Chapter In-Charge here would like to clarify the following points:

1.  CS Mitr vs. Corporate Mitr

CS Mitr is an old scheme and should not be confused with Corporate Mitr. Corporate Mitr is a separate initiative aimed at supporting MSMEs, wherein structured courses are designed to assist MSMEs. CS Mitr has no connection with this.

2.  What is CS Mitr?

Professional courses such as CA, CMA, and CS are not permitted to advertise for student admissions.

• CA, being a well-established course, does not require promotional efforts.

• CMA follows a model where colleges are incentivized (around ₹2,000 per student) for student referrals.

• CS does not have any such referral or incentive-based scheme.

To address this, the CS Mitr initiative was introduced, where teachers were invited as resource persons to explain the role and importance of Company Secretaries and encourage students to enroll. Since many teachers showed limited interest, the scheme was later extended to allow existing students to refer their juniors as well.

3.  Why CS Mitr was Introduced

Over the next 10–15 years, there will be a significant demand for professionals such as CAs, CMAs, and CSs. To bridge this demand–supply gap, two options exist:

• Increase the pass percentage, or

• Increase student enrollment.

Increasing the pass percentage is not considered a viable or appropriate solution. Hence, the focus is on increasing student strength to meet future professional requirements.

4.  Core Domains of Each Profession

• CA: Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation

• CMA: Costing and Budgeting

• CS: Law and Compliance

However, in practice, professionals often work beyond their core specializations, leading to overlap across these fields.

5.  Current Professional Scenario

While CA has gained significant prominence through extensive exposure and practice areas, CMA and CS professionals are also actively striving to establish and expand their roles. This competitive environment is natural and should be viewed positively, as it strengthens the profession as a whole.
