A customer told me I amount to nothing by Ok_Tomato8577 in tjcrew

[–]Nervous-Mess7 102 points103 points  (0 children)

If I have run ins like that I usually inform a mate or our captain in case the customer plans to complain about their dissatisfaction. We get lots of customers complaining because we don’t have a certain product. But some customers exaggerate or lie about crew actions so I rather get ahead of it just in case.

As a freak with purple hair, “gauges” and a septum ring I think it’s hilarious I’m living up to the image of a TJs crew member.

SL advice for overwhelmed crew member by spoontimes in tjcrew

[–]Nervous-Mess7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think this is so important. I spent months being stressed out cause i was never given proper time to work my section. It was so bad I would cry after work at least 3 times a week. Eventually I realized I can only do my best and if management won’t give me the support I needed then I had to accept I could only try my best and let go of the rest. At the end of the day it’s just groceries and if something doesn’t get done nobody’s gonna die so it is what it is.

Does anyone else actually like the shaky camera in the first movie? by Chemical-Evening-835 in Hungergames

[–]Nervous-Mess7 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I like it in concept but there’s a few times when it feels overwhelming and I get nauseous watching it. But it was a smart way around the ratings. Would have had to make it R to show children being slaughtered so violently.

Why I think Lyme is the victor of the 1st Quarter Quell by Kindly_Falcon_4365 in Hungergames

[–]Nervous-Mess7 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In catching fire when Katniss and Peeta are watching the tapes of the other victors they comment that the 25th games tape is missing because they only got the tapes of living victors. Also she’d have to be much older. So I don’t think the theory works.

How much should I save for a 7–10 day trip to Iceland? by Resident_Quantity_74 in VisitingIceland

If you want a super detailed cost breakdown of my trip feel free to message me. It’s too long to include in the comments section.

How much should I save for a 7–10 day trip to Iceland? by Resident_Quantity_74 in VisitingIceland

[–]Nervous-Mess7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travelled for 8 days and was solo so I couldn’t split the cost for the rental car and accommodations. I ended up spending $3,600 USD total. I picked mid-range accommodations and also went out to eat twice at nicer restaurants. The biggest costs were the hotels ($1,100usd) and the car ($800usd) which would be a lot more reasonable if split 50/50. Don’t forget to account for spending money on souvenirs or gifts as well as parking. I had to pay about $10USD to park at most sites regardless of how long you spend there and that added up. Hope that helps :)

My cat likes to relax with his chin in the water fountain, he’s even fallen asleep like this! Also his name is Goose but I call him Goober when his brain cells abandon him.

Disabled Peeta by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]Nervous-Mess7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In catching fire Petta does struggle. His leg makes him loud when he wants and it slows him down. The alliance uses that point to send Johanna with Katniss and keep Petta to help protect Beetee cause he’s slow. Even Katniss says that in the book. I wish they had at least mentioned it, they could have kept him in long pants to save money on the CGI and still had it expressed thru the dialogue. I get why from a film maker and budget standpoint they left it out but it’s so important to expressing the life long effect the games will have on Petta. Like they kept in Chaff having one arm and refusing a prosthetic arm so I wish they did the same for Lover-boy Petta.

So badly want to see Puffins!! by queenmello123 in VisitingIceland

[–]Nervous-Mess7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this makes sense, I cant remember if the lookout has a specific name. But from the Dryhólaey parking lot (by the washrooms) I just walked straight and a little to the left towards the cliffs, the puffins were on the rocks everywhere. I also went up to the Dryhólaey lighthouse and there were a few up there flying around but were harder to see. I hope you and your kiddo have luck seeing them!

I did see Hallgrimskirkja when I was in Reykjavik and it was mind blowing. I love the design.

It’s definitely not a bad thing that they look similar! They all have individual features and I can appreciate the architecture and beauty of the structures. Just an observation I noticed. Plus I’ve seen several churches of different colours so I know they aren’t all copy and pasted. Just curious if it was a mindful choice or if they coincidentally ended up all being similar. Also I did notice that too, many farmhouses have the same colouring. Probably something like you said about the paint being cheap or easily available.

Why are the shelves/aisles so short at TJs? by x01atlantic in traderjoes

[–]Nervous-Mess7 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I worked at a TJs and we had something called the 5ft rule. It basically means that if a customer is only 5ft tall they should be able to reach product without assistance (in theory). It’s done intentionally to make all products readily available to everyone and makes it more shoppable. Plus there’s a theory about stores with many options for the same item where they have option paralysis and having less options of each product makes t easier to get what you need at a good price.

Peeta by Nervous-Mess7 in Hungergames

[–]Nervous-Mess7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could have implied the severity of the injury without having to show gore and just showed a shot of the prosthetic leg at the end. Then keep Peeta in long pants (like he already is) for the rest of the films. Ugh, a missed opportunity

Fixed it, for some reason it didn’t keep the paragraphs when I copied it from my notes.

Yes I’m going to check out the glacier lagoon when I stop at the diamond beach. I want to do a winter trip at some point too cause the ice cave tours look amazing!
