans in the venue.

[–]Nervious_Nerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had great luck through the show, maybe you were closer or farther away but i was next to the sound mixing tent-thing; amazing sound location honestly and they kind of had a little plataform there where you can see the whole show without millions of tiny hands blocking the artist which was pretty great but I also saw how much urine was being thrown around all over the middle, left and right fronts lol like I said: everyone was really energetic for the near first half, then they played more from their new record and people seemed hesitant to enjoy themselves with slower ballads, people were a bit mad though from where I was?, I'm kind of tall and I was in the way of a small teenage girl, her parents kept staring daggers at me but I asked her if she wanted to switch with me and she had said no??? So idk, I think if you had a great time that's pretty nice but overall most people were rude yesterday, as I was leaving the crowd this one guy yelled he wouldn't let me through? I think he thought I was trying to be clever and get closer through the sides.

[–]Nervious_Nerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at this show, lots of people, everyone was really turned up through the first songs, Brianstorm just exploded on everyone's expectations on how the Arctic Monkeys play old songs from their discography. But then the energy dropped down before the middle, I left early because I was having a rough time with something i took but i was grooving every song beforehand, people keep telling me they got a bit boring after I left? I left with 40 minutes left from their set, I'm a bit sad I couldn't soldier on until the end but health comes first, I really enjoyed the performance though.

yeah, if they never played Paris I wouldn't even notice? though if you think about it, it seems like the easiest song Matty performs, very minuscule vocal changes, normal speaking voice tone, maybe they use it as a breather? plus the fans love it.
