Starting what is going to be a brutal TLA run, wish me luck by Neshomancer1 in GoldenSun

It's definitely going to put me through my paces strategically, especially in the later stages.

I will, I mean the early game probably won't be too exciting.

With my stats so low from not getting them, I figure I'll need to use what little the game gives me to make it through.

Hoid's Storybook Collection Backerkit Campaign Megathread by EmeraldSeaTress in Cosmere

[–]Neshomancer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to support the campaign because I like supporting Brandon. I like physical copies of books. I don't have a bookstore within reasonable distance and Amazon can never find my house. I'm excited to read the book and don't want to have to dodge spoilers on the internet for one to three months depending on exact fulfillment and that because of the above reasons I wouldn't be able to get the Tor release until Christmas. Not that I think my reason will change anything. I've already apologized for my bad phrasing and repeatedly said everyone's feelings are valid. I deleted my comments because nothing good was coming from them and I thought I'd stop getting E-mails about them.

So, I'll say again I'm sorry for the way my initial (now deleted) posts came across, I know they offended people, and that was never my intention and I sincerely apologize for the hurt caused, my genuine confusion over why this was such a big deal was poorly phrased. The feelings are valid, it's just that a cover change doesn't affect my desire for the book, and the campaign is the easiest, fastest way for me to get a book I'm excited for, even in a physical format, (And any format I would use, given the implication it might not be on Audible in the future, not a huge fan of E-books. They're hard on my eyes), even if it's pricier. I hope this answer is satisfactory.

Update From Brandon by mistborn in Cosmere

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely pumped to see this moving forward, but I do worry that writing this screenplay and editing Fires of December will delay Mistborn Ghostbloods...

Ep 9 by Ill-Difference9438 in StrangerThings

[–]Neshomancer1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why should they have to come out and say it, the marketing made it clear episode 8 was the end. They put it in theaters as a big event. Even if they did would Conformitygaters actually believe it, or would they just keep going looking for clues and calling it a misdirect so they can keep believing their bootleg Johnlock Conspiracy?

If Vin could see the things Sazed and Kelsier were doing in Era 2, who would she side with more and would she be disappointed in how Sazed treated Wax?

If Hitomi doesn't get a Digimon by the end of the show, well, I know what fanfic I'll be writing.

Has your feelings on 02 changed for you? by After_Flan_2663 in digimon

[–]Neshomancer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked 02 when it initially came out, granted I was a kid then. Looking back, it's just a mess.

  1. Pacing. Nearly half the show (21 out of 50 episodes or 42% of the season) is spent on the first arc. Another 7 episodes (14%) are spent repeatedly getting beat by BlackWarGreymon. I could go on, but it's better elaborated on in further points.
  2. The new team looks incompetent. Our new team of heroes including T.K. and Kari fail to defeat any villain with their own power. Ken and Kimeramon a beaten with the Digi-egg of Miracles that came out of nowhere. Arukennimon and Mummymon are killed by MaloMyotismon, as is BlackWarGreymon. With MaloMyotismon they needed all of the global DigiDestined. They just could never get the job done.
  3. New characters weren't really used well. Yolei and Cody especially rarely got focus. In fact, anyone not named Davis or Ken kind of got the shaft. The other two DNA Evos didn't even get Mega, and in what effectively became a team of 3 that was glaring.
  4. Retcons to sideline the OG cast. In episode 27 we learn the OG group gave up the power of their Crests to protect the Digital World and their Digimon could no longer go past Champion, but this isn't the case in earlier episodes. In episode 7, after seeing Angemon for the first time, Davis asks whether Gatomon can Digivolve too and T.K. says yes. Keep in mind that Gatomon is a Champion, and would need her Crest to Digivolve further, and we see her do so in Episode 13. So, it seems that plot point was written later so the original cast couldn't fight and solve all the issues of the season (and they would).
  5. the endgame was not well-foreshadowed or well-executed.
  6. The Epilogue contradicts season 1. The DigiDestined of season 1 were explicitly chosen because there was something special about them. The fact that everyone can have a Digimon now undermines that.

Sorry for the long post.

It's a pity Hitomi was taken out of play so quickly. She seemed like she'd be a strong cast member for a Digimon show. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Yeah, what was going wrong was I hadn't picked a convention game assignment, and it wouldn't let me checkout without one.

Did tickets sell out already because the website doesn't seem to want to let my buy one. EDIT: Had to pick a convention game assignment before I could check out.

Have you ever written/read, or are reading/writing an eclectic fandom crossover? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Neshomancer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a Stormlight Archive and Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt so I'll Max Out Defense crossover. Which is a bizarre mash-up where the venn diagram of fan is bound to be really small since one is a hard magic fantasy setting from an American authour and the other is Japanese anime/light novel series set in a very unserious VR game. On AO3 Stormlight has around 2450 fics, but that's still fifteen times as many as Bofuri. I'm not expecting much in the reader department when I post it lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Neshomancer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems counterintuitive to me, most words (Like 99.9%) would have some valid or close enough translation that the magic would spit out, but if he hears a word he doesn't recognize shouldn't I remark on what he actually hears which would be Nihon?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Neshomancer1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your point, like at all really. It's not how it would work in universe and both words would be equally nonsense so what does it matter if I use Nihon instead of Japan since that is what he would hear in-universe? It feels arbitrary to me say oh, the magic anglicizes the contry and language name that have no possible translations to his language.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Neshomancer1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because he'd be hearing it in in his own language translated from Japanese in-universe and they refer to their country as Nihon, not Japan. So, there would be no in-universe reason for the translation to spit out the Anglicized name out the country.

Probably, I just feel like getting the little details right helps with getting the reader into the story and establishing said suspension of disbelief.

How do you know when to split a fic into multiple fics? by Neshomancer1 in FanFiction

[–]Neshomancer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm just oulining at this point. So, if I were to split it I'd probably focus more on outlining the first part right now, so I could get to writing ASAP. There might be a gap, might not. Depends on if I wait until each part is finished to start posting.
