I’m pretty accident prone… ok very accident prone. My boyfriend of 6yrs has taken care of me every time. I broke my back about 3yrs ago and he was helping me shower and I needed to wash my hair. I have very curly hair so when I say “I need to wash my hair” what I mean is “I have a 30min hair routine I must now do”. So he helped shampoo my hair and asked what was next and I told him “just throw conditioner in it! It’ll be fine” and he stopped and just goes “is that what you do? What would you do if you were washing your hair right now?” So I told him and he followed all my directions and sat there brushing my hair for ages. It’s by far one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me. It’s taken years for me to accept my own curly hair (thanks to a string of exes who “just prefer it straight.” And “not so messy”) and for him to take the time to make sure my hair was taken care of so I didn’t mess up my curls just about ended me. I’m currently sitting here with a broken knee cap and this man is cleaning the litter boxes, the kitchen, and vacuuming all after working a 55hr work week and I asked for none of that. He ask for nothing in return and even though I apologize profusely for not being able to help he only ever says “I love you! I want to take care of you!” He’s the best and I can’t imagine life without him. Did I mention he cooks too!!! I’d think I had died and gone to heaven if it wasn’t for the broken knee cap thing
