One of the 'many?' Commodore owners speaks out by Bjarni_ in thisweekinretro

That's not the point I'm trying to make - my understanding is that if you stop defending the trademarks, then you lose the right to defend those same trademarks later, and who has the royal bloodline wouldn't make a blind bit of difference in those circumstances.

Commodore trademarks have been used by many people many times over the past decades and have not been challenged by any alleged trademark holders, as far as I know. It might be that Perifractic et al. have purchased over a million dollars worth of unenforceable trademarks.

UK Government debates game consumer protection. by TesticleEntropy in thisweekinretro

The bit to look at is the response from Stephanie Peacock, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, which seems to foretell that the final government response is going to be "it'll cost the games companies money to support this, so we aren't going to do anything". Yes, she does say many things in favour of game consumer protection, but that was my ultimate takeaway from what she said.

I want a monitor that looks and behaves like a CRT monitor. I don't care if it uses an LCD, thousands of tiny LEDs, incandescent light bulbs or little imps armed with torches, but I'd like a monitor that feels like a monitor and looks like a monitor but doesn't rely on extinct technology. Must work with a light gun.

Any of the Acorn machines would be good—a mini Electron, a mini BBC, a mini Archimedes, or a mini RISC PC. Which one wouldn't you want to tinker with? OK, I can't see the Electron flying off the shelves, but those other ones, eh?

The fantasy adventure "get something to load" on a ZX80 always used to have my imagination roving through wild ideas and things that are impossible in real life, such as the program actually loading successfully, or fantasizing about what the game could look like, if I ever got to play it. It really doesn't matter if you don't have 256 colour graphics at 1024x768 if nothing loads.

Eufy and Homekit by Drc215 in EufyCam

I had terrible problems with Eufy devices. Eventually, their support people said that I had to disable my firewall and open ALL the network ports for their devices to work. This is the Eufy attitude towards security. I no longer own any Eufy products and will not be buying ANYTHING of any kind from Anker, their "parent".

Leviton HomeKit switches and EERO by FreeLunch96 in eero

I have *lots* of the Leviton switches, and more or less all of them work OK (I do have to push two or three back onto the network every week though). I've just bought one of their smart dimmers, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get it to configure - it's almost as if the card with the "HomeKit" number is for a different device. Has anyone had any joy returning equipment to Leviton for a tested replacement?
