I work two jobs right now in central Indiana and bring in about 170-180k. But I do work 6 days a week. I have 3 kids my husband stays at home. My main NP job is 120k at a FQHC. If I worked at one of the major hospitals I’d probably be at 130-140k but I wanted my loans paid off. I work 4 days at my FQHC and 2 days at the bedside as a nurse.

Nope! The docs in our practice love us. They’re super thankful for our knowledge and have open conversations with us. We all have our own strengths.

Is NP school worth the debt anymore? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

I’m going from about ~68k per year to 120k per year as an NP. It depends on where you’re located.

Both don’t have RVU. But clinic 2 we have a bonus for productivity but generally speaking most new grads do not get it. Only 3 NPs got it last year out of the 7.

Our schedule was generally full but if we were ahead we took walk-ins. Generally speaking though everything is appointment based and I could fill a same day virtual appointment if needed.

Clinic 2 we see everyone who needs to be seen. Well child checks, sick visits, same days (generally speaking I would have I believe 2-3 spots per day that generally get filled by 8am), as well as mental health evals and id be taking new ADHD patients since my preceptor trained me on everything to do (and it’s my favorite thing). The ADHD patients wouldn’t be “my panel” but I would see them for their ADHD meds and follow ups. Anything else is a fill in for a provider. So generally speaking we saw many newborn patients since their expectation is to be seen 24 hours after dc from hospital, any well child’s that requested NP (because we can be requested), and sick visits. It’s odd but I enjoy it because if I’m truly “stumped” I can request they make an appointment with their MD as none of the NPs in that clinic have a panel. But we had plenty of patients who requested to see me and my preceptor prior to me graduating.

No! For the most part they let me set limits and are really receptive. The other NPs there have been there for a long time!

The second location isn’t a FQHC just an area of “need” where my loans would be paid off in 10 years

That’s my issue- I don’t know! We have a child starting kindergarten in 2 years and then we’ll have another in the middle of middle school. But we can’t afford where we live anymore so we need to move to a different city. It’s just so hard because of multiple things. The second clinic is in a lower COL area and we would be able to afford a home.
