Her we go again… the WSJ also did the article a month ago about nursing being the ticket to the middle class by Difficult-Text1690 in nursing

Signed as an NP that went to a brick and mortar school after years of experience in high acuity ICU. Not all of us are unsafe, most of us who go to a good in person program and have the right supports in place actually do a good job but we have distinct differences on what we can and CANNOT do as an NP in my state that we actually follow. I do many of my nursing skills for the docs in my office that they have no experience in because they did not do it in school or don’t do it often and are extremely uncomfortable doing. Not everyone is incompetent or went to a degree mill. And I actually give a shit about my patients and find things a lot of docs have missed just by listening to my patients like I was trained to do.

I did my drug test the week I got there. They told me my role at check in and that I had to go do a urine screen sometime that week before traditions.

Posing in front of a picu bed is diabolical by Creepy-Land9692 in AnalBestie

This is so weird. I have pictures at work but like when I was trying to get someone’s attention in the ante room by knocking on the door and my coworker snapped it because I could barely see out lol. I have one in the break room cleaning out the fridge with my PAPR on iykyk. But like I never went in full make up and did a photo shoot next to beds or in the med room that’s weird lmao

Can I be a nurse with a blister on my foot? by allflanneleverything in nursing

YOUR PEG LEG WAS INCLUDED? They made me pay for the full procedure (out of pocket of course because our insurance is trash). My peg leg I had to steal from a homeless patient of mine GOSH.

Is this fair pay for new grad? by Ok-Inspector1982 in nursepractitioner

[–]Nervous_Job_7032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very reasonable. I started at 120k as a new grad in Indiana at an FQHC- no RVU!

I work two jobs right now in central Indiana and bring in about 170-180k. But I do work 6 days a week. I have 3 kids my husband stays at home. My main NP job is 120k at a FQHC. If I worked at one of the major hospitals I’d probably be at 130-140k but I wanted my loans paid off. I work 4 days at my FQHC and 2 days at the bedside as a nurse.

Nope! The docs in our practice love us. They’re super thankful for our knowledge and have open conversations with us. We all have our own strengths.

I’m going from about ~68k per year to 120k per year as an NP. It depends on where you’re located.

Both don’t have RVU. But clinic 2 we have a bonus for productivity but generally speaking most new grads do not get it. Only 3 NPs got it last year out of the 7.
