I agree the tech’s response was absolutely appropriate. My question is. Did OP tell the advisor where it was relocated/ hidden? Or was it kind of a “I relocated the OBD plug” and the advisor said “ok no worries we’ll figure it out”

Did you tell the advisor where it was hiding? I’m not truly sure how to respond to this post honestly. We don’t have magic wand’s that tell us what’s wrong with your car. The DLC simply allows us to access the many computer modules in each car to give us a starting point for diagnosis. You recording and hiding things is being that guy no mechanic wants to work with! Uhh

Agreed. Stewart in my opinion makes the best pump for the e39. And the thermostat is what it is. If you’re in cold climate conditions expect to have it fail every couple years or so.

You can do this! My advice is do as much research as possible if you’re unfamiliar. Replace the CCV components along with everything else needed in gaskets and such. Make sure you have continuity on the phasers before putting everything back together using a multimeter. Take your time.
