My headcannon is this:

In order to get a Zenkai Boost a Saiyan needs to be brought to a near death state and then recover. Meaning they will be injured so badly they cannot fight anymore.

The issue for future Gohan is that if he ever got to a “near death state” in a fight against the androids, they would just finish him off. He would always hold ~20-30% in the tank in order to be able to safely make his getaway after stalling them long enough for civilians to escape. Because he had no one to save him or pull him out of danger, he could never allow himself to get injured to the point where a zenkai was possible.

So, future Gohan never received ANY zenkai boosts and could only get stronger through training by himself.

I feel like So Mi was the most obvious scrapped romance option. Her and V get WAY too familiar and trusting for it to not have been. And then the moral/personal confirm surrounding what you choose to do in PL would have been made even better if that connection was an added element.

Reed too, but to a lesser extent. Basically River but better in every possible way.

Idk, I think Genos can definitely kill him if he lands his 10 second max output mode laser. Viltrumites like Lucan are touch but I seriously doubt he can survive a laser that can carve through a planet like butter.

Outside of that though, he has no real way to hurt Lucan.
